Check the Toddler Section!
Took me a while to notice this...but a lot of the sweets marketed to toddlers are low sugar and vegan. I really like Organix cereal bars (just cereal bars, but with a really nice ingredients list) and Bear monster claws (gummies, but with no gelatine or added sugar!). Even some baby foods are just smoothies without added…

Giving Blood
I'm sure this topic has come up a thousand times before, but please help. I'll be giving blood tomorrow for the first time in over a year. What's the best way to ensure I replace the nutrients lost, but don't use this as an opportunity to over eat? I presume that extra sugar will be good for me, and I intend to eat…

Suggestions for a Vegetable Slicer?
I hope this thread is in the right place. Please let me know if you know of a better place to ask.:) I'm looking for a good vegetable slicer. I need one that can dice onions (since that's what I do most of), and that lasts for a decent amount of time. I'd really prefer to get persona recommendations of products that people…

Delicious, sweet, moist, vegan, chocolatey cupcakes for two
These cupcakes are so good, seriously. They're not exactly low-cal, which is why the recipe only makes enough for two. Cupcakes are a sometimes food, and it's a pain to make a batch just to have to figure out who to give them to so you don't have them in the house, calling to you to eat them all. This is a scaled down…

Healthy Beer Choices in the UK
Hi guys.:D I'm asking this on behalf of a friend. I got him into MFP because it worked so well for me. My friend often drinks beer with his friends, and doesn't want to give that up, for many reasons. In some ways, it can be a healthier choice, because it can be a choice between sitting at home and snacking, or spreading…

From a 29-inch Waist to 25!
:D At my heaviest, I was 140lbs, with 36-29-37 measurements. Now, I'm 124lbs, and my measurements are 35-25-36.:D Let's play spot the difference. ...and, as of yesterday... That last one is particularly important to me. Why? Because, up till now, I always thought I was too fat and ugly to get a piercing there.

Men don't get food cravings?
I was recently listening to a podcast (it was one from Stuff Mom Never Told You - check it out, it's awesome) about food cravings, and a study was mentioned which had indicated that something like 30% of men simply don't experience food cravings. That is, while they may think "I feel like eating ---", they won't get "MUST…

Non-Fruit Snacks?
I tend to carry apples around with me for the following reasons (in order of importance); * They're vegan, and if I can't find anything else, it really helps to have them on me. * I can put them in my bag or pocket and forget about them for a few days. They don't get injured, they're still good when I want them, and…

Hollywood Thin
I reached 125lbs a while ago, which is a perfectly healthy weight for me. It's on the low end of BMI, for my height, but a bit high for my frame. I'm aiming to go to 115lbs, but I'm sabotaging myself. It's not a matter of willpower. I'm a vegan, and I spent three months sticking to my calories perfectly, until I reached…

Potatoes make my mouth feel weird!
I was raised on chips (fries), so I used to eat a lot of potato. Over the last month or so, I've eaten very little (I've generally found that it's not worth the calories). When I have eaten it recently, it's made my mouth feel weird. It feels like there's a starchy coating on my mouth, that's quite irritating. I did get…

50-60 Calorie Peanut Butter Bon-Bons (Vegan)
Based on this recipe --> http://walking.about.com/od/dessertrecipes/r/pbbonbons.htm These are amazingly simple. And so yummy! Ingredients 20g Cereal (I used Tesco Special Flakes, which, incidentally, are more fortified than Special K, have less sugar, and are much cheaper. You're welcome.). Fruit/Berries - the batch in the…

Etiquette
How do you handle it, when you know that people on MFP are commenting on your status updates without reading them? For instance, repeating something you've mentioned in the update as if they're informing you of something new? Personally, I find those kind of blanket comments slightly rude - if you can't be bothered to read…

Hi
I've been around for about two months, but I've never introduced myself. I'm a vegan who works in fast food. I study maths and krav maga. My name is Kali, but Bartelmy/Barelmy works too. I've never been fat, as such. I've been overweight, at eleven stone, but never severely. I've also never been happy with my body. My…

Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
How many more calories should one take in while pregnant/breastfeeding? I've heard that nutritional needs are basically the same for the first six months, and only go up by 200-300 calories a day for the third trimester. Is that right? Basically, maintenance, then gaining half a pound a week? How about while breastfeeding?…

Pamper Yourself
You deserve to be happy, and healthy, and to treat yourself well. You deserve to enjoy a variety of good food. You deserve to wear nice clothes. You deserve to have more energy, and feel proud of yourself. You deserve a well-cared-for body, that you're happy with, that does what you want it to. You deserve to treat…

Uneven Weight Loss
At the moment, you can count my ribs, but I still have some fat over my stomach. My ribs are worrying me a bit. I keep poking them. They're covered with muscle directly under my breasts, and some fat/muscle on my back, but at the sides, they're clearly visible. Should there be muscle there? Is this normal?

Calories while Sick
I seem to have either the cold or flu.:( Full on joint pains, headaches, up-and-down fever, mild hallucinations, sore throat, etc. Not too snuffly, though. Yesterday, because I was hungrier than normal, I decided to go up to 250 above my calories, taking me up to maintenance. If I go higher than that, will that be gaining,…

Apps that help you get active
There're a few apps I use regularly which have really helped to up my activity level on a day to day basis. Firstly, Geocaching ( http://www.geocaching.com/iphone/ ). Short explanation is, people all around the world hide caches, and then other people can look up the info online - or using the app - and go hunt them down.…

Body Fat Percentage
I want to focus on lowering my percentage of body fat, rather than specifically weight. This may be a silly question, but should I do anything different, or just carry on counting calories?

Two weeks, right on schedule
MFP just informed me that I've logged in for 15 days in a row. I'm set to only lose 1/2 lb a week, and that's exactly what I've lost - one pound. I'm pleased.:D I'm also getting better at putting together meals under 300 calories, and making better choices (like switching from Kingsmill 50:50 bread, at 94 calories a slice,…

Single-Serving Pancakes
1/3 Cup of Plain Flour 1/3 Cup of Water 1 Tsp Sugar 1 Tsp Baking Powder 1/2 Tsp Walnut Oil (you can use any kind, really, but my calories are calculated for walnut oil). Dash of Salt. A few drops of flavouring (optional - I used almond extract). Mix all ingredients together, and leave to stand for ten minutes. Cook. I made…

Question on logging a recipe
This seemed like the best place to ask, but let me know if you think I should post the question elsewhere. http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog/2007/01/03/tofu-fish-sticks/ ^ this recipe includes a marinade, and is then baked in a pan coated with oil. How do I count the marinade and the oil?

Nights Out
I'm 22. Sometimes, I go out drinking. It's not every week - closer to once a month. Anyway, how do people normally manage a night out? I plan on drinking a fair amount, which will add a ton of calories, and I'll also need to line my stomach with something first. Is it better to save up some calories from earlier in the…

More Protein, Less Sugar
I've been tracking my food for a few days now, and while I'm generally okay with keeping the calories under the limit, I never realised before just how much sugar I eat. I'm also a vegan, and I find that my protein is low. I think I eat okay. I snack on fruit, which is where the majority of the sugar comes from. Any tips…

Restaurant Food
How do you guys generally go about logging calories from restaurants? I'm a vegan, so it's harder to find the calories for generic portions of whatever I've had. Any tips? I'm wondering about something specific, so if anyone's brilliant about guessing calorie content from vague descriptions, I can give you that info.
