new and a little lost...
Hi I'm new to the idea of eating more and just wanted to say thank you to everyone who made this site as I have never felt better in my entire life. I do have a question about increasing calories though. Background info: I'm female and 5 feet 8 inches 34 years old. I'm workin out 6 days a week cardio and weights. I weigh…

New Question Regarding Macros/Nutrition
I got some help here about a month ago working out my TDEE and understanding EM2WL and now have a new question. I worked my way up to maintenance, about 2000/2100 day with 5 days exercise and moderately active then dropped back down again to 1600/1700. As a reminder I'm 64, 5'7" and about 176 lbs and I've lost about 55 lbs…

Looking for participants!
Hi Guys, i am a university doing my final year project on predictors of excessive eating. At some point we have all experienced a time where we have over eaten if its because we are bored, stressed or deprived from sleep. Please would you take part in my study online it should take no longer than 15 minutes max and would…

Checking for accuracy and understanding of EM2WL
Starting a new thread in hopes to have everyone double check for accuracy. I am 5'2 and fluctuate between 174-178. I have lost 50 pounds in about a year eating around 1400 calories a day and now hit a plateau for the last 8 months. I have been trying to read all this information and feel like I have a good grasp on it, but…

If I am trying to fix what I now am pretty sure is surpressed metabolism, do I STOP doing cardio?
As a follow-up to my earlier thread, I am now trying to figure out where I need to fall on the calorie intake given what I have learned. Until I have my BF measured (which I have contacted the one place in my area that has the BodPod and am waiting to hear back), I can't be 100% sure that what I am dealing with is a…

Looking at Fitbits - does it matter if I get the one for the wrist or the clip on??
Just wondering what most of you use and which one seems to be best to use??

Holding steady and not budging
Hi everyone! I’ve been working up the nerve to post for quite some time. I am hopeful that experienced members will be able to provide guidance as I’m feeling pretty stuck, but I’m very optimistic. I've been making small changes one at a time over the summer and learning a ton. EM2WL makes a lot of sense to me, and I’ve…

Two technical questions about using this site
1. Does anyone have problems accessing the 'groups' page using the mobile app? I can access almost everything else except this! Wondering if it is there and I am still under a learning curve with everything, or if it isn't accessible on the mobile app. 2. I learned yesterday what the 'star' at the top means - bookmark!…

I am stunned at how low my BMR is..........more
I went and had the MEDGEM test done by a registered dietitian. At rest, I am 960.......with added daily activity (which I think is the same as TEE mentioned on this site??) it is another 190 for a total of 1150 per day with NO exercise. I am 5 ' 6", 130 and 48 years old. Does this seem really, really low? She said the…

Help!
I'm 5ft 2, 138lbs and 24y. So I had worked out my TDEE - 20%, had a bad week eating wise and ate 1000 calories over my weekly goal, but lost a 1lb which was my weekly goal. So happy with that. This week I stuck to my TDEE -20% religiously. Did MORE exercise than the week before and have lost nothing. I only weigh weekly…

Do I keep eating maintenance when weight stabilizes or can I cut?
My weight has finally stabalized 2 weeks ago after increasing calories. I am at maintenance *I think* but do I try to up my calories more now that I have stabalized or do I stay her or can I cut?

Check I've understood?
I've done my calculations and the most "accurate" BMR/RMR I can find says I'm 2000 calories, TDEE 2224 calories. My cut rate I've calculated as so close to 1900 that I reckon I should just call it 1900! So if I've understood this correctly, I should aim to eat between 1900 and 2224 calories each day, allowing extra for…

Correct Activity Level
Good afternoon, friends! I am in the midst of my reset :) . I am just finishing up my first week at full TDEE (2400) and so far no weight gain. I have been thinking though about my activity level however and just wanted to ask the peanut gallery for their consensus. I watched the EM2WL video and it advised that most…

I'm 5ft 10 weigh approx 140 pounds (huge achievement for me) and with helpful advice from mfp member forums am now eating between 2000 - 3000 calories because I want to build muscle. i actually don't scale…

How long should I stay at maintenance before I cut? EM2WL
Hello everyone! I have FINALLY reached maintenance with EM2WL. I worked my way up very slowly. I have been here for two weeks now. I was wondering how long everyone stayed at maintenance before they were capable of losing again?

TDEE seems too high
Hi, I'm new to the group. I'm 5'5 and 160 lb. I lift heavy 6 days a week and do HIIT 5 days. I usually workout an hour per day. I'm trying to lose the last 20 lbs of baby weight and the scale won't budge. Eating 1700 cals per day isn't cutting it. I just calculated my TDEE @ ~2500 cals. Can that be right?!

Massive gain after one day blowout
Heybales! You have explained something like this before, and I don't remember the science behind it. My birthday this Wednesday was a blowout. Not just a big meal, or a piece of cake...but a calorie tragedy that was capped off with an Ambien binge fest of massive proportions. Not good...pretty upset about it...but what can…

New and hopeful. Advice appreciated.
Hi there! I am new to the group, but not to MFP and weightloss. I joined roughly 3 years ago, though had a 16 month stint where I didn't track because I was in a foreign country with just not enough time, but since joining MFP I have lost 20kg (roughly 44lbs) bringing me from my all time high of 101kg, to my current 81kg.…

New to the group
Hi, I am hoping that this can help me get out of the diet/binge mode. I have a lot of weight to lose and could use friends and encouragement. I believe I successfully figured out my calories by taking my TDEE and subtracting 15%. I am an older college student and don't have time to exercise, so will those calories still be…

Need a Second Opinion Please
I have a new trainer since Sept 1st and he's an EM2WL advocate (also a former Marine....yikes). I was generally eating in the 1400 calorie range with an occasional 1500 day and seemed to have stalled out after losing about 48 lbs in a year, most of it in the first 8 months. He looked at my food diary and I gave him copies…

Please can someone check my numbers - new and scared but determined :)
Hi So, a very, very brief history of my dieting. Years, literally over 10 of disordered eating followed by a lot of help, followed by ‘normal’ yoyo dieting losing and gaining the same 10 pounds. Now I’m at a point where I’m 34, 140 pounds, 5ft 2 which is by no means fat but I am the heaviest I’ve been and I am not toned so…

Brand New
Just joined your group today. I have been doing 5:2 for the last 5 weeks, which is the antithesis of this program. Did it in conjunction with Whole30. Also threw in 8:16 for grins. Lost 16 lbs, but I think my strength and endurance has suffered due to lack of fuel. Could not do any HIIT-ran out of gas, and had the slowest…

Do I have to reset Metabolism
I have been on MFP for a few years now and over that time I have lost nearly 2 stone (28lbs) I have done this by eating around 1200cals a day (often much less when I don't eat back cals from spinning classes 2-3 times a week)..... then I eat whatever I like at the weekends. I'm now only a few pounds away from my goal and…

Hi, I'm new to this concept and I am having problems eating more food. I feel sick, stuffed, bloated and I think I'm having problems digesting all this food! Its hard for me to eat more. Question on how this works...
I have my calories set based on TDEE-15%, I get that I don't enter in my exercise calories anymore (not sure how I feel about it, just because I like knowing how much I burn from my HRM and putting it in to MFP, but I'll deal) BUT I also have a FitBit, and since it adds in calories based on my activity level, etc, does…
