Neurapathy Sufferers...
My biggest clue prior to my diagnosis was this irritating tingling, numbness and pain in my feet. I was diagnosed on April 4, 2013...My sugars are pretty much under control....my A1C in June was 6.8. My question is this....will the tingling, numbness and pain EVER go away? I HATE my feet!!!

Blood Glucose Conversion US vs UK/Canadian Values
U.S. value = UK / Canadian value times 18 (mmol/L x 18 = mg/dl). U.K./Canadian value = U.S. value divided by 18 (mg/dl / 18 = mmol/L). Whats the difference between mmol/L and mg/dL? Both sets of units are used to measure blood sugar levels and both give a measurement of the concentration of glucose in the blood, albeit in…

Chromium
Does anyone take a Chromium supplement? From the bottle - Chromium is the central atom in the "glucose tolerance factor" (GTF) GTF works with Insulin to transport glucose from the blood into body cells, regulating blood sugar levels" Ok, so I read somewhere, that unless you are diagnosed as low in Chromium you shouldnt…

BS Question
I just checked my BS because I'm not feeling well, very tired and sluggish. I anticipated that my sugar may have been high even though I've eaten really well today. To my surprise it was lower than normal at 85. I know this is technically in the good range and a number I would like to keep but is it possible to feel bad…

hbA1C & average daily blood glucose Mapping
How does the hbA1c test result compare to the results you get from a blood glucose test monitor. For example what does an hbA1c result of 6% mean in terms of a daily average blood glucose test result?? Is there a way of performing this calcuation?

I need a bathroom NOW!
Sooooo been treating this Type 2 very well since Mid May. Losing weight, eating right, blood sugars nice & low most of the time. Even had my metformin prescription cut in half. BUT now I'm peeing all the time! I race home the last 1/4 mile during my walks and barely make it to the potty. Tonight I had to stop after only 24…

Broken Meter?
Hi all, Could my meter just be broken or unreliable? I got unusually high readings here and there this weekend - I chalked it up to some quinoa and a cookie. Today I felt very hypoglycemic, so I tested and it said 72. I sat down and ate 6 grapes. Ten minutes later it read 125! So I immediately put in another strip, tested…

New to the group
Hi everyone, My name is Emily and I am a Type 2 diabetic. I was diagnosed in October of 2010, and I am in need of encouragement, education, and some advice. It may have been 3 years since I've had it, but I'm still kind of wet behind the ears. I went through 2 years of denial that I had diabetes, and finally recently I…

Possible cure - Has anyone seen this?
Friend of mine posted this video today, warning that it's graphic showing surgery and blood. But it does seem pretty hopeful that there could be a cure on the horizon in our lifetimes. http://www.upworthy.com/meet-a-girl-whos-too-young-to-have-a-type-especially-this-kind?g=2&c=ufb1

Do some foods send your BS into orbit?
My nutritionist is still working on getting my meds dialed-in and put me on 2-850 and 1-500 metformin daily...this was just a few days ago. I got the prescription filled and started the new dosage yesterday. I woke up this morning to my BS at an astronomical level of 294. If I don't wake up at 4:am and eat something, my BS…

New guy.
Hi. I just posted a few things because mostly, I simply can't shut up if I think something I have to say might actually help someone. :-) I was diagnosed about five years ago, Type II. Did pretty good with it for a while and learned a LOT by reading similar forums. One of the things that helped me the most was logging…

Taurine
Has anyone used Taurine as a dietary supplement? From what I understand it may help control blood glucose and can act as an anti-inflammatory. Thought I would ask before experimenting on myself again. My last experiment, Magnesium, didn't work out well.

diabetic sweets, would love some help
I have a diabetic friend with a sweet tooth and would appreciate if anyone could provide me with links to obtaining sweets that are safe for diabetics as I do not see this person curbing their intake but I would like to provide healthier alternatives. We are in Australia and either have little options and the ones we have…

BG finally dropping...
I'm almost 2-months into this since diagnosis. I've learned a lot. Testing frequently and logging what goes into my face have been helpful tools, especially in the last four days. I'm on Metformin/850mg 2x per day, but my levels were still spikey and haven't even close to healthy levels. Four days ago, I started taking a…

have you decreased your Metformin dose?...c'mere please =)
I started out at 750 mg of extended release at around 150#'s. Never had much in the way of intestinal distress, and it was early in my Dx. I ended up increasing to double the dose @ 1500 mg daily, I didn't have any problems to speak of until I hit around the 18# loss mark. That's when I started to wonder what new fresh…

oral medications may be better than insulin for DM II
Long-term followup from a large cohort study confirms that in type 2 diabetes, a glycemic control strategy with insulin sensitizing reduces the incidence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, while also improving cardiovascular outcomes. Among type 2 diabetes patients followed for up to 4 years, a glycemic control regimen…
