How to Overcome Emotional Eating
How did you overcome emotional eating? And don't give me any of that "I just started eating salad" or "I just decided not to do it anymore" crap. I am an emotional eater. I don't think I can contribute my weight solely to this issue, but I definitely contribute my inability to stick to any sort of plan to change my eating…

Soda Addiction
I love soda. It' like my crack. It tastes good. It feels good. When I can't have it I get irritable and will sometimes go to great lengths to have it. Has anyone else had trouble quitting soda? What made it stick for you?
-
Whole Egg vs. Egg White
I've been eating one whole egg in the morning but I'm thinking of changing to one egg white because of the calories. I think I've read/heard somewhere that there is a lot of nutrition in the yolk though. Any reason I should keep the yolk?
-
When To Stretch
I'm trying to increase my flexibility. Is it better to stretch before or after a cardio workout?
-
Slim Fast
I'd like to hear other people's experiences and opinions on using Slim Fast or other "diet shakes." My husband and I have been using Slim Fast for about a month now. He has one for lunch, with yogurt and peanut butter added to it. I use them as a snack, small meal (when I eat 5 or 6 meals a day instead of 3) or something…

Lessons I'm Learning About Eating Out
I've been cruising some restaurant menus as I think I'll need to eat out for dinner tonight. I've learned some important information. While viewing a menu I use to order from regularly, I find that the items I normally ordered varied from 130 calories for a cup of soup to 1510 calories for a baked potato. Mayonnaise is…

Artificial Sweeteners
Are artificial sweeteners a good thing or a bad thing? Are there some that are better than others? Are some outright dangerous? Do they make you crave more sugar?
-
None diet/exercise changes
Has anyone seen an increase in their health/weight due to changes not related to diet or exercise? Such as limiting screen time?
-
Stress and Food
Am I hungry because I'm stressed? My baby has been crying for over an hour, and I'm starving. All I can think about is ordering a pizza (soda included!) I can't (or won't) put my baby down to even make a sandwich much less eat it! In this sort of situation a salad or smoothie has no satisfaction at all! Help! What is the…

First Thing You Changed
What are the first few things you changed in your diet that had an effect on your weight loss?

No Eating at Night?
Does anyone believe you shouldn't eat at night time? Do you stop eating at a certain time? Since I've started monitoring my calories I've been getting really hungry late in the evenings, even waking up at night hungry. Is it best to not eat during these times? (No, my calories aren't too low, I'm doing 1580 plus I eat back…

How to locate active friends on mfp
When I do a search in "Find Members" is seems to come up with people who haven't bothered to even post a picture, and often times just signed up today. I'm looking to add a few more mfp. I'd like to add people I know, but when I put in an age, sex and location restriction to locate them, like I said, it comes up with…

How accurate are you?
Do you weight and measure every little thing? Or do you eyeball it? Are there some things you are more precise with than others? Did you use to measure everything but are now confident enough in your perception to make guesses?

Too Much Too Soon?
I've been on myfitnesspal for about 4 weeks now. I started by doing 20 minutes 6 days a week on the elliptical. During the 3rd week I started increasing some days to 25 or 30 minutes a day. In my fourth week now I've started using the elliptical twice a day, for a total of up to 45 minutes. Should I be afraid of burning…

Metamucile and Citracel
I had a friend told me she lost 20 lbs. in part due to taking a lot of Citracel. Has any lost weight by adding this sort of fiber to your diet?

Eating out without nutrition info.
Tonight I am going to my husband's favorite barbeque restaurant, which is locally owned and does not provide the nutritional information for their menu. How do I enter this into my food diary? I don't want to go over, but I don't want to go out to eat and not eat anything either. Do some people just never eat anything they…

Fast Food and Cheat Meals (Days)
My plan was to have one "cheat" meal each week. Fast food is my weakness. I have found the last couple of weeks I have planned it, it is easier to resist the rest of the week. However, one fast food meal is often more calories than I'm allotted for the day. I'm allotted 1580, but the meal I planned to eat from Arby's today…

Adding Fruits and Vegetables
I've tried for years to like raw celery and carrots. That's not happening. I love vegetables but more "non traditional" veggies, like bell peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli and tomatoes. (I don't like peas, green beans, lima beans, or raw celery and carrots.) I also love fruit, but not always the "traditional". I'm…

Food that is "filling" for more than an hour
I find that food that fills me up fast tends to leave me starving a couple of hours later. What are foods that you find "filling" long term?
-
Bad Days
Has anyone lost weight weight with an occasional "bad day" where you go way over your calories? I am typically too busy on Tuesdays to work out, and I also typically eat out for dinner on those nights. I'd like to have a day off maybe every two weeks to just eat one "bad" meal and not have to "work it off." Is that…

Dry Pasta vs. Cooked
Sometimes I can only get nutritional information on pasta/noodles in their dried state. How many cooked noodles result from one cup dry?
-
Headaches
Can changing my diet and increasing my exercise be causing me to get headaches?
-
What you eat, or just how much?
Does it matter what you eat as long as you stay under your calorie goal? I eat a lot of crap (lots of cheese, sour cream, candy, cookies, hardly any fruit, and not enough veggies.) I'm staying under my calorie goal each day, but is that enough? Would it be easier or more affective if I ate better foods?
-
Cold, Depressed and Hungry
I'm finding it hard to resist the urge to over eat today. I'm tired, I'm cold, I'm depressed and all I seem to be able to think about is eating. Looking for any support, encouragement, ideas, words of advice/wisdom, etc. to help me stay strong.

Is it possible that I've gained?
I have been at this for almost 2 weeks. Four days ago I weighed myself and I'd lost 4 lbs. Since then I've weighed myself a couple of times and the scale said I'd gained 2.5 lbs. The difference is that I typically weight myself before I eat anything in the morning and the last two times were after eating (once right after…

Sugar
I've been doing really well staying close to my recommended calories but I always go way over on the recommended sugar. Is this something I should be concerned about?
-
Does everything count?
Do you count every day things like house keeping and walking to the bus stop? Do the little things count or should I focus more on "real" work outs?
-
Skipping Meals
Is it ever ok to skip a meal? I normally eat 3 meals and a snack. But today I had fast food for lunch and I'm (amazingly!) not hungry at dinner time. I'm already way over my calories for the day.

The Little Things (Mom Stuff)
My baby thinks it's great to feed me. So occasionally I'll eat 3-5 goldfish or other finger food from her hands. Should I be concerned about those calories? It seems to little to even calculate. I'm not worried that it'll "add up" to a lot. We're talking maybe the equivalent of 10 goldfish a day. I'm just not keeping up…
