pregnitude compared to metformin
Treating Insulin Resistance Women with PCOS who have insulin resistance are often prescribed metformin, which is an insulin-sensitizing agent. "Metformin is a prescription drug with a significant side-effect profile," says Dr. Roseff, , who is also a world-renowned specialist in PCOS. "Its adverse effects mainly include…

Regular Period!!!!
I'm so freaking stoked right now. I've been on birth control off and on since I was 14. This was because I've never EVER had a regular period. It was always 4-6 months between. I've always been a heavy girl, though. I went off of birth control early last month since I didn't want to have my monthly visitor while I was…

He did a pelvic ultrasound and discovered that both of my ovaries were swollen with cysts. He said it was called polycystic ovaries but didn't…

Heavy lifting and PCOS
The recent thread body shaming women who lift heavy had me concerned and a little sad, especially because of the OP implying that it's especially bad for women with PCOS because we will "bulk up" easier. This is not true,at all. This is harmful misinformation that I've seen not just here, but all over the internet. Even…

Attention cysters with a normal BMI
So as we all know, a lot of the 'solutions' for PCOS seems to be relevant to those who are overweight. Basically, hormone imbalances seem to sort themselves out, once a sufferer is within a healthy BMI. But there are some, like me, who have always been within a healthy BMI, but still seem to struggle with it. I am 5"5 and…

Low Carb/Low GI Eating - Veggies
I have been working on eating low GI/low Carb for a while now. There are so many different sets of rules for both out there. Some say you should count the carbs that veggies bring. Others say you should subtract veggie carbs but count fruit and still others say that you should subtract both to get a true carb count. Others…

hair LOSS
Hi, all- I've successfully been losing weight with MFP calorie deficit tracking, exercising, going gluten-free, and really working at hitting my macro daily goals (read: more protein, fewer carbs). Almost all of the PCOS symptoms I suffer from have subsided a great deal. In particular, my weight (46 lbs down from my…

Need to vent
Sorry, I can't really do this on Facebook or on my status on MFP, I just need to vent somewhere. Before my PCOS, I had awesome hair - I'm sure that's the case for most of you who have suffered from hairloss. In the space of just over a year, I've lost what I would say is about 40% of my hair, and I'm devastated by it. I…

Dr. mentioned PCOS but didn't seem concerned???
So I went to the Dr. yesterday for a sports physical for my fitness bootcamp. However, I thought I had self diagnosed myself with exercise induced amenorrhea (having come from a low calorie diet and intense exercise) but he mentioned PCOS and long story short...that was pretty much the end of the visit. I have had one…

Endometrial Hyperplasia
Has anyone gotten to this stage in their PCOS? I had a uterine biopsy last week that showed hyperplasia, so now she wants to do a D&C. I bled for over 50 days until this Saturday when it finally stopped on its own. Worried about this procedure and looking for someone who's gone through this.

BCP Decision...
My endocrinologist wants me to stop taking Ocella (Generic Yasmin) and get an IUD and start taking Metformin. (he won't give me metformin if i'm on birth control.. i'm not sure why) I'm going to make an appointment soon, but I'm a little worried about the IUD thing. Anyone have success with it with their PCOS?

Hi, I'm new to the Boards - introducing myself :)
Hello, I'm a PCOS lady with a mission! After years of battling the wrong way, a month ago I finally joined the gym. I was doing great until today & I realized I needed to reach out further & find support with others that know this battle all too well. My basics: I was a 20 yr old 5'4", 105 lb active young lady when I woke…
