"Your body will tell you.."

I love all of the responses from people who say, "your body will tell you if you're not eating enough".

Isn't NOT listening to our bodies what got us here in the first place? My body constantly told me to stop eating. I never listened. I got fat.

Yeah, someone told me that, and I was like "Oh, hell no, I take no chances. That gets wrapped up and ejected, pronto. No excuses."

my mind tricked my body and told me to stop eating. i listened. my hair fell out, my periods stopped, my fingernails chipped, my skin turned yellowish and i couldnt make it through the day without a five hour nap.

if thats not my body talking to me then i dont know what is!

    ^^This... for sure!

Weight Watchers has a "Simply Filling" plan where you can eat as much of certain foodsa you like, but only to satisfaction. Ummm.... yeah... that never worked for me. After 8 years of working on my weight loss, and 115 pounds lost, I STILL have problems knowing when I'm satisfied/full... or just not listening and continuing to eat anyway!

I love how this turned into getting pregnant, lol!!! I ovulated when I breastfed exclusively the first time, but not the second. Proof the body changes!

How about eating so much so often that a person thought they had heartburn?

It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine that people repeatedly say, listen to your body. There are so so many people on here that are undereating and aren't eating what they need because they don't feel hungry... Because they trained themselves to eat less than they need.

If I listened to my body when I started, I never would have pursued options to get a more accurate burn count. I knew LOGICALLY that my numbers were right for me, but I couldn't depend on my hungry pangs to clue me in. I didn't have any! So I did research and upped my calories based on that and tadaaaa after a couple days I was hungry ALL THE TIME. I increased my dietary intake by 1k+calories a day, did not gain anything lasting, but it never would have happened if I listened to my body.

Telling someone to do that is so not helpful. Whether we overate or underate, most of us are here because we aren't able to interpret the cues correctly and need to retrain ourselves to fuel more naturally.

Sometimes it really is GERD. Suddenly upping your calorie intake by a significant amount can create hyper production of acid... If you already over-ate, you can be prone to a hiatal hernia, which in turn will allow the excess acid to come up. It happened to me when I rehabbed from anorexia, the chest pains were so bad that I thought I was having a heartattack

Yeah, it's a saying that really annoys me.

I mean obviously if you're feeling tired and hungry all the time, you should listen to your body then and perhaps raise calories, but for people that say listen to your body to tell you when you're full, or to tell you when you're tired from working out etc

But I got fat because my body is rubbish at telling me I'm full, and I gave up too easy from exercise because I'm lazy :P

If everyone could listen to their body, people wouldn't get as fat

(I mean, obv there's been times I've eaten even after I knew I was full, but on a day to day basis...your body can suck at communications)

And sometimes the body DOESN'T tell you!

My friends and I just did a "biggest loser" contest, and one of my friends I am soooo proud of because she finally lost enough weight to fit back into Old Navy clothes. The kicker? She's on medication that the doctor warned her would make her constantly hungry, shut off her satiety mechanism. So she's learned what she needs to eat to fuel her body and sticks with it DESPITE intense hunger brought on by medication.

    I don't know if I'm that strong!!
