What do your meals look like (show me pictures)....
Since the other thread got locked, I'm starting a new one.

So there's this guy at the gym...
this guy is a big muscle guy who is always in the weights section when I go. When I first started venturing into the 'guys' side of the gym, he'd always silently move over to go give me space on the squat rack. At first I thought he was thinking ... "I'll just get out of her way because she's going to drop something" ...…

Pins and needles in my fingers when lifting heavy...
Sometimes when I'm lifting I get pins and needs in my fingers, mostly in my little finger/ring finger on both hands. I noticed it yesterday when I was doing deadlifts and also earlier in the week when doing bicep curls and arm raisers? (Macraes? not sure of the name of them?). Am I holding the weights too tight? Pinching…

PCOS-ers who've lost weight
Did it have a positive effect on your symptoms? And by that I mean, did your cycles become more regular, or did the weird hair growth/loss become less, or did it have a positive impact on your fertility?

Fat girl dead-lifting (competition report!)
A year ago I posted a thread called Fat girl dead-lifting, about hitting a PB of a 90kg dead-lift and how it reminded me of just how far I've come. Yesterday, after much pushing by some of MFP friends, I competed in my first Powerlifting Competition. It was a 'Push/Pull' so only bench (push) and dead-lifts (pull). We…

Lift like a (fat) girl
Over the weekend I competed in a Novice Powerlifting competition. This was my third comp. I went in injured (I'm having knee surgery in 5wks or so). A couple of MFP friends bullied me into my first comp. Before it I came up with a bunch of excuses. "I've got so much weight left to lose" "I don't want to wear a onesie!"…

Fat girl dead-lifting
Last-night I asked my trainer to take a few photos of me dead-lifting, he took some awesome photos, but it also reminded me of how far I've come, and some of the challenges I faced. I love this photo because I look strong. Also because I'm lifting 90kg/198lbs, but there isn't any strain on my face, it looks easy. Now…

Potato Salad!
My Sister in Law has started 'the 45 Day Salad Diet' and is allowed to eat as much salad as she wants every day. She's started making exotic salads like German Potato Salad and says they are part of the plan! She's losing so much weight and German Potato Salad looks delicious, but she won't give me the recipe unless I do…

Fat Girl Squatting.
As a follow-on from my Fat Girl Dead-lifting post... (Just for fun). (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/824518-fat-girl-dead-lifting?hl=fat+girl+deadlifting) At the end of our session last night, I asked my trainer to take some photos of me squatting, and I made a animated gif out of them. In these images I'm…

Davena's 'waaaa I'm not losing weight' thread.
Beans told me to post this. Point any complaints to her. *nod* My starting weight was 125.2kg on the 31st of March, 2011. Between March and December, 2011 I lost exactly 20kg. During this time I was eating between 1200 and 1500 cals (plus my exercise cals). In December, 2011 I went on holiday for three weeks. Taking a diet…

Spiked Greek Yogurt.
I adapted this from a recipe from a NZ cook called Annabel Langbein. Her version has 1/2 cup of mayo in it. 1 cup of Greek Yogurt - I just used a small (170gm) tub of Chobani. Grated zest and juice of a lime 1 tbsp fish sauce 1 tsp brown sugar (or palm sugar if you have it, grated) 1 clove garlic, crushed 2 tsp grated…

Davena's Noodle Salad (easy!)
You need (for the salad base) (Pre-soaked)Thai rice noodles (cold or warm) 1 Tablespoon hoi-sin sauce 2 teaspoons of fish sauce 2 teaspoons sesame oil. Mix together in a bowl, then I just add whatever I have in the fridge. I used: fresh mint leaves, cherry tomatoes, capsicum, spinach, spring onions and a sprinkle of…

Davena's "I can't run that FAR" log
I can't run, pretty much at all. I had knee surgery in Feb to remove two tears in the cartlidge under my knee cap. I have Chondromalacia patellae, which means the cartlidge under my knee cap is soft and tears easily. After surgery I was told I'd have 85 - 95% function. Lifting heavy has helped strengthened the muscles…

Goal Achieved! 100kg Squats.
When I started lifting heavy (in April) I wrote down some goals. One of them was to squat 100kg. I picked 100kg because it didn't seem attainable at the time, after all I was 6wks out of knee surgery. Tonight my trainer loaded the bar to 97.5kg which would have been a new PB. He said 4, which I did. He said "Well that…

Sometimes you don't want to do ...
...what your trainer wants to do. So my trainer wanted to do some sort of high rep, low weight circuit. I wanted to hit a 90kg deadlift. We kind of compromised. I did get this though *sad face*

WorkHealth check. NSV?
I just had my WorkSafe WorkHealth Check. The good: Cholesterol = 4.1 (5.5 or less is normal) 'Good' Cholesterol = 1.2 (1.0 or more is normal) Blood glucose (unfasted) = 5.1 (less than 6.5 is normal) The average: Blood Pressure = 142/84 which puts me in the med/high range. However, this is unmediated, and last year I was…

I think my stand in trainer didn't beleive me...

NSV - Family Photo.
This weekend we had a family photo taken, and I think it's the first time that I've ever seen a photo of myself and thought that I look 'normal sized'. I recognise that I still want to lose another 30kg's or so, but for me, this is the first time in a long time that I haven't thought I was 'huge' in a photo. Here is a…

Lifters show me your callouses!
My trainer said that I can't call myself a lifter until I have some callouses. Today I asked him if I'm in the club yet, he's still not sure... Show me yours!

This photo is from a poster that hangs in the gym I go to: It always makes me laugh because the guy looks really ashamed.

Light weights on my "rest day".
I skipped a gym day because I went to a concert this week. I usually lift heavy, but as today is meant to be a rest day I'm thinking of doing my usual routine but with lighter weights (I'm thinking about the bar with no weights, so 20kg/44lbs) with more reps and focusing on form. Would this make it more of a cardio…

I'm no longer morbidly obese!!
I'm just the regular kind of obese! Huzzah! I had to get a physical for my health insurance and my Dr confirmed my BMI is now 39.6. My starting BMI was 48.9. Time to set a new mini goal. :)

apologies to people who drop weights at the gym!
I was working out with my PT at the gym today and he was pushing me to deadlift more. I was at 55kg and gripped the bar wrong, (hook grip rather than mixed grip) and after 5 lifts my grip was slipping. I said to my trainer that my grip was slipping and he said "drop it" just as I lost grip totally and the bar crashed to…

Setting goals with a PT.
I've just switched to a new Personal Trainer, and was going over my goals. They are currently: Goals: Weight loss of 59.2kg (the weight of my son when I started) To be able to do at least 3 pull-ups To be able to do 20 (full) Push-ups in a row To climb a climbing wall with my son (weight limit is 100kg) To be able to squat…

Personal Trainer advice.
I've been working on weightloss for the past year. Over this year, I've had three different Personal Trainers. The first two trainers just suddenly left the gym and I didnt know anything about it until I turned up to a training session and my PT wasn't there. I've been seeing my most recent trainer for about 7mths. 2mths…
