Potatoes make my mouth feel weird!

I was raised on chips (fries), so I used to eat a lot of potato. Over the last month or so, I've eaten very little (I've generally found that it's not worth the calories).
When I have eaten it recently, it's made my mouth feel weird. It feels like there's a starchy coating on my mouth, that's quite irritating. I did get this before, but it was so minor that it didn't bother me. Now it's really strong.:(
Does anyone else get that? Is it an allergy? What?
Edit: Oh, and butter beans do the same thing.

Not with potatoes but bananas make my tongue tingle which I think may be a mild allergy.0

I haven't had any weird feelings in my mouth while eating certain foods, but I've had the weird tastes. I've been trying not to eat tons of salt and when I do have it (mainly from fast food) it tastes really bad. Bad enough to make me not want to finish the food I'm eating. Happens with salt and sweets for me. No more donuts, candy, and depends on what kind of chocolate. Can't have too much of it before it ruins the food for me.0
