My name's Sam and I'm 25 years old and have been married to the love of my life for 2 years. I don't have any kids yet, but do have a crazy wild beast (golden or lab mix) named Lady. During the school year, I work as a speech-language pathologist and during the summer I get to have unlimited me time! I have been…

Greek Yogurt
So I've been looking for a way to have my yogurt without too much added sweetener (real or artificial) and I finally discovered it. Plain Greek Yogurt + Cinnamon + Fresh Blueberries+ Extract of your choice (Vanilla is good, but lemon extract is where it's at!)= Delightful The blueberries give it the sweetness it needs in…

C section/Breastfeeding moms?
I'm looking for friends in a similar situation to mine to help motivate/challenge each other. I'm 2 months post emergency c section and have been cleared to exercise by my OB. I'm looking to lose about 10 pounds, but mostly just want to be stronger and get my body back. I'm also breastfeeding and want to maintain my…

Fruits and Veggies
So I finally feel like I've got the water intake down and I'm working hard toward exercise goals. I'm also finally getting enough calcium in my diet (don't like doing too many supplements for calcium due to kidneys) and protein isn't too bad. So, my new goal is to make sure I get in my daily recommended 2 1/2 cups veggies…

Pregnancy Strength Routine?
Hi! I'm currently 11wks pregnant and am looking for ways to incorporate more strength training into my daily routine. Prior to pregnancy, I was doing a modified 5X5 using adjustable dumbbells instead of a bar (no gym membership), let me ins instead of pullups, and adding bench dips and hanging bent leg raises. I stopped my…

Back on the Saddle Again: Week 1
I fell of the wagon for a while when it comes to daily reading, but I'm back and ready to give it another try. Luckily our God is a forgiving God. I would love some friends to join me on the quest for spiritual (and physical) fitness if you would like. Yesterday, the hubby and I read Proverbs 9-10. I love the verse that…

Here are a few of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/user/yogayak - This isn't a video per se, but a youtube channel with a lot of yoga videos. If I…

Ashtanga question
I don't have the arm strength yet to do arm balances (rooster crow, etc,). Are there any modifications to the poses or alternate poses that would help build me up to that point? Also, poses with similar benefits to headstand that I could do during that point in the series?

Yoga + running (or other sport/ exercise)
I am enjoying building my "practice" so much. I love the feeling of completing a yoga session. I have also begun the C25K program. I'm noticing that the yoga breathing and pacing is carrying over to my running, and I'm not getting tired/out of breath as quickly. Anyone else do yoga + running ? How has yoga helped your…

Song of the Week
I often feel closer to God through music. Here I will post a weekly song that can be used for meditation, prayer, worship, praise, or something that otherwise brings me closer to him. What translation do you use?
Translation is strictly a matter of preference, but, out of curiousity, what translation (or paraphrase) of the bible do you use? Do you prefer different translations for daily reading than you do studying? My go to Bible (most used) is NRSV (New Revised Standard Version). I also use a Life Application Study Bible that is…

When do YOU do your daily reading?
I usually do my reading at the end of the day before I go to sleep. It gives me a way to relax and also allows me to meditate/pray prior to ending my day. Mornings are just so hectic, so I feel rushed during my reading if I do it in the morning. When do you do your daily reading? Why did you choose that time?

Hip Alignment?
I seem to have trouble keeping my hips aligned properly for poses like pyramid and three point balances. When my instructor adjusts them or explains it, I eventually get them there, but I always seem to go back to the same, apparently bad, alignment. Any suggestions for improving this at home? I guess my question is..how…

Yoga Mats and Accessories
I have decided to start doing more yoga classes at a studio and need a new yoga mat. Any suggestions? It needs to be: a. relatively low cost ( I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a yoga mat) b. relatively durable (would like it to last for a while) c. thick (particularly for things like boat poses) Thanks everyone!
