Stepping off the scale
Yup, I'm one of those people. The one who obsesses about the number on the scale and forgets those little "non scale victories" we all have. I'm going to make a commitment to myself to not weigh myself again until Friday. I know for many of you that doesn't seem like a lot of time but for those who also struggle with scale…

Yo Yo Dieter finally hiding the scale
In 2013 I worked my butt off and went from 165lbs to 118. I wasn't healthy, I ate terribly and very little and worked out too hard. Fast forward to today and I've just been a yo yo. In that time I've had two major hip surgeries and one major abdominal surgery which set back my exercising. I've finally found a system that…

BMR and MFP numbers very different...which to follow?
I have calculated my BMR which puts me at 1545 while MFP has me at 1200 calories whether I put my goal at 2lbs a week or 1.5 a week. I've changed my MFP goal to 1350 but I am not sure where I should be at for calories right now. My job is lightly active (activities coordinator) and I do body resistence work outs at home…

Breaking Up and Busting Out
I've seen tons of posts lately regarding breaking up and how it affects your journey to a healthier you. Just sharing my experience to maybe give some hope and motivation to others struggling with this right now.... I was previously in a terrible relationship. He was unhealthy and overweight and angry that I thought I…

Reiki/Polarity
I'm posting this to see if anyone else has had sessions with a Reiki/Polarity practitioner and found this to be helpful on their weightloss/healthy living journey. I have started going to a practitioner and have found this incredibly helpful to my mental and emotional factors in my weight loss. Just looking for others who…

Minimal Exercise ability, advice appreciated!
Hey everyone, I'm not so new to the MFP scene, but "new" to using it again this go around. I had previously lost almost 50lbs and then have put some of it back on. I am 5'5, currently 146 lbs, down from 157 when I first started about 4-5 weeks ago. My short term goal is to reach 135 by December, and eventually reaching…

Continuing to lose during surgical recovery
Well this is my second attempt at MFP. The first time I lost almost 50 lbs, and have gained back 30 of it just due to not pushing hard like I was. I have started again and feel pretty good about things. However, I'm going to be having abdominal surgery next week which means I'm unable to exercise other than walking for the…

How to be healthy with Food Allergies
Hey everyone, I have been on this site for a while and it has really helped me reach my goal weight and stay healthy but now I have a new challenge for which I'd like some input on. I have recently developed severe food allergies. I have gone into anaphylaxis three times within the past 16 days. I have now found out I am…

Unable to exercise out of PT and need some help!
Hey everyone, I have a condition called Femoral Acetabular Impingment. Basically my pelvis is tilited improperly and causes the head of my femur to rub on my hip socket. I am awaiting a surgical decision (dundundunnnnn) because I am so young and they don't want to operate too soon. The impingment makes recreational…

Plant based, whole foods "diet"
Hey everyone, I've been considering a plant based diet for a while now. I've done lots of research and think it's a great approach to overall better health. What are your opinions on the lifestyle? I know most westerners (as a whole population) think it's pretty extreme, but the positive results of clinical studies are…

Shingles?!
Not diet related but maybe seeing if someone else has had an experience with shingles. Mind you I'm only 21 but I have a weak immune system and have previously had chicken pox. I've been feeling not so great the past few days and attributed it to being the week before I get my Depo shot. Yesterday morning i had one red dot…

Chrons?
So Ive been a victim of chronic GI issues ever since I was a kid. I was hospitalized countless times, I've had to have NG tubes, countless scopes and tests, Ive had enough CT scans, Xrays and MRI's to glow in the dark. I finally had surgery to remove endometriosis, and at the time the doctor decided to take out my appendix…

Thoughts on Spirutein?
I'm recovering from major surgery and a combination of things afterwards has killed my appetite. I've tried forcing myself but just cant. I've had some friends who tried Spirutein but never anyone who was using it while losing weight. I'd appreciate any positive/negative feedback!

losing the lbs along with the cofidence
Well I've been "officially" on the weight loss journey since the end of July, but only using MFP for 40 days. I've lost almost 20 lbs in that time. The scale is going down, my clothes are a little bigger on me but overall I feel like the same "fat" person. I'm about 15lbs from my goal but frustrated. Anyone else feel like…

On birth control? Gaining weight?
Alright everyone. I'm sure I'll end up getting a lot of hate for this one but I know I'm not alone in this thought. I have seen more posts than I can count about wanting to change BC, go off of it or complaining because it "makes" you gain weight. If you have gained 10, 20 even 30 lbs on birth control it is NOT because of…

Pasta-less lasagna!
Hey everyone! So my pasta-less, gluten free lasagna has been a hit with my family and friends so I figured I'd pass it on... Ingredients -4 large portabello mushroom caps, or sliced if you prefer -1lb ground turkey or chicken -1 large green bell pepper -1 clove garlic -1 red onion -pasta sauce of your choice -mozarella low…

NSV *small happy dance*
So I'm a HUGE scale person. If the number isn't moving I'm not happy. But I can't deny a small NSV I had....all my work scrubs are now too big. Not "too big but I can still wear them" but too big as in I need new ones! While my number hasn't moved much, I'm pumped for my first NSV :)

Non Scale Weight loss
So I'm a person who the second I start a "diet" I get obsessed with the scale. I'm thinking maybe I should not even look at the scale except every three months when I go to the DR for my Depo shot. Anyone else here NOT weight themselves on a regular basis and found it helpful? Found it not helpful? I get frustrated when I…

MFP and disturbing posts
I'm hoping to find some common ground with POSITIVE people by posting this. And I'm going to say right now that I have nothing against those with an ED being on this site, seeing as I have struggled with one before as well. MFP is here to help those wanting to get healthy and lose weight the right way. I am finding it…
