Why High Fat?
I've been trying to reconcile a disconnect I have with Paleo eating. Most paleo eaters seem to also believe that their diet should be heavy fat. Where did this come from? If you've ever eaten wild game, which is what would have been available to our ancestors, you'll know that it is very lean meat. It took domestication…

ketosis help
Ok, I have decided to slowly attempt the plunge into ketosis. I mean, slowly as I am currently at 50-75 (sometimes a little more) carbs per day. I am not ready yet but am trying to be concious and reduce my carb intake over a period of time. My husband, who is surprisingly in support of ketosis but not in support of my…

My first Whole30
I'm planning on staring the Whole30 Tues, following my keto macros & the whole30 outline. It's exciting yet kinda scary because I won't have those comfort foods to ease my difficulties. Dairy is going to be the toughest for me as I rely on it for a good portion of my fat. I know I will have the option of BP coffee/tea,…

Starting Paleo Monday & have a question or 2
How many ounces of meat/protein should I eat at each meal? I can still eat bacon while doing this (the real stuff & not this turkey stuff I've been settling for)? My trainer suggest eating at least something every 3 hours, but I've seen people say only eat when hungry...which do I do? I still plan on tracking my calories…

Eggs and othe cheaper proteins
Hi, I know this may sound stupid, but has anyone, does anyone eat large amounts of eggs to get their target protein for the day? Eggs for me are about the most budget friendly protein out there. But to get my target protein 100g daily I'd need to eat 15eggs a day. I've never done it so far, but seems really undesirable and…

New with IBS
I'm new to paleo- day 4 to be exact. So far, I'm loving it. I am sleeping better and my sinus infection is gone (I had it for about 4 days before starting). And I'm not ever as hungry, which is a good thing.. However, I am having problems with my IBS-C. Does anyone have experience with this? Does it get better? What can I…

Coconut Flour
After sticking to a primarily paleo diet for a few months now, I decided to throw down some cash on kitchen luxuries. Yesterday, thanks to amazon, I got my first package of coconut flour. Big plans to experiment tonight, but I thought I'd jump on here and ask if anyone has some advice to offer or favorite recipes to share.…

Question
Hi, it's me again, asking questions lol. How long after doing a whole30 or living Paleo did you see vast improvements in your health conditions if any? I have pretty bad acid reflux, joint pains, cavities & much more. I know living right should be enough motivation on it's own, but a root canal & crying over acid reflux is…

Totally Random
Have you ever met a Paleo person who smokes? Do you think it's ok ("Paleo") to smoke Cannabis & tobacco in their raw state? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Paleolithic people smoked anything. Maybe a few trippy mushrooms or Peyote buttons, but not for recreation/spiritual reasons? Thoughts?

Finally, a hot cocoa replacement!
I have always loved hot cocoa, but I would find most everything too sweet and/or full of junk, and I'd end up adding in instant coffee to cut the sweetness...even with making it myself. Stevia to me just makes it gross! Thanks to BabyPhit for suggesting the coconut sugar! =) Recipe... 1 tsp. Nutiva Organic EV Coconut Oil…

Help...need to eat more. Also, new friends!
Hi all, So I've just moved to a new town in a new state to start a new job. I'm getting back to Primal eating after, well...not being "off the bandwagon," exactly, but after a good few months of definitely more 60/40 than 90/10. I'm using MFP because I'm kind of geeky about this...I really like to keep good data and…

Hi I'm new here---wanna be friends?
Haha, I couldn't really come up with anything snappy to introduce myself with. My name is Penny and I'm new to Paleo. I've read some things about it, done some research about what to eat and what not to eat. Talked hubby into getting on board and we just kinda jumped in. That was last Saturday. Here it is almost an entire…

35 hour fast
So for no particular reason, I did a 35 hour fast yesterday. Last meal was 9:00 pm on Tues. Ate nothing yesterday and broke the fast this morning at 0800 with a banana. I was getting a bit loopy so I decided to end it. So that was 35 hours of nothing but water and coffee. I did a short 25 minute run/hill routine on the…

Fueling myself for running and lifting..help
I need to wrap my head about this new way of eating in terms of fueling my workouts properly. Before, on running days, I'd eat oatmeal or peanut butter whole grain toast for breakfast. Now, on running days any suggestions on what I should eat? Typically on lifting days I'd do eggs, bacon, toast pre workout with a protein…

Weird Smelling Pee
So, I'm wondering if this is fat-adapted related? The past few months my urine has smelled weird. Like asparagus pee, but without eating asparagus. I mean, I HAVE eaten asparagus, but not every day LMAO. Anyway, I'm just wondering if the strong odor has something to do with being paleo. My carbs are relatively high…

Not food related, but what are your thoughts on Vibrams??
So when I first started the gym, a few guys had on these SERIOUSLY ugly shoes. I've come to learn (a while ago) that they are Vibram FiveFingers these guys were wearing and I've heard Mark Sisson talk about the benefits of the shoes etc. I've also visited the website and looked at the products, but has anyone here actually…

Which is worse?
...eating after 9pm, or ending the day with 800 calories or less? Didn't have time for dinner tonight before rushing the kids off to their game. On my way home now and wondering if I should eat when I get there, or just call it a day.

What to do with brisket?
I bought a huge! (8.8#) brisket last time I went to the farm to get grass fed beef. I have it thawing in my fridge now to cook this weekend. This thing is big enough to have just about every meal this next week. I think I will cook half in the oven and half in the slow cooker. What are your favorite things to do with…

Anyone see this? Thoughts?
Stumbled across this today: http://paleomovement.com/alan-aragon-paleo-critic/ Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed in him. Alan Aragon researches nutrition for a living and is basically the top person for nutritional information. And yet....he's saying a lot of...well...crap. It probably doesn't help that pretty much his first…

Paleo-friendly Recipe Recovery tips?
In the past whenever I made something too spicy I would always attempt to recover the recipe and bring the spiciness back down to bearable levels by adding some sort of dairy-based product. Is there a paleo-compliant way of achieving this? Something you can add to the food which will help you recover the recipe from adding…
