Hunger Games book club
So, I'm hosting book club next Wednesday, and we read The Hunger Games. Our book club rule is that hostess provides the main dish, and everyone else brings the other stuff. We try to theme the food to the book. I actually just ordered rabbit loin from US Wellness Meats, and was thinking about making rabbit stew, but then…

Chameleon coconut
Has anyone else wondered how there are so many different coconut products, but all of them just say 100% coconut as their only ingredient? Coconut oil - kind of waxy cold or liquid hot Creamed coconut, which is like a bar of hard soap at room temp, gets softer when warm, but doesn't dissolve easy Canned coconut milk -…

paleo nsv
Well, in keeping with the mfp lingo... tonight I went to a seminar - scooped the salmon out of the wrap and ate it - then, during the lecture I found I was craving... kale chips!!! Weird - because I made them today and wasn't even sure I like them. Clearly, I've changed. What is/was your paleo moment?

Ready to make the leap, Looking for Paleo friends!
Hello! I've been interested in trying the paleo diet for the past 6 months, but I haven't been able to make the jump. I listen to the Paleo Solution podcast all the time, and I'm amazed by the stories I hear of people who have adopted this lifestyle. The final push that I needed to make the switch is coming from marathon…

I think I blew my whole 30 today :(
I was doing pretty good until today, I broke into a bag of trail mix. I know dried fruits are ok in moderation but I feel like I had too much. I guess I was really craving something sweet. Oh well, upward and onward!

Nutrient Dense High Calorie Foods
Almost 3 years ago we adopted a (mostly) Paleo/Primal eating style when we were having behavioral issues with one of our sons. At that time he was diagnosed with OCD, ADHD, and bipolar and was on a daily regimine of over 10 pills. I'm happy to say that today we are down to only one daily pill and mood swings and behavior…

Anyone doing Whole Life Challenge?
My CrossFit box is participating in an 8 week online "Whole Life Challenge" that starts Sept. 15 and I signed up. Anyone else doing this? From their "about" page: The Whole Life Challenge is an 8-week online social game designed for you to peer into every aspect of your world and create a 360-degree-view,…

Fiber
Do any of you that eat paleo/primal/low carb have fiber goals? In general, what is everyone's opinion on how much fiber to eat? Do you find that you need to supplement it (Benefiber, etc.) to meet your desired amount on this type of lifestyle? Thanks!!

white potatoes...
or rather, red pimpernels etc. It is my understanding that peanuts and other legumes are off the paleo list because they (like corn) have been manipulated into something we eat, rather than being a "natural" food? What about potatoes? Links to resources appreciated.

abalone
Need some feedback/opinions: I just ate some grilled abalone and when I tracked it there is some abalone that shows no sodium, and the raw abalone shows a fair amount of sodium. So which do you think it is? The abalone I ate was grilled with no sauce, nothing on it. I bought it at Costco and it was already cooked, with no…

Poor Clueless *kitten*
What's with all the threads today about people stuck at 1300 calories, or hell - 800 calories (!?!?) per day? That's one meal for me a lot of the time. HELL, I can make a 900 calorie salad without blinking! I know that we all have to find our own way of doing things, but I really wish I could just shake people and make…

Big Belly
I have received so much wonderful advice with questions I asked on this board so here I am again asking for help....my nsv is that I am down a pants size, and yes the scale is still at a stand still, but I don't care about that much anymore it's not about the scale. I have a belly issue, I have had it for the last 16 years…

why do the bulletproof coffee?
I saw someone suggest bulletproof - I had never heard of it so I started looking online for it. I can find tons of recipes, tons of chat boards like this explaining it but no major paleo websites discussing its benefits - just chat rooms. Can anyone push me in the right direction for some more info?

ketosis
I will try and start my ketosis, I think I need to stay under 50 carbs for that to happen, when does it happen, does it start right away? If I remember it right it should be no more then a week. Going to a Wedding Dinner tomorrow night so that should be a challenge but I think still doable.

almost cheated but got "sign"
Day 5 paleo... around 3 pm I went to get a cup of coffee at work. I didnt really feel like I needed it but its habit. My Butcher made me do it
There's this great little independent health market about a mile away, and lately I've been going there in the evenings to stock up on paleo/primal goodies while hubby gets the kiddos ready for bed. Each time, I get into a long discussion with the hot butcher who works there. Talking about grass-fed beef naturally leads to…

excited!
my husband keeps telling me he sees a huge difference in the progress i've made, but i can't see ANYTHING at all. i measured myself about a week and a half after going primal on 8.27 and then again this morning, i have lost an inch off both my waist and hips (but, i had already chugged a good amount of water, i'm going to…

Vitamins/supplements?
I'm not currently taking any vitamins or supplements. I feel like I should be, but I hate doing so as they're always gigantic. Anyway, since I'm always being told I should take a multi-vitamin, are there any specific ones you all recommend? Anything else I should think about taking? I have fish oil pills at home...they're…

wheat flu and headaches
Im new to paleo - day 3 today. I have had a MASSIVE headache for 2 days now and today have NO energy and just want to curl up - I feel so blah... How long does this normally last? Is there anything I can do to make it go faster? Im seriously reconsidering my timing. I have a half marathon this Saturday. Its my first half…

Wild king salmon filet
So I just splurged on a 1 lb large wild Alaskan salmon filet at the Fresh Market. Even "on sale", it was pricey!! What should I do with it? I need some inspiration! Give me your one favorite salmon recipe, please- preferably baked in the oven so I don't have to hover over the stovetop while it cooks. Thanks!

Mid day crash
I am three days into pure Paleo and I started crashing hard core around 1:00. Any ideas? I had class late last night and went to CrossFit this morning at 5:30 but I slept pretty good all night. I ate breakfast and lunch, maybe I need another snack in there somewhere? I'm just not hungry.

Tahini
I saw Tahini today while shopping for almond butter. It's sesame seed puree or something like that. Does anyone buy this? What do you do with it?

Story on labor day - CBS Wheat Belly.
While a bit of a short piece, I'm so glad to see exposure in mainstream media. I LOVE the title "Modern wheat a "perfect, chronic poison," doctor says" http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505269_162-57505149/modern-wheat-a-perfect-chronic-poison-doctor-says/?tag=stack My only objection to the story is, while wheat is bad, so is…

Kids school lunches
I have been on paleo for a week and am loving it. My children (aged 7, 7 and 6) have been doing the dinners with me, but apart from that they are still the same as before i.e. cereal for breakfast, Yoghurt and fruit for morning tea, and a sandwich and fruit for lunch. So not exactly unhealthy, but definitely not paleo. I…

An 'Apple' a day keeps the weight gain at bay.....
So, after almost 2 weeks of what seemed to be nothing more than good ol' self sabotage, I think I figured out why I started to veer off the Primal track. Reason number 1 I believe is stress, a few too many things going on all at once and I seem to be eating my stress with any carb and sugar item I can get my hands on. #2…
