Restart C25K
I am starting C25K again today after completing it in June 2012. I had a different user name then but deactivated out of frustration when I hurt my foot playing basketball. Ready to get back at it. Gained a little weight back but not quite all of it. Could use new friends and support.

Virtual Christmas 3K or 5K!
Hey everyone! In the spirit of all the Virtual races and actual races that are out there for this Christmas season, I thought it would be fun to do a Virtual fun run of our own. Our run is going to be an Ugly Sweater run! The distance is of your choice: 3K (1.8 miles) or 5K (3.1). And will take place on December 21st and…

great on grass, pain on pavement
I have been running now for about 3 months, 3 times per week, increasing from 45 seconds (I kid you not!) to 17 mins. last week. Up until this past week, I have been jogging in a park on the grass and have felt NO PAIN. Not that it was easy but nothing hurt. Lots of snow this past week and have had to jog on pavement. Have…

Hello All! New Runners! :)
Hello everyone! I'm brand new to fitness and not eating complete crap. I completed W1D1 yesterday, and felt awesome! If anyone wants to send me a friend request, I'd love to have some more runners on my friends list for motivation and to help compare notes. Have a great day and happy running!

Bad Run?? How do you stick to the program?
Hello All! New runner here. Just completed my W2 D3 run and boy was it a bad run. Is it too early to feel this way? I was mentally and physically out of it today. Amazing how strong and important the mind can be for the body huh. Had an over all bad day and just felt out of place and down. I figured my run tonite would…

Half Marathon in a year?
Backstory: I did C25K back in August-October 2011 after my older son was born. Shortly thereafter I got into Spinning and would Spin 3-4 days/week and run 1-2 days/week. I could run a 9.5-10 minute mile for 3-5 miles. My runs were pretty much ruled by time constraints and boredom, meaning if I could mentally handle running…

New to this.
I recently came across C25K on MFP and, admittedly, was a little intimidated because I thought this was a group for running 25k. But I see now that it isn't and I recently checked out the C25K website. It actually looks fun! It's been ten years since I ran and I really don't remember everything I was taught back then so I…

How do I find the motivation to start?
I think about exercise and I just want to cry. I just feel so unmotivated and unenthusiastic about it. Having a 2 month old baby and my boyfriend who works a lot I'd have to get up while they are both sleeping and I'll want to be in bed too! Then the idea that I'm going to be tired out all day and still have to take care…

How do I get started and what the heck am I thinking!
Okay so I am embarking on the c25k program - downloaded the "Chubby Jones" podcasts and with the cooler weather here in South Florida and ready to start however I keep asking myself - am I nuts?! I hate running, hate being outside and getting hot and sweaty and attacked by bugs, have to deal with a DD chest, a shoulder…

Starting tomorrow
I average going to Planet Fitness 4 to 5 times per week. I alternate walking one day and the 30 minute circuit the next. Today is circuit day so I will start C25K tomorrow. Funny how things work out Monday of this week I actually alternated jogging and walking for 30 minutes, I jogged a total of 11. Today quite by accident…

Run Double app
I used the Run Double app to complete C25K. Now I use it to track my runs. I've also got a cheaper HRM (the watch kind that you touch to get a reading). Both the app & the HRM are set with my current weight, age etc. But the HRM is showing a higher calorie burn than the app (200 cal today). Does that sound normal??? I've…

Running friends wanted
Hi all, I am on week 7 of C25K and planning on doing the Bridge to 10k program after this. I have some lovely friends on MFP but would love some more who are doing C25K and want to keep running once they've finished the first 8 weeks. My confession is that I don't post much on people's diary entries but I love having…

Hip Flexor help
Last night, I did week 8 day 2 after having six days off over the holiday. After the first mile I could barely lift my legs cause my hip flexors were hurting so bad. I labored to the finish. What did I do wrong and is there a stretch I can do to help this? They are still very sore today.

Restarting C25K?
I've been trying to be a runner for the past 1 1/2 years. When I say try, I really mean try. Last winter I had a stress fracture that I truly believe came from over training. I was running on a treadmill every day. Then this past summer probably in about August, I tried to do a couch to 5 K program and had a flaring…

Complete newbie to running
Hi :-) On sunday I ran 1 mile for the first time ever. Well... jogged!! It took me 16 minutes. I know this is very slow but everyone has to start somewhere, right? I am going to continue doing this route once or twice a week and after Xmas, I plan on doing the couch to 5k challenge. Feel free to join in :-) Stacie

Running my first 5k tomorrow!
Tomorrow I get to accomplish something that I have always wanted to do. I've trained for the past two months and now I get to lace up my shoes and run my first 5k race! It's a fundraiser, and I have to say I'm probably equally excited that I have raised over $1,300 for Safe Passage, which is an organization in…

Calf pain...
So... I've got a pain in the calf!! It is not excruciating, but usually starts about 5 minutes into my run, persists throughout, and stays sore for the rest of the evening. It's always in the same spot- low, like at the bottom of the muscle, but not at the ankle. I don't think it's torn, or anything like that, but it feels…

I graduated... now on to the 10K
Not quite in the time of 30 minutes but I ran the 5k in 37 minutes. I am now starting week 9 on the 10K trainer! I hope to increase in speed and endurance!

Holiday Gift Guide for Runners
So...don't really know what to ask Santa for Christmas? You might not know it, but Santa Claus runs during his time off. He is actually a skinny man, but he flies to the most coldest parts of the world and his jacket makes him look so huge. No? Huh...well sounded good to me. Anyway... Runner's tend to be a loyal…

Anyone on their Week 2/3 of C25K?
I'm looking for more friends to encourage and motivate as I go on this journey from "never having run in my life" to "I can run a 5k!" ... I'm on W2D3 (not run yet) and I really want to meet others! Feel free to add me via the little link on the side, or comment here and I'll add you instead ^_^

First 5k recap
I completed c25k about 6 weeks ago, but I wasn't confident enough in my running to sign up for a race yet. I finally ran in my town's turkey trot yesterday. IT WAS SO FUN! Even with the 20 degree weather I had a blast. I was a little bummed that I had no friends to run with, but as we were lining up some girls were joking…

Completed my first 5k!!
I did it! I ran/walked my first 5k. It was my first time running outside and only my second time running a mile straight. I ran the first 2 miles and ran/walk the last part. I finished at 39:17. I am really proud and hope to run the entire thing next time!

Graduating on Sunday with an icy-cold 5K
I'm super excited and nervous to be completing the C25K program on Sunday with my first 5k. I never really thought that running on pavement would be possible because my back would hurt so badly every time I tried in the past. But a bad headspace after a break-up and excess weight challenged me to find something positive to…

Turkey trot-My first official 5K
I am excited and scared, but I have registered to run my first 5K this thanksgiving morning! I finished C25K a couple months ago, and have been running for at least 6 months. I hope to clock at less than 40 minutes, which I know is slow, but is fast for me. 6 months ago, I could not run a mile, now I can run nearly five…

Cold Weather Running
Hi I'm about to start Week 2 on C25k and would like any tips on running in cold weather as the temperature drops. How do you handle the cold winter? I bought some moisture wicking athletic tops I can layer on top of one another, I also wear a hat & thin gloves but still feel strange running in 30 degrees at 7pm at night. I…

Week 5, Day 3... I did it!
"I only run when chasing my 2-year-old and 4-year-old" has been my standard phrase, along with, "Oh, I don't run. I get tired driving those distances..." Now, I'm going to have to change my standard responses. Because I ran tonight. I can actually do this. I can't claim "runner" yet, but I just finished the dreaded (for…
