My trainer said that I can't call myself a lifter until I have some callouses.

Today I asked him if I'm in the club yet, he's still not sure...

My trainer pretty much scoffed when I showed him my hands this morning :)

A combination of lifting and the rowing machine has left me with well established callouses. I am proud of them, they are badges of honour

I have many callouses on both my hands. I personally love it as it shows I'm working hard.

For some reason, I only get a callous on one spot - beneath my left ring finger where my wedding band is. Weird.

Boo I wore gloves this week for deadlifts. Last week my hand was bleeding!

I'm having grip issues with my deadlifts, my trainer has suggested trying wraps, but I'm worried that it will mean my grip won't improve when I'm not using them.

I had to use gloves to pull 405 but after I did my 5 sets of 1 I dropped back down to 5 sets of 315x5 without to keep up my grip.

Have you been using mixed grip? One over one under? If you do get straps, they are a great way to get past what your hands won't let you get up but just don't forget the lighter reps to build that grip too :)

I do use a mixed grip, it's only my left hand that's causing me issues. At 70kg I'm fine, but today I moved up to 75kg and I couldn't do more that 3 before my left hand gave way, I tried with my left hand both under and over, but it was the same either way.

I wear gloves, my hands are pretty, but still get hard spots. And I take my wedding rings off because I don't want to mess up the shank:)
  • I have a couple but you can't really see them cause I wear lifting gloves when I train so mine don't get that bad at all.
