If you saw the person above in a coffee shop, what would you do?
I am stealing this one from @loricagle and our question and answer conversation from yesterday. So simple enough, the title says it all.
-
How would the first date end with the person above?
Ready, go!!

Bench press no spotter
I am just starting out, so a spotter is not an issue. But my question is for some of you that are hiting higher weights. Do you use a spotter? Do you bench in the squat rack with the safety bar just below chest level? I am not to that point yet, but was just worried about when I do hit that point. I work out at a gym, but…

If you could change one thing about your appearence what would it be?
I would like to be thicker in the chest/shoulder region.
-
If the person above you was a power tool what would they be?
I think the title is self explanatory, answers are open to all mechanical devices or machines.

Hitting my first Plateau
I am now 10 days at the same weight. I know some of you have dealt with much longer plateaus than this, but it is tough at first. I am still hitting the gym and doing well to get my protein and water in. I have been dealing with some tough emotional stuff over the past couple of weeks, so I know that can have an impact. I…

Calories trending up. "were you nervous when this happend?"
I am starting to see my calories trending up. I do not know how I feel about this. I have been hitting the gym pretty hard lately and am demanding more energy, but still makes me a bit nervous. I am working out 7 days a week, with the couch to 5K program and the strong lifts 5x5 program, alternating days. I am getting…

form and advancement question
I believe I have this correct and am doing this correct. I was doing squats last night and felt my form needed a bit more work (not horrible, but shooting for near perfect form). I am going to do the same weight again next workout instead of advancing. Is that what is recommended or is that what any of you are doing?
-
Benching with no spotter
I have recently started 5x5 and failed on my bench twice last workout. Unfortunately I do not have a spotter and the saftey racks is about an inch below my chest. If I raise it, it is an inch above my chest. Since my weight was still fairly light, I could roll the bar down to my waist and slide out. I do not want to do…

Muscle loss
I am 2 months out, I have lost a little over 50 pounds and can see the difference. The problem I am having, is with muscle loss. I am hoping this is a momentary thing, since I was not lifting any weights and was struggling to get in over 50 grams of protein a day. Now that I have been cleared by the surgeon to lift and am…

The Gauntlet Challenge
“The Gauntlet” This is a spinoff of a program I used to do during triple sessions during my college football days. The great thing about “The Gauntlet” is it is adaptable to all exercise levels. Before starting the gauntlet you must measure how many reps you can do of each of the following exercises in 60 seconds. Crunches…

First day back to work after surgery
Hello all, I just returned to work after my RNY. I am lucky and have a very good short term dissability plan that allowed my 6 weeks out of work. This time allowed my the flexibility to adjust to the energy levels and diet changes needed, leaving me completely confident in returning to work without any issues. I am…

How long did it take for your insurance to approve
My approval is supposed to be simple. I have done all the preop requirements, my surgeon has submitted all the info to the insurance for improval, including the surgery date of 11/21. It has been over a week and still not answer. Just curious what everyone else went through.
-
One week until surgery
I have been wondering when the date would finally arrive and now I have a bit of nerves now that it is a week away. I am not second guessing the decision, just the nerves are starting to set in.
-
Tentative date set for my surgery
I got a call yesterday and have a tentative date set for November 21st. They just need to get the approval from my insurance and it will be finalized. I am getting excited and even after waiting this long, can'b believe it is a little over 3 weeks away.

Surgeon Consultation Scheduled
So I finally got my consult scheduled and of course the surgeon I want has the longest wait time. So I will see him on 10/27, then it will probably be 3 to 4 weeks after that for my surgery. I was really hoping to have had it done by end of September early October, but those plans are out. How long did everyone else have…

Paleo Challenge
My box is starting their spring Paleo Challenge this Saturday and wanted to know if anyone else is doing one this spring. This will be my first Paleo Challeng, but seems like a completely doable goal. I don't think I would want to eat 100% Paleo the rest of my life, but 1 month is a good trial run.

Finding your 1RM
I am new to crossfit and am finding it dificult to find my one rep max on exercises. By the time you work your way through weights trying to get there it seems I am exhausted to try what could be my 1RM. Did anyone else come across the same issues? I guess my next attempt I will have a baseline to improve from, but I found…

First Day
I am starting my first day in the on-ramp at my box tonight. I am a little nervous, but mostly excited.
-
Just starting out
I have just signed up with my local box and will be starting my ramp class on Marcy 4th. I was looking for any pointers you might have or any good words to help me with my following concerns. I am a big man and can't do unassisted pullups. Honestly I have a hard time holding up my weight with my grip strenght. I know they…
