Would like new friends
Hi, I'd like friends that log in regularly (though not expecting a detailed analysis of your breakfast and bowel movements every thirteen minutes) and enjoy cooking. The ability to rant and laugh things (especially yourself) would also be a boon. There are a lot of things I don't like - juicing, Nigel Farage's face,…

Sweet potato burger with griddled pineapple - not low cal!
Hi, I got this recipe from the Vegetarian Society (UK) - it's a good one, which makes a change, as I find this website terrible for recipes (a 'recipe' for a quorn sausage sandwich, anyone?) It's not low calorie, but not everyone is here to lose weight. Or you could have a lot of cals because you're like me, overweight,…

So, I saw the weirdest thing at the gym today...
I know the 'oddest thing seen at the gym' is a topic that comes up and I am particularly fond of an anecdote someone gave about a man who ran on a treadmill with a giant picture of a pug in front of him. However, I really saw 2 of the weirdest people I've ever seen at the gym this morning. I'm not a psychiatrist and I only…

Tips for keeping a straight back during deadlifts?
Please don't tell me to use the search function, as all it brings up is page upon page of Hugh Jackman lifting 400lb. I'm as interested in that as the next person, but it doesn't adequately address my problem. I round my back. I know I do it and I can't seem to stop. Any suggestions? I've started on lighter weights and…

Homemade protein bar recipes to share?
Hi, Anyone have any good tried and tested protein bar recipes? I've used the search function and come across plenty that look good, but wondering if anyone has a recipe that they make regularly. I really stuggle to eat the shop bought ones because of the texture and revolting taste. Please don't tell me to try Quest bars,…

Jacket potato fillings?
If I eat another baked bean or tuna jacket I'm going to scream! But my incredibly picky son loves cheese and beans jackets, so they go on the menu once a week. I get on well with chilli (veggie or meat) and cottage cheese, but I'm starting to tire of them too. Any ideas what to put in them? I don't like mayonnaise. Thanks.

Is fitting into your old clothes disappointing?
I have lost enough weight to shop in the stores I frequented before becoming overweight. But their clothes don't cover my *kitten* and make me look like a skank (seriously UK shops, why do all your dresses and skirts stop at the crotch?!) Anyone else supposed to have graduated to actual adult people clothes in the in the…

Recommended videos for yoga or balance exercises?
Hi, I'm quite a clumsy person and have terrible balance. Does anyone have any recommendations for videos online to follow? There's a lot out there and I wondered if anyone has found some more useful than others. I have a reasonable level of fitness and strength and am already quite flexible, it's just when it comes to…

Hot and sour grilled chicken soup 465 cals, 81g protein
Hi, Made this soup from Nigel Slater's 'Real Cooking' the other night, it was delicious. For 2 500g chicken breast or thighs, cut into thin strips a little groundnut oil 1.5 litres chicken stock (he specifies good quality, so I'd use homemade or the stuff you can buy in jars or pouches instead of a stock cube. I used the…

Proteiny food!
I've been doing this for a week now and have upped the amount of protein in my diet quite a bit and I am so full! I've always keep to a calorie deficit (and considerably higher than 1200..) and still eaten crisps, chocolate etc, but now I am snacking instead on nuts, greek yogurt, cheese and eating eggs/porridge for…

For fun - worst healthy or diet cookbook you have bought?
Mine is the Moosewood Low Fat one, I have no idea how it got such positive reviews on Amazon. I really like the original recipe book (which is full of lovely vegetarian food, all nutritious, even the stuff that's higher in fat), but brown rice boiled in a bit of stock containing chinese 5-spice? I should have known how…

Does anyone find the 'bad' stuff tastes better now?
Now I only eat 2-3 chocolate bars a week (instead of per day...) I find they taste much better. I've had clotted cream and strawberries this afternoon and enjoyed it much more than I used to. Does anyone else find this? Oh, and buttered toast, so good!

Back again, cheers Quetiapine ;)
Hi, I have posted here before and lost quite a bit of weight last year, I certainly was not svelte at the end, but I did feel much better about my appearance. I have taken Quetiapine for almost a year, but until recently took it at night before bed, so haven't had any problems with eating and weight gain. However, a few…

Any healthy recipes that freeze well?
Hi, Do any of you have any good recipes I can make ahead for myself and freeze in individual portions? Recipes that freeze well? I have been experimenting with various low fat casseroles and stews in the slow cooker, but I find the texture tough or 'bitty' when I eat the frozen portions. I'm not fond of liver or celery,…

Hi - new here.
Hi, I have been a member of MFP for a while and have lost a fair bit of weight over the last 6 months from a combination of illness and exercise. I have bipolar and have recently started taking Quetiapine (and have been on Lithium for many years), so thought would get back into MFP and track what I'm eating/doing as I have…
