Dawn Phenomenon
So, has anyone had to deal with this? Is there anything you've found that helps? Here is my scenario from yesterday (but is similar every day, just with higher numbers yesterday). I woke up yesterday with a high number 339. I had an Atkins shake for breakfast and by lunch my number was down to 249. I had another shake for…

Should logging records count if you don't log meals?
I see people who have logged in for 300+ days, but if I look at the diary, it's empty, for at least 2 weeks. Should this really be a thing to be proud of? I think the system should account for that if you don't log at least 1 meal or exercise, it doesn't count. I also think you should have 48 hours to fill in days.…

Type II Diabetic getting sick
I am the classic Syndrome X Type II diabetic. I am currently on full doses of Metformin, Glyburide and Onglyza. On days when I do especially well with my carbs, I get the symptoms of Hypoglycemia, even though when I test my levels, I am 80-100 which is considered normal for most people. I have to eat to not feel sick, but…

Water lost during exercise
So I saw a story on BBC (Boom goes the Theory or something like that), that showed during strenuous exercise only a few ounces were lost through sweat. I feel like I sweat WAY more than that, and yesterday I weighed before and after a run (30 min) and was 2lbs less. Thinking I needed to re-hydrate that much. Is this…

Do I have an eating disorder?
I'm clearly not anorexic or bulimic. I do however think I might have a problem with food. I'm the classic Syndrome X (High Blood Pressure, Diabetic, High Cholesterol). I exercise at least 45minutes, 3 times a week. I know I need to lose weight. I know it is shortening my life. Yet I find myself in front of the pantry or…

OK, so my fitness plan has me rowing for 2000m. I don't have a machine that shows distance, just a normal weight machine for that muscle activity. How long would it take a "noob" to "row" 2k? 20 minutes?

Hal Higdon Half Marathon Group
I started the HHHM this week and had so much success with the C25K groups here and having like minded people to talk to, I thought I would see if there are people who want to do this with me? If there is already a group going not to far in, I can join that one! Add me as a friend and just put HHHM in the message!

HRM suggestion
I need an inexpensive HRM that can also provide pace (either by gps or footpod). I can use my iphone for pace, but it's hard to see when strapped to my arm. I tend to start off to fast on my runs, and fall off alot.

Strength Training for runners, advice needed.
Ok, hoping to catch a real PT or someone who has had the same questions. I've added strength training to my weekly workout of running. I run MWF 3 miles x 3 times a week. I do weights Tue/Thur. I take Sat/Sun as rest days. I hit all the muscles groups at a weight where when I do 3 sets of 10, I can barely finish the last…

Running Etiquette
So I know it's polite to "on the left" as you pass someone. I almost always wear headphones but with the music at a low volume so I can hear. Is there a common "signal" the person being passed can use to show that they heard the passing runner?

Bought a new belt when I first started my weight loss journey. I couldn't wear it before and it was a reward for getting down to that size. Could wear it on the first hole. Today, I had to drill a new hole in it! My pants were falling down!

BMI 35+ and running 5K
I'm looking for men or women that have a 35+ BMI and are currently or attempting to run 5K. I've just finished the c25k program and can now do a 5k in 43:30. I finished my only timed race last in my age class. I also finished very low in the "Clydesdale" class, which is over 200lbs. As I am over 300lbs, that is a pretty…

Have you ever told yourself....
When I first made my decision to be healthy, I looked at BMI and what was considered "healthy weight'. I told myself, "There is no way I could be that thin, I would be skin and bones." "I'm big boned/have a large frame and it's just not gonna happen." My parents were tall and large. I thought it was genetics. MFP has…

A Proper Introduction
Started July, 25 2011 Ok, so I thought I would post a little bit about why I'm on MFP! In March of 2010 the company I worked for had a "Biggest Loser" competition, both for individuals and teams. I competed (I'm highly motivated by cash prizes). I lost 63lbs, winning the individual prize and helping my team win the team…
