I need someone to explain this one thing
I've made this into a separate topic because it's the one thing I don't understand. My cut value is 2000 and my BMR is 1500. I understand what you are saying to be eat to my cut value on rest days and on workout days, don't eat back my exercise calories unless I burn over 500 calories and then I eat the excess over 500…

Should I increase even though I'm lightly active?
I am researching this like crazy. I met with a nutritionist a couple of weeks ago who confirmed that I should be eating 1200 calories and told me not to eat back exercise cals. I went to her because I was struggling to do that but thought "ok, this must be the way". I am 5'4" and 138 and she tested my RMR to be about 1440.…

Apparently weight lifting has different types
Like with running- it turns out there are different ways to lift weights depending on your goals. I have been lifting weights the way I was taught years ago (prolly how most of us casual lifters learned) by a personal trainer- Pick a weight, count to three on the rise- hold for one- count to three on the way down. Do a few…

Is this right?
Okay, so my TDEE is 2626, and I had that calculated on the premise that I exercise 1-3 times a week. TDEE minus 15% =2232 So, I have my calories set at 2232 and macros at 40-30-30. My BMR is 1915 which is a difference of 317 calories. Using today as an example, I've already eaten 2292 calories so adding in my zumba workout…

My BMR seems to change with each calculator...
First off-- HI EVERYBODY! I'm sure this question has been asked... but now I'm more confused than ever. My first week of tracking my calories (about a month ago) I lost 3 lbs. I was eating MAYBE 1200 calories, going to the gym for an hour 4 days a week (burning anywhere from 300-500 calories). I opted not to eat back my…

easy to digest protein
Hi All, I have been upping my cals for 9 days now but am having trouble getting in my protein. The hubs and I tried low-carb several years ago and I realized that I have a hard time digesting tons of protein. I want to find that balance of health. I picked up Jillian Michaels protein mix today. I also got some almonds and…

How to get more protein
Hello everybody. I am wondering what I can do to get more protein in my diet. I am trying a soy protein powder, but it only has 14g of protein. Today I didnt drink it and I was so so low on protein. But even with it I would have still been very low on protein. Should I try a different powder? I only have a few more packs…

New and confused. Any help with diet appreciated.
I have been hit with a huge dietary issue over the last two weeks as I developed an allergy to meat protein. My doctor has since told me (yesterday) that I am not allowed to eat any meat at all for 4-6 weeks until my symptoms go away. After that she will begin to work with me on certain meats that I can try, but I am now…

Help me figure out how many calories I should eat, PLEASE :)
So will give you some back ground on me. My heaviest I was 230lbs. I am now currently 162. I did that basically by eating very little (1200 cals) and exercising alot (anywhere from 600-1000 cals) Well a few months back I was 159 feeling great bc I was finally in the average zone..when a few weeks later when I weighed…

I got something that's gonna scare the pants of ya :)
I'm upping my calories to 2500 a day. You read that right- I'm busting through the 2000 barrier and taking it higher! But Gemi! (you may say) You are still one fat mama, won't this make you HUGE??? Ahh- fear not! For I have The Math on my side :D Three different TDEE calculations from different calculators- 2936 3534 2942…

Questions, questions
So, I want to explain what (I think) I read and see if this makes sense. I calculated my BMR at 1366 and my TDEE is 2118+211(for digestion) for a total of 2330. I got the TDEE by taking my BMR and multiplying by my activity level which I chose moderately active, so 1366x1.55=2118. So, with this info...on workout days I…

Should I use bodybugg to figure out calories instead of TDEE
Heyitsdan calculated my calories and told me I should be eating 1900 calories a day, however I was wondering if my bodybugg would produce more accurate results on what I should be eating. On a day I dont exercise I burn around 2150 calories, and exercise days usually 2600-2700. Is 1900 plus exercise calories still what you…

Newbie!
Hi i just joined.. i'm hoping this works out for me. I used to starve myself and would sometimes just have a yoghurt or a cuppa soup all day. I lost lots of weight of course but then the binge cycle started (and lasted a few months) and i'm now overweight. So i tried to restrict again but didn't lose anything for months so…

Whew!
I think I finally realized that I was overthinking the whole "eating more to weigh less" concept! It finally clicked for me today. I upped my calories to a little over 1800 from 1200 and ready to rock it. Excited to see if my progress changes.

how slow to increase calories?
I was eating below BMR by approx 100-200 calories..I think it is almost 3 weeks now since I increased my calories to my BMR. I haven't gained but I am maintaining..so I want to increase again. Should I do that now or wait a bit longer? Should I increase by 100 calories at a time? Just wondering how much time to let pass…

Is there anyone else who is having a hard time eating their
This is my second week of the increased cals approach. I started out on MFP with 1530 cals for the day but now I am eating 1800. The problem I am having is that I am having an extremely hard time with eating and trying to net my bmr. I only log my cardio which has been scaled back due to my intense focus on lifting:wink: .…

A little confused about something!
Okay, so I've done all the math and finally figured out what my numbers should be.... BMR - 1313 TDEE (with a 20% decrease for fat loss) - 1711 Also have my macros set to 40/30/30. So when I do my workout and plug that info into MFP, I know it changes your goal numbers on your macros. But since I'm going by my TDEE, how do…

Starting to Waver on my decision to increase calories.....bu
I am starting to, well actually I have always doubted my decision to increase my calories. I was netting 900-1400 for a couple months and lost 17lbs. Stalled for a couple weeks and decided to research it a bit, upped my calories without really figuring out if I was on a plateau or what. It has been 2.5wks since I upped my…

Advice on Weight Lifting (any BodyPumpers out there?)
Hi, So I started eating more 3 weeks ago. After week 2 I put my scale away as the gains were freaking me out (even though i knew it was coming). I'm seeing a lot about weight lifting and "lifting heavy"..and with 100 lbs to lose i think hauling my arse out of a push up into a jumping jack qualifies;) However, I do attend a…

Holy Snapping Duck S#!T
At the age of 23, I am morbidly obese at 269.5 (5'9"), for years I was that fat girl who ate 700 cal/day and then binged   For the past 2 weeks, I have been struggling with the concept of eating net 1200 ... then eating above my BMR at 2038cal  Then, as a bid to educate myself, I stumbled across this group…
