So, I ordered the replacement strap off polar website, but it is different. The original has like clothe sensorys that you were suppose to wet before workout, but the replacement I got just…

I have washed the band and changed the battery in both the watch and chest peice, but when I start working out it sill just reads "check heart rate monitor" and has been doing this for about 2 weeks. Id did finally pop on once for about 3 minutes in a…

Weight Training or Cardio to burn? Does it Matter?
Just a general question. First off, Im 33(male), 6'3, 260lbs. I still need to lose about 30-35lbs. I have never really lifted in my life except for a little back in my college sports days. I have a friend at work who is training me for free, but he is huge into lifting. I have really gotten into it with him and increased…

Sugars??
I am having alot of trouble staying under my sugar value. I am 6'4 255lbs. MFP has my sugar value set at 43g a day. I put a bannana in my protein shake for breakfast, have a cup of strawberries and 5oz of sliced apple, and a greek yogurt for lunch and this put way over on my sugar value already. Plus my mixed veggies have…

Polar FT4 Malfunctions: Anyone Else? Help? Advice?
I have had my polar FT4 for about a year now and I love it. I have had no issues with it. In the last week it has started acting up. During my workouts now it constantly flashes "check heartrate transmitter" on the screen and my heart rate justs read 00. I take the monitor off the chest strap and resnap it on. It will work…

Leg Injury: Need workout ideas
I just found out today I have a partially torn achilles from playing basketball and have to be in a sturdy walking boot for 3-4 weeks. Dr. said no cardio that involves lower body. He said it is fine to lift upper body as long as the weight is not to the point where Im really pushing down hard on the ground with my legs.…

Help with calorie deficit
I have been at a plateau for months and months now. When I first joined I lost 26 in the first 4-5 months. I was very excited. Once I lost that I had MFP recalculate my calorie deficit. I am 6'3 270lbs and 34 years old. I excercise 4-5 a week. Usually do 30 min on a stairclimber/elliptical followed by 30 minutes of lifting…

Need help and not getting response......
Hello everyone, I made a post earlier today called "help with calorie deficit" in the food/nutrition section. I was really hoping for some suggestions, advice, knowledge, and help, but I only had one response, but there was no explanation for the answer. If you have any time please check it out and give me any…

flavored waters?
Do you consider when you use things such as crystal light to flavor your water as "water"? I am hooked on this sugar free 0 cal ice tea mix. I have been logging each glass as water since that is basically what it is, but I wanted to know what other thought about this? What about the sparkling flavored water bottles from…

Balance your Calories?
I was just wondering how other people handle when they go over their cal deficite for a day. Yesterday being a huge football fan I made some turkey burgers and had too many potatoe chips while watching the NFL Draft. I ended up over 800 cal for the day. That is not a big deal to me as I have been at or under my calorie for…

Help with HIIT Routine
I am starting a "Shredder Fat Loss" workout today that says it uses HIIT (high intensity interval training). So, today I have to do 6 sets of 6-8 reps on bench, 6 sets of 6-8 reps bent over row, 6 sets or 8-10 barbell step ups, 3 sets of 1 min high knees, 9 sets of 15 mountain climbers, 9 sets of 10 pushups, 6 sets 8-10…

Nutrition Info for Mashed Cauliflower???
I am starting to make mashed cauliflower for dinners instead of my usual sweet potatoe or salad every night. I simply boil the cauliflower, add a 2-3 tbsp fat free sour cream, and 2-3 tbsp of I can't believe it's not butter, then mash them (this is for a big pot, not a single dinner serving). Very simple. I was just…

When do you weigh you meat?
Do you use the ounces it weighs when raw or do you cook it then weigh it? I personally weigh it after it cooks because it shrinks down a bit and when I use my grill or foreman grill much of the fat drips out. Just curious as to what others do.

Need help with my polar FT4 HRM
I have had my polar for about 4 months and have used it and love it. The last week it has not been working properly. It is still working and monitoring my HR fine, but once I am finished and hit the stop button to show the cals I burned and how long I worked out it just goes back to the original face and does not show my…

How to find fat burning zone?
I just bought a Polar FT4 HRM. I thought it would calculate on there what my fat buring HR zone would be (maybe it does and I just don't know how to work it). I remember my personal trainer told me a formula for finding the fat burning zone. Does anyone know how to calculate this? Also, what is the difference between Fat…

How does MFP make predictions?
When you submit your info for the day it gives you the old "if every day were like today" in 5 weeks you would be this. Are they basing that solely off the calorie count for the day or does it also take into account carbs, sugars, fat, sodium, and so on?

Another FT4 question
I love my FT4, I just want to make sure I am using it to the best of it's capabilities. Some people have said that you can change settings on it...... This way it is more accurate when switching from something high impact to lower impact like lifting. I went to the polar website and all I could find was the instructions…

How do you handle you beer?
I was wondering how people on here handle going out for a night. I had a guys night out last night and knew I would be drinking some beer. So, I saved about a 1,000 cals to not go over my limit. Of course not eating as much made me get buzzed up faster and my hangover is a little worse than usual today. Should I have just…

Another Polar FT4 Question
I bought my Polar FT4 HRM this week and used it at the gym. It was fairly close on calories burned to the machine I was on. So, I figured it was working accurately. In 37 minutes on the elliptical I burned 480, but the machine 500. I can deal with that. Today I wore it while I went golfing. We walked the nine holes and it…

How do you handle your calories poll.
So, I know some people make sure to hit their calorie number and then burn some off exercising. So, they actually end up below for the day. Then there are some people who make sure to hit their calorie number even after they burn a bunch while exercising. Currently I am trying to hit my calorie goal and then burn some off.…

Subway database?
So, I was looking ahead because I always have a subway breakfast on one of my weekend days. Usually it is a 6" steak, egg white, no cheese, with spinach, onion, and peppers on flatbread. When I typed this in to the database plenty of them popped up, but it ranged from 200 cals all the way up to 400. That is a huge…

Tracking Calories for Strength Training?
I just joined up and I am really enjoying using MFP. While I was playing around just getting use to the tools I noticed when you add in strength training it does not automatically enter burned calories. I know this is probably because everyone's body burns at a different rate. If I am lifting weights and keeping track of…

Eating same foods bad?
I know that after a while your body will adjust if you keep doing the same exercises and you will plateau. Does that work with foods as well? I like to buy enough food for the week and I end up eating eating the same breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 4 or 5 days out of the week. Could this cause plateaus in weight lose?

Too much protein?
I am having no problem hitting my calorie and exercise marks, but everyday my protein level ends up in the negative red (-35 to -40). I have heard some people say on here that they think the allowed protein level is too low as it is set. I do get a little hungry after a workout and wanted to add a protein shake in there. I…
