Now what?
I completed C25K a couple of weeks ago and did my first official 5K race this past Saturday and finished in 28:30, which was 1:30 under my goal. I have had two runs this week but did them in the afternoon rather than the mornings like I did most of my C25K training and the 5K race. To be completely honest, the afternoon…

So Close to Goal That I Have to Share
My wife and I have been dieting and exercising since the first of the year and I am within just a couple of pounds of my goal weight so I thought this would be a good time to share my success story. We started out on our own with watching what we ate and getting rid of bad habits like eating a bowl of ice cream while…

When is your first 5K?
I just finished week 6 this morning and I have registered for my first 5K on Saturday, August 3rd. My hope is to break 30 minutes but I won't be too discouraged if I don't. This is more of a "bucket list" thing for me (even though I am only 46). How long after you complete the C25K program are you planning on running your…

For those that have already run their first "competitive" 5K
I will be running W9D3 and graduating on Friday and then running my first "competitive" 5K on Saturday, August 3rd. Throughout my training, I have been running by myself with some MFP and Nike+ buddies to keep me motivated. Since I have been running by myself at 5:30 every morning, I am a little nervous about running with…

Any opinions about E-boost Natural Powder?
I read an article in Prevention magazine where they said E-boost Natural Powder is a good alternative to sports or energy drinks before a workout. Has anyone tried this? I run early in the morning and I am looking for a boost to help me make it through not only the workout but my day.

C25K with the Nike+ App for this "old man"
First, I want to say that I love these message boards and just recently stumbled upon them. I just finished up Week 4 this morning and have been feeling pretty good. I have peaked at Week 5 and know that it get a whole lot tougher now but I am up for the challenge. I started dieting and exercising at the first of the year…

Is anyone else doing the C25K?
I just finished with week 3 of the C25K program and I am looking for a road race to complete at the end as my "reward" Is anyone else doing it? If so, are you also using the Nike+ to log your runs? Feel free to add me on Nike + - my user name is Mike_Rose46 Also, if anyone else knows of a good 5K in the Grand Rapids or…

C25K and Nike+
I am in the middle of week 2 of the C25K and also using the Nike+ app for the I-pod touch I take along for my workouts. Anyone else doing the C25K program that would like to stay motivated and held accountable?

Halfway to goal
My wife and I have been dieting, exercising and losing weight together. The first picture was taken about a year ago while we were on vacation in Florida and the second picture was taken last night when we were heading out to celebrate our anniversary. I hope the pictures post OK.

MFP Confessions - What is yours?
I never "eat back" my exercise calories and don't feel the least bit guilty about it. I log everything and will err on the side of over-estimating portion sides rather than trying to "cheat" and under-estimate. I almost always stay under my calorie goal and never feel like I am depriving myself of anything. I feel…

Container Gardening
Has anyone else done any container gardening? If so, what tips would you give us for growing some vegetables (tomatoes and peppers) and some herbs? We have started some plants from seeds and they are a few inches tall already but we aren't real sure what size containers we should transplant them in or how many per…

Not a Fan of the Lean Cuisine Salad Additions
I had a coupon for the Lean Cuisine Salad Additions and it was on sale so I thought I would try the cranberry chicken to give my salad a little more life. My opinion, in two short words, DON'T BOTHER. The flavor was not there and it made it difficult to finish my lunch. I will stick with grilling a chicken breast and…

What to do with all those egg yolks?
I have started eating just the egg whites, even when I eat the hardboiled eggs. But I'm wondering what to do with the yolks rather than just toss them. It just seems wasteful to me. Any suggestions?

Have you been inked and does your ink tell a story?
Many people that know me well probably wouldn't know this about me but I have two tattoos - one on the back of each shoulder. The first one is a bulldog and was in memory of my beloved bulldog that passed. I also got this one to prove to my wife that even accountants can be unpredictable. (I got it when she and the boys…

Any Veterans out there?
I have been on MFP for a couple of weeks but dieting since the first of the year. Total goal is to lose 80 pounds to get back down to the weight I was when I got out of the Air Force (security police) 25 years ago. I have made great progress so far and look to keep the motivation through great people here on MFP. Are there…

One Week In
I have been using MFP for a week now and dieting since the first of the year. I have lost 17 pounds total so far and 3 in the week I have been a part of MFP. I wouldn't mind a few new friends that could be encouraging but not overbearing, especially if we have something in common. I can handle people reading my diary (it's…

46 Year Old Male Just Getting Started with MFP
My wife and I are recent empty nesters and have decided that now it is our time to live our lives rather than being focused on our boys. I am going to grad school for my MBA, work in corporate accounting and do high school baseball, softball and football officiating. My goal is to lose 60 pounds before my reunion in August…

Just Started With My Wife
My wife and I just started with MFP and like the fact that we can see in black and white exactly the impact of our food and exercise choices on our progress. We have a goal to lose enough that we can comfortably go to the beach when we go to Siesta Key in May. I also have a reunion at the end of August with the squadron I…
