Polar Replacement Strap? Anyone?

So, , my old polar HRM was not working and someone told me it may be because I put the strap in the dryer and that ruins the sensors. So, I ordered the replacement strap off polar website, but it is different. The original has like clothe sensorys that you were suppose to wet before workout, but the replacement I got just has rubber there. I tried to wet them, but being rubber it the water just ran off. Needlesss to say my HRM did not seem to work with the replacement strap. I have changed the batteries in both watch and chest monitor, washed the straps, and now ordered a new strap. Just can't figure out what is going on with this thing....

The polar website seems quite confusing, was the replacement strap definitely the correct one? I would imagine if it wasn't the transmitter would not work with it. The ones on amazon seem to say that they are "Compatible with all Polar heart rate sensors, utilizing the same snap attachment method". One thing you might try is taking it to the gym and see if it shows up on one of the treadmills or whatever that is compatible with the strap.

hmmm.. my f7 is a strap w/rubber, bought it several months ago... instructions say to wet it down, which I do, and it works for me. [I think the rubber needs to be wet to stick to your skin, no?]

I just got a replacement strap because mine had gotten stretched out, from amazon. It has the same vinyl/rubber area where you snap on the sensor. I was having issues at times with it not picking up the heart rate but now I wet it and use the gel they sell for HRM...I like that a lot, you don't need to use a lot and it lasts.

What actually is wrong with it..not working at all?

I had some trouble with my polar HRM and thought that something was wrong with the strap, but then found this trick on the internet. I took the battery out and then attached it to the strap (while wearing it). Waited 30 seconds. Took it off the strap, put the battery back in and bam-o it worked again. I've had the HRM for about a year and had to do that twice.

Your skin is the part that needs to be wet with the rubber ones.... not the rubber wet. The water is only going to run off that, so just wet your skin & put the strap on over the wet spot.
