Is your body shape (i.e. pear, hourglass, apple) dependent o
I guess my question is if your body shape depens on your weight and how you choose to work out or are you inherently one shape? I've been apple all my life but I hate my belly. Is it possible for someone like me to become an hourglass figure?

Should I be lifting while trying to lose fat? ..
Hi all, So I know that increasing muscle mass increases your metabolic rate, etc, but I am noticing that I am getting quite bulky and broad but with the layers of fat on top. Rather than lifting weights, should I just focus on moves that use body weight? I feel like my body is getting out of proportion... Any thoughts…

Sugar in fruit
Hi! So I am always over my daily sugar goals because I like to eat fruit. Does my body recognize that this is not the same as sugar from candy? After all sugar is sugar but obviously fruit has other nutrients and vitamins. Thoughts!?

Calories or what you eat?
Hey all, I know this is a topic discussed before, but I keep going back and forth. Do you think that its about the number of calories or more so of what you eat. I'm talking about in terms of weight loss only. If i eat 4 donuts at 300 cal apiece and eat 1200 will I lose the same amount of weight as if I ate 1200 calories…

Anyone try calorie cycling? Does it work?

5'2" female: 40+ lbs off (pics)
Hi all, Thought I would share because I have been in a slump for the past 2 weeks (have been gaining and losing the same lb) but I realized that I am proud of how far I have come and that I am a work in progress and there is nothing wrong with that. I wore a bikini for the first time in public yesterday with my belly flab…

Is sodium an important factor in weight loss?
Hi, my trainer stresses that I eat foods low in fat, sugar and sodium. I understand the first two, but does it really make a big difference if I'm eating higher amounts of sodium versus lower amounts. Obviously, the less is better. but will it really slow me down if I'm eating higher amounts of sodium? I ask because I'm in…

Does weight Gain/loss/insecurities affect your sex life?
Hi, so I recently realized, while dancing (grinding) a couple of nights ago with a couple of guys, that I am not comfortable/confident about my body in terms of sharing it with guys. I don't know if those guys could pick up on my insecurities or how into me they were, if they were disgusted by my stomach. Though I wanted…

Chicken and Rice (Halal)!!!
So I love me some chicken and rice, lamb and rice, combo platter, whatever from NYC's halal stands. But, the dish has over 2,000 calories. Any ideas as to how I can continue eating it (not cut it out of my life) but not kill my calories for the day??

So when do you start seeing a difference/ what to do for mor
Hi, all, Just wondering how long it takes for you to be able to actually see a difference. I lost about 7 lbs which is about 1/5 of how much I gained, but I'm not seeing any difference. I really want my face to slim down!!! Also, what do you do when you feel bloated in the morning?

Fear of gaining weight back!
Hi all, So this is the start of my second week using mfp and I've lost 6 lbs so far which I feel good about. I have this HUGE fear that I will gain all this weight back eventually, especially because I'm losing it fast. I mark down my weight every other day because within two days I will gain 1 or .5 lbs and then by the…

How have your weight issues affected your self-perception?
My weight issues have always been a part of my subconcious and concious insecurities. Sometimes no matter how many other things I like about myself, my weight prevents me from truly loving myself and accepting myself. Everytime I look into a mirror, a little part of me wonders how I let myself gain so much weight. How…

only calorie count?
Hi, So i'm seeing a lot of people saying you have to have at least 1200calories to lose weight. Why is this? Also, if I just eat 1200 calories a day and don't excercise will I still lose weight since my net calorie intake is small? Also, if i start doing weight training now, will I become bulky from building muscle on top…

2 lbs a week realistic?
Is it honestly realistic to try to lose 2 lbs a week? Will I be able to keep it off? I have to lose as much weight as possible by April 13th and I feel as if I waited too long to start so that if I don't start to lose a serious amount of weight per week, I won't have changed really by my deadline!! What do you think? Also,…

Hi, Hoping this site will be the motivation I need!
Hi, all, About 5 ago, I lost weight and was happy with my body and health. I had so much will power and self control. Over the last 2 years, I have put on 35 pounds. I am only 5' 2'' so this 35 lb weight gain is almost a 30% gain which is so unhealthy and gross (my cholesterol is high as well). Also, I skipped 8/12 periods…
