Weight loss for the vertically challenged
I am 5' 1" and trying to loose about 10 pounds. For 6 weeks now, I have been holding steady. I do a spin bike, snowshoe, lift, do intense yoga and hike. I can't figure out how to budge the scale. I eat about 1200 calories a day which should be plenty for my height. Any other short women out there have any tips? I feel that…

Complete the following sentence
I am getting ready to work out and realized I left my shorts upstairs (I work out in my basement). So I whine to myself about how what a pair it will be to walk upstairs and get my shorts. Which is ridiculous. So, I was wondering how others participate in self-sabotage. Complete the sentence: I'm to lazy to: take 5 seconds…

Small success
I understand my goal was tiny compared to many people struggling with large amounts of weight to loose. But I made part 1 of my goal (it took 8 long months)! Goal 1: Reduce my body fat to 18% by lifting heavier weights and working out with more intensity. I just had my body fat measured with the water method and calipers…

Maximum heart rate
My work was offering heart stress tests so I tried it. Fascinating! I had always thought that maximum heart rate was based on that formula (208- age etc). So I thought I should not go over my 170 max as per the formula instructions. But as I was chugging away on the treadmill comfortably at a HR of 165, the person that was…

How to burn more calories
Today I did 45 minutes interval training on my bike. I rode as hard as I could, pushed a big gear for 2minutes then 'rested' with fast RPM for 2 minutes in a light gear. According to MFP calorie charts, I burned 315 measly calories! Seriously, a drop in the bucket. I probably ate at least 600 for dinner alone. How can I…

Spot reduction accidentally
Over the last few months, I have lost about 10 pounds. Apparently all off my butt. My hips went from 35.5 to 34 and everything else went down 1/2 inch. EXCEPT my waist, which despite looking and feeling way smaller, it the same size! Anyone else have this phenomena? I can pull my pants off over my hips but my belt has not…

Everything is looking up
Thank you all for the support during my brief bout of grief-induced anorexia. I have been able to restart my digestive system by eating slowly, eating yogurt, rice, and soup, and then slowly adding more solid food. For the past three days, I have managed to increase my calories to not only over 1200, but way over the…

Can't eat
I have had a whopper of a year. Got a job, got laid off along with 450 other friends three months later. Mom broker her hip and I cared for her and my Dad who has Alzheimers for 2 months. Started new job. Mom died. Now caring for Dad again 3-4 days a week plus working full time and trying (failing) to care for my family.…

Arrrgggghh!
I Started the 30 day shred mid-April. I added to it 6 week abs workout plus 35-40 min of cardio 5-6 days a week. That is 1.25-2.0 hours of exercise a day. I have cut down my sugar and carbs, increased my protein and been working hard to eat enough calories. At the beginning of this week I was happy to have lost 4 pounds.…

What to do when you are sore
I have been working out really hard for a week. I am really sore. I have been trying to ignore it and work through the soreness or work other body parts. The only result is that now, instead of a couple parts achings, they all are sore. Do you work through the soreness or rest? If rest, what counts as rest?

A question on carbs
I am trying to increase the percentage of protein and decrease the percentage of carbs in my diet. I am also working on increasing my fruits and veggies. I have been eating a ton of fruit and veggies and almost no bread, cereal, crackers, pasta, etc. yet my food diary still says I am at 50% or more carbs. How do I eat to…

Sale accuracy
Last week I weighed myself at home on my cheapo scale: 110 Then dried the scale at work (doctors office digital scale): 113.4 Then, later in the day, was weighed by the nurse on another scale that also calculates fat%: 116.4 So in one day, i went from 110 to 116! Today I tried the scale at work over a period of 10 minutes:…

there is a reason Michael Phelps eats 10000 a day
I swim for exercise. Lately I have been swimming allot. About 3500 a day (allot for me, not so much for Mr. Phelps). Last week I decreased my calories to try to move the needle on my weight a bit. What I moved was my ability (or lack thereof) to swim. I bonked, two consecutive workouts. The moral of the story is: if you…

weight gain
I am pissed. :grumble: Could someone please explain to me how I now weight 115 pounds? How is that possible? Last week I weighed 110. What is the point of counting calories, sticking to the plan and exercising if I gain weight? 5 pounds! That is almost a 5% weight gain on less calories and more exercise. What the heck?

Input on food log
I am looking to get toned, lose body fat, gain strength and endurance. I am only looking to lose 5-10 pounds and keep it off. I have spent most of my life at 105-110, but lately it is hard to keep my weight there and I feel very jiggly. I am currently doing resistance Pilates at home and swim with a masters team. I ski on…

Fitness ball goal
Today I was at a local gym (It was free day so they let the riff-raff, e.g me, in) and was bored out of my skull on the elliptical machine when a very fine young man stood up on his balance ball and did his arm exercises - with hand weights! Stood on top of the ball! I now have a goal worth working out for. And no…

1200 calories seems like allot
Ok, you may think I am crazy, but since starting the plan a week ago, I have never been able to eat 1200 calories. I eat breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. I feel fine, not hungry at all. 1200 calories seems like too much to me. I am only 5'2", started at 117, trying to get to 100 lbs. I have always been small, and I have…
