I'm tossing my scale

Yesterday my scale stopped working. After 3 months of being a habitual daily weigher I have decided I am not going to replace it and I am somewhat terrified :frown:

It's time to let go of my dependence. I have never fit into the "ideal weight" of the BMI charts, being very muscular and large framed (6.25" wrist). Ten years ago I was in the best shape of my life. I was doing manual labor on a horse farm 6 days a week and was very strong, but my muscles on the scale made me believe I was fat and I have had body image issues ever since.

Since September I have dropped 21 pounds, reaching my initial goal of 145 pounds. I am back in size 4 jeans, net 1,500 calories per day, strength train 4 days a week, and run 3 days a week. I don't have my "barn body" back yet, but I am no longer going to allow that stupid little blinking number tell me how I should feel about myself.

Weight is but one factor; I measure my waist, neck and have a scale that give a body fat reading in addition to weight.

When I first started my journey, I weighed 100kg at 5'3....my plan was to lose 40kg....I lost 20kg....lost track, gained some of that weight back and just getting back on track.

I think what de-railed me was the obsession of the weight loss after awhile, so did quick diets that guaranteed me 5kg weight loss in a week (it did, but then gained a couple back pretty quickly & stuffed me mentally when I was doing things so naturally) & started pushing myself beyond what I enjoyed at the gym which made it feel like a chore, when I was happy pumping it out and loved being a gym bunny...I should have stuck to what was working in the first place, while it was easy and natural, rather than the weight obsession make me look for quicker ways to get there.

I don't want my journey to be about weight loss, I want that to be a by-product!! I am choosing a healthy lifestyle - to eat healthy, without limiting myself to strict or crazy diets, or even denying myself of the occasional treat, and enjoying being active and allow my body to feel healthy and alive as a result....the weight will come off along the way, but I am not going to get caught in the trap of how quickly, and pushing myself to do those crazy diets to quickly lose a few extra kilos...

I am now going by how I feel and let my clothes do the talking!! Less than a week, no clue how much I actually have lost kg or measurement wise, but I am fitting into my clothes much better already!!
