Distance accuracy: fitbit or treadmill?
I just finished couch to 5k and I’m running on my treadmill trying to time myself running a 5k. C25k always starts with 5 min warm up and ends with 5 min cool down so I don’t want to count those. I started my Fitbit and restarted my treadmill after 5 min warm up. According to my treadmill I did 3.1 mi but Fitbit told me…

4 years later finally caught up wk8d2
June 11th 2016 I completed my first 5k after getting to wk8d1 of the C25k program. Then I took a “break” which turned into not running at all. I got pregnant, had a 2nd baby, yada yada. 4 years later this past April I decided to restart C25k. My app kept wanting to start at the last workout (wk8d2) and I’d be like hahaha…

Your best piece of advice
Hey everyone! What is one thing that has helped you transition into a healthy lifestyle (diet or exercise of general well being) the most? For me, it's the skinny taste blog. (Skinnytaste.com) I LOVE her recipes, because they don't feel like "diet" recipes and she has all the nutrition facts already calculated on her site.…

Welcome!
Hello fellow team mates! Let's start by introducing ourselves, of course. Who are you and what are your goals? How are you planning to reach them? I'm Diana, I currently live in Texas. I've been heavy all my life and have been on and off exercising and counting calories with MFP for years. I've never really tried too hard…

Grumpy while trying to shed pounds?
I know eating better and exercising is supposed to help you feel better overall (release endorphins or some other reasonable scientific explanation) but a while back I accused my husband of not supporting my weight loss, when he admitted that I act like a b*tch when I'm using MFP (i.e. counting calories). I didn't think my…

Maternity Clothes
So when do you think the line should be drawn for how long it acceptable to wear them? Is there even a line? I fit ok in one pair of pre pregnancy jeans (my first pair of non low rise jeans or "mom jeans" as my husband and I call them that I bought a few years ago when I was heftier than usual) and am barely fitting into…

My start
Hi everyone. I'm a sporadic MFPer, I've started and stopped so many times in the past few years it is hard to count. But I'm here now and going to stick with it as long as I can. Still have the baby weight and the baby will be a year in March. Hoping to get back to pre baby weight (which a was still overweight but it's a…

PCSing
It's that time again... Writing from the fabulous army lodging. (PCSing from Korea to TX) I'm using the fridge at my work to store veggies and low cal items so I can still eat well during the day and then its not so bad going out to eat in the evening. Share your advice on how do you handle PCSing while still watching what…

Who's still here??
Hey Korea town people! I'll be leaving the peninsula soon, but I just want to know who is still around and active on MFP? Let me hear you!!

OMG low cal turkey balsamic quesadillas
I slightly adapted a recipe from eating well, instead of three layers (cheese, turkey onion) i did cheese, turkey, onion, turkey, cheese) Turkey & balsamic onion quesadillas INGREDIENTS 1 small red onion, thinly sliced (I ended up only using about 1/2 to 3/4 of the onions) 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 4 10-inch whole-wheat…

Eating too many exercise cals?
OK, I know why you eat back your exercise cals, and trust me I do it! (you dont have to convince me to eat mroe, thats why im on MFP in the first place :p ) But I use my HRM when i workout and usually the number ends up being way higher than what MFP would tell me for that activity and amount of time. So, I diligently log…

need advice, 5k or 10k?
OK, so I am not a runner, but I have always been capable of jogging if I wanted to. I've had a few times in my life where I've run/jogged consistently for a few months before tapering off. So, recently I just started jogging again and this time to keep myself on track I'm thinking of signing up for a race for Memorial Day…

Story on NPR about weight loss
http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2011/10/31/141794801/losing-weight-a-battle-against-fat-and-biology I heard this story this morning and it just really made me kind of bummed because basically it says once you're fat you can never go back to just eating "normally" and expect to keep the weight off. Of course i want a…

Exercise in your undies anyone?
OK hope this isn't TMI, but ever since i got an elliptical in my house I love going on it in just a sports bra and underwear (and socks and sneakers of course) a big reason has been because its still been pretty hot and our air conditioner isn't in the same room as my machine. As the weather cools down I may have to put…

green smoothie thats not green
Personally I love making green smoothies and I don't care what color it is (even a murkey gray if you add blueberries), but for those that might want to add more oopmph to their shakes without turning them green, consider an avocado! I went to make myself a green smoothie tonight and realized the last of my spinach went…

Under the weather and dieting
Over the past few years I've rarely been sick, but when I started MFP in Jan I came down with a bad cold just a few weeks after, the first one in about two years! And just recently i've restarted my weight loss (I "checked out" for about two months) and I just got sick with a cold again. My husband claims I was "wearing…

new again to MFP and looking for friends to help STAY motiva
Hey everyone! I love using MFP, but as everyone here knows it only works when you ACTUALLY use it! I took a two month hiatus (and gained back 4 lbs) But now I'm back and don't want to fall off anymore. I started originally back in January and then by the end of March I was traveling and visiting family and all the excuses…

Workout music suggestions??
So I've been using the same upbeat songs from my music collection for about 5 years now, and even though I love some of my songs, I really want some more variety. I usually listen when I'm on the elliptical and I find I'll go as fast as the beat of the song, so its important to listen to something fairly fast to keep my…
