Welcome! Check in here.
Wow! Less than a day into the group and we have 37 members so far! Welcome, everyone!! This thread will be a central place for everyone to check in with their CoTH username and a little bit about themselves. For those not familiar with MFP, it has many wonderful tools for tracking your plans. I use the iPhone app to track…

Sync appears to be coming back from outage
After not being able to sync MFP to Fitbit at all yesterday, it appears to be slowly coming back today. This morning I logged my workout on MFP and it showed up almost immediately on my Fitbit dashboard as well. My steps and calorie adjustments still aren't showing on MFP, but I'm hopeful this is a sign that they're…

Why do fruit and vegetables make me hungry?
I know I don't get enough fruits and vegetables in my diet, but whenever I make an effort to include them I feel like I am starving! About 10 minutes after eating any sort of fruit or vegetables, my stomach starts rumbling and I get intense hunger pangs. The only thing that will make it stop is some sort of carb or a big…

Colorado Springs, Anyone?
I'm a fairly recent transplant from Florida to Colorado Springs. I have already discovered and explored many great trails, including the dreaded Incline (best so far is 1 hour 2 minutes). I'm planning to hike the Barr to the top of Pike's Peak with my cousin this fall. Any other Springs/El Paso County folks here?

Impact of moving from sea level to high altitude
I currently live at sea level on the coast of Florida, but I'm trying to talk my husband into moving so I can go to school in Colorado Springs (6,000 ft). Has anyone ever made this sort of a move? How did it effect your workouts? I take a lot of pride in being in pretty good shape now and I think my ego may be bruised a…

One year later!
Last September my husband and I took a trip to the Florida Keys for our 9th anniversary. At that time I had been on MFP for about a month and had lost 5 pounds. This year it was a cruise to the Bahamas. I decided to bring along my old shorts for a little "before and after" shot. What a difference a year makes!

From 30DS to BR
I've been doing 30DS level 3 and am about to start BR. Is BR going to be too easy in the beginning since I'm used to level 3, or is it a good challenge?

Kinda disappointed
Oops. Nevermind  Disappointment averted.

Would love input on calorie intake
After being on MFP for several months and losing 30 pounds, I finally appeared to hit a plateau with my net goal set at 1,650. I didn't lose any weight for 3 months. I took a month off and ate around 2,000 calories per day and only walked for exercise a couple of days a week. I bought a Fitbit and have worn it every day…

Not a rider...yet
Hi ladies! I'm not a rider yet, but I am working on it. Since having to give up horseback riding I have been looking for a reasonably less expensive alternative. My main obstacle is convincing my husband that I "need" a bike. Of course, I don't need a bike, but I WANT one. A bike would truly serve no practical purpose,…

Autism
Back when I was in high school it seemed like every kid who was failing was suddenly getting a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. Today the "fashionable" diagnosis seems to be Autism or Aspergers. My 7 year old daughter has cerebral palsy due to extreme prematurity. She has physical limitations which require her to use a wheelchair…

Anyone ever hired an advocate?
I'm getting really tired of being blown off my by daughter's school and I am seriously considering hiring an advocate to attend our next IEP meeting. I need a shark in my corner because I tend to freeze up when it's me against a room full of people who only seem to care about their budget. Has anyone had any experience…

Any CP moms out there?
My 7 year old daugher, Lily, was born 15 weeks premature. She has cerebral palsy as a result of bleeding on the brain. The biggies in her long list of issues are hydrocephaus (requiring a shunt and more than a dozen brain surgeries), epilepsy, and precocious puberty. She gets around by crawling because she is unable to…

Shuttle Discovery
Did anyone else on her route get the see the flyover today? I live on the coast of Florida not far south of Canaveral. I took my family up to the beach at sunrise to watch from Patrick AFB. They flew right over us, then made their turn and flew over us again heading north to Washington D.C. and the Smithsonian.

"Your body will tell you.."
I love all of the responses from people who say, "your body will tell you if you're not eating enough". Isn't NOT listening to our bodies what got us here in the first place? My body constantly told me to stop eating. I never listened. I got fat.

Which is better, machines or body weight?
The apartment complex where I live has a nice little gym that is included in my rent. I have used it almost daily for my cardio and have been doing my strength training at home. I am starting to get really bored with the body weight exercises and want to try something new, but my gym has only the Precor weight machines, no…

How is everybody doing?
I see the weigh in sticky has been dead for a few weeks. Status reports anyone?

GOAL!
This morning I hit my goal of 140 or less with a weigh in of 139.8. I'm 5'4", 36 years old, and my BF is 22.5%. I started with MFP back on September 5th, weighing 169 pounds. It has taken me almost 6 months to drop 29 pounds, but for the first time ever I have done it the "right" way. No crash diets. No pills. I ate what I…

Spinoff of the Ocean Thread- Snow
Who here has never experienced snow? Shortly after I moved to Florida a friend of mine found an ice scraper in my car and asked what it was. He then asked me what snow felt like. I was kind of at a loss to explain it to someone who had never experienced snow's many textures.

Membership after 1 week
I am very happy to report that out of our 57 members, 40 are showing as having logged into MFP within at least the last 3 days! I hope to see some of our missing members return soon. Great job to all who have stuck with us this first week!

What works for YOU?
I think the biggest thing I have learned in my struggle for fitness has been that there is not one method or plan that will work for everyone. The key is to find the right foods in the right amounts and a form of exercise that you find yourself wanting to do. I think of myself as a professional dieter. I have done Weight…

Programming BF scale
I recently had to replace my old body fat scale. The new one has an "athlete" setting and I am having a hard time choosing the right setting for it. The manual says to set it to athlete if I exercise vigorously for 2 hours 3 days a week. I exercise vigorously for at least an hour, sometime 1.5, 6-7 days a week. I also…

I'm tossing my scale
Yesterday my scale stopped working. After 3 months of being a habitual daily weigher I have decided I am not going to replace it and I am somewhat terrified :frown: It's time to let go of my dependence. I have never fit into the "ideal weight" of the BMI charts, being very muscular and large framed (6.25" wrist). Ten years…

Body Fat? Which is most accurate
Now that I am nearing a BMI of 25 (26.1 now) I want to focus more on using my body fat percentage to determine when I have reached a good weight. The problem is that I can not seem to find a number I feel I can count on. I've tested 3 ways. BF scale, Military measurement, and Covert Bailey. I am getting a huge spread of…

C25K round one-DONE
After taking a year off from running (and gaining 24 pounds) with an injured knee I never thought I would be able to get back into it, but with the help of C25K I can call myself a runner again! For this round I was alternating walking and jogging at 5 mph. Next week I will restart, but alternate 5mph and 7mph sections…

About to finish C25K- What next?
Today I started my final week of C25K. I've been doing all of the running portions at 5mph and want to start focusing on getting faster. My goal is to eventually complete a 2 mile run in under 18:00. I was thinking of restarting the C25K program and subbing the walk for a 5mph jog and doing the run portions at 6-7mph until…
