More Polar FT4 Trouble. Help??

I have followed all the usual advice for troubleshooting my Polar HRM. I have washed the band and changed the battery in both
the watch and chest peice, but when I start working out it sill just reads "check heart rate monitor" and has been doing this for about 2 weeks. Id did finally pop on once for about 3 minutes in a workout yesterday and showed my HR, but then went right back to saying "check HRM". I have had it about 2 years. The chest band still seems to be in great shape (no rips at all). Any other advice to get this thing back up working properly?? Thanks in advance.

    Just to go through the usual questions...

    Do you wet the electrode spots well before use every time?

    Did you happen to put the chest band in the drier after washing it? I did this last time and it's been acting wonky ever since...big no no! May have to replace...

    Do you make sure the strap is snug but not "too" tight? I've noticed having it too tight can be as bad as not having it tight enough.

    I did put it in the drier!!! Uh oh, I guess I didnt read the washing directions carefully :(
