Help I'm on a downward spiral
I've slowly been declining but this last week I've just been eating everything. It's awful...maid rites, fried cheese, pizza, 1000 calories here and there. I can't stop. I've been in a horrible mood and all i want is food. Crying as I type this.

What do you do when you're tired but can't sleep?
I often eat when I feel tired, but can't sleep. Like I cannot sleep during the day to have a good night's sleep, not even 5 minutes, or I have something important that needs to be done. I don't drink coffee, because it makes me anxious, and resolve to sugar instead, unfortunately... Do you have any tips?

Eating to "Stay in Control"
I found that I eat when I feel out of control. If things don't go the way I want them to or my day is constantly changing. It's like food is how I get the feeling back of being in control. Does anyone else feel this way? Obviously I need to let go of my need to control! Can anyone relate and offer tips on how to deal???

Breaking out of the funk
Every once in a while I get in a funk where I just want to eat all the bad stuff nonstop. Nothing satisfies. Then I realize I'm trying to make myself happy at the time, or I'm bored. If only I could go there first. The only way out is to break the cycle, then I deal with whatever is bringing me down.

Extremes
Hi, I'm fairly new here. I tend to emotionally eat. Usually out of boredom. If I'm at home, I don't know what else to do (college student in my own place for the first summer). My problem is that after I had surgery last year I overate SO much that I gained over 20 lbs in a year. Now that I'm eating healthy, I am beginning…

I'm planning on emotional eating today.
I can't do it right now. But the confluence of a sale and a very annoying morning has me planning on an ice cream cone this evening. We had court today, a follow-up hearing about our son. It took 5 minutes. But it took 2 hours of waiting to get into the courtroom. I normally start work at 9:30. Court was at 10:30, so I…

book recommendations about emotional eating
Anyone read Josie Spinardi's book "How To Have Your Cake & Skinny Jeans too"? She talks about how restrictive and popular diets actually cause yo yo weight loss and gain. These diets destroy our body's natural hunger pangs and appetite, throwing it into chaos so we are no longer able to tune in, leading to emotional eating…

Finding success with hypnosis for emotional eating
This is my first post here, so apologies if this has come up already: I wanted to share some success I've been having with David McGraw's Ultimate Weigh Loss Hypnosis video from youtube. The idea is that you listen to it for 30 days straight and can expect to see weight loss. I've been listening before I go to sleep for 21…

Avoiding Trigger Foods Versus Moderation
Is it better to avoid trigger foods or just try to consume them in moderation. I realize it depends on the person, but I am really struggling with this issue. I successfully avoided my trigger foods for a couple months but have gone pretty off track lately. Would it be better just to try hard to cultivate self-control…

New. Found THE support group I needed.
I eat first and then try to retrofit an emotion to justify. Eating after 7pm through ... Well sometimes 9 and at times 2am - the battle rages. Spirit over flesh. Flesh (tongue, munchie sounds win over the determination most of the times. That's where your support will come in handy. Looking fwd to support - give and take!!!

Night shift
When I wake up too early during the morning after a night shift I feel utterly crap and groggy and NEED sugar. Is this emotional eating because I do fu*king hate being tired? Is the sugar craving a bad sign? Anyone else work shifts and have similar cravings? I usually binge for ten minutes then regret it and go back to bed…

New to the group, but not MFP.
I have been an emotional eater since I can remember. I eat for every emotion, not just stress, or boredom. I have been trying very hard to find other outlets for my emotions. Sometimes it works, not always though. I have a lot of weight to lose. But thinking of it in smaller increments helps. Thanks for letting me join…
