My advice, don't. Drastically shorten your route or put it off for another day. It's far too easy for inexperienced hikers to become quickly overwhelmed. 8.5 miles is not an easy distance, even in good conditions. I live in Colorado and do a lot of hiking year round. Even if there is a bit of a path worn, the going can…

Atheist. Stopped believing in any god at about the same time I stopped believing in Santa.

I have a Fitbit One and a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor. Fitbit does have a HR reading watch type tracker now, but I've been reading some iffy reviews while they still work the bugs out. For the most accurate calorie burn numbers, you definitely want something that is taking a constant HR reading. I wear my Fitbit all the…

What are you not understanding? It tells you how many calories you have burned so far in the day. If you link up to MFP, it will add or subtract from your calorie allowance based on our goals and activity level for the day. I have mine set up for this and it works great.
-
You need to understand also that 1200 is a MINIMUM. You need to be getting at least that many calories. I hate that MFP's number goes red when you go over. It sends the wrong message. I've suggested to them that it be red if you eat too few calories. In this case, green means GO. GO means keep eating. I used to think…

My back country firearm of choice is a Glock 20. I know many hunters who carry that one for a backup weapon to supplement their long guns. I think if any handgun is going to have a chance with a bear, that's a good one. I am generally more concerned about my safety from human critters than the woodland type though, so I…

I live in Colorado Springs and do a lot of hiking. For short hikes around town I carry water, and wear comfy running shoes. For longer hikes, or those away from town, I carry a backpack containing water, a UV water purifier in case I need to restock from a stream, snacks, a thermal blanket, a whistle, a knife, small first…

I started with Ultra when they first came out and am now using a One. I have no complaints. I personally think the bracelet or watch types are ugly, so I like that the One can be clipped to my bra or waistband and go unnoticed. I charge it every Saturday night and wear it 23.5 hours per day (it's not waterproof, so it has…

I'm dressed for a workout, so no jewelry right now. Leggings $18 Tank top $5 Shoes $45 Socks $2 Undies $7 Bra $35 Sweatshirt $40

Shower and poop. The best cleanse and detox program out there. Really, you don't need to "detox". Eat things that make you feel good and drink water. That's all that is required.

Not counting calories or exercising is how I got fat. I got down to 123 pounds using MFP. I then stopped counting calories. Guess what happened? Over the course of a year I put 25 pounds back on. Sometimes you have to be willing to work for what you want and continue to count calories, even when you get into maintenance. A…

I use both. I wear my Fitbit all day, but also use a HRM for workouts and manually log those calories to adjust the Fitbit number. For example, I hiked today. My Fitbit, only counting steps and changes of elevation showed a 395 calorie burn. My HRM gave me a burn of 840 for that workout. The hike was in loose snow, which…

I crave sugar too. Not because I'm addicted to it, but because it makes things taste better. I will consume 50-150 grams per day. It has in no way hindered my weight loss. If you want to cut back on sugars, great. Just don't blame the sugar for making you fat. It take a lot more than just sugar to pack on the pounds or…

I wear shoes. Vacuuming the carpet frequently will help to keep the pile from becoming flattened.

I do. I too have tried and always failed at "diets". Now I keep it simple. I eat about 500 calories per day less than I burn. When I stay on task, log, and exercise, it works. I did manage to regain 15 pounds when I stopped logging for about a year, so I am back into the routine now and losing fat again. I burn about 2100…

Yup. Vegan does not equal automatically healthy. I have a few vegan friends here on MFP.

You're going to be sore the next day, but it's doable. I have bad knees, but I am fine going up stairs and up hill. Going back down is the problem, but you'll have an elevator for that ;) . Pacing yourself is going to be key. Take your time and don't rush in the beginning or you will pay for it later. I do a trail near my…

Mine is now fully functional. Glad to have it back.

Vegan is not a diet for weight loss. If you approach it as such, you are likely to fail. There are plenty of vegans on MFP with a lot of weight to lose. Oreo cookies are vegan...as is a lot of other "junk " food. Be sure you're doing this for the right reasons.

Hometown is Duluth, MN. Looks like the current is -16 with a wind chill of -42. Glad I don't live there anymore. Though it's only 19 in Colorado Springs right now. Yesterday we were in the 50s.

I use the negative adjustment as a motivator to keep moving throughout the day. I hate losing calories I have earned, so I make a point to keep moving.
-
Lump me into those who haven't had a successful sync since last night. I've unsynced, resynced, logged out, logged in, etc, etc, etc. I know it'll come back eventually. It always does, but it's still frustrating since I rely pretty heavily on the calorie adjustment to help me set my eating goal for the day.
-
When I go I just do a large side of the spicy greenbeans (240 calories) and some brown rice.
-
Yup. I feel better if I'm up and moving, not sitting around feeling sorry for myself. If I need to lighten up a bit I will, but I still make sure I get some sort of exercise.
-
I tried. Now I have 10-15 pounds to lose again. I have to log to know if I'm eating the right calories and to keep my honest.
-
This. If you feel the need to log minor fluctuations, maybe you could do it in a separate app. I use Tactio to track weight. That said, I never had that problem when I was set for maintenance. Logging my weight did nothing to change my allowances when I had my goal set to maintain.

I moved to my chosen place about a year and a half ago. Colorado Springs. I've previously lived in Minnesota and Florida too.
-
Same here. I wear my One all day, but for workouts I will also wear my FT4 and manually log the calories burned on MFP, which I have set to sync with Fitbit.

I guess I'm a "stay at home mom". I homeschool my 10 year old son, and my daughter has cerebral palsy and severe behavioral disabilities, so I don't have time for much else.
