TDEE multiplier question
I'm trying to get my MFP set up properly and wanted a quick opinion on the TDEE activity multiplier - I don't want to set my cals too high. I'm a middle school teacher, so I am on my feet most of the day, running around the school and walking my classroom (I also do calf raises during class - my students think it's funny).…

Another question on how much to eat.
Ok so I'm supposed to eat 1748 (my cut amount) everyday and not net less then my bmr. My question is am I supposed to still be logging my burned calories from work outs or is that figured into my cut amount? I'm figuring that if my cut amount is the 1748 and my bmr is 1334 I shouldn't have to eat back work out calories…

How do I ignore MFP?
So I am getting started at this eating more to weigh less idea, and I am having trouble ignoring My Fitness Pals little cues when I complete my diary at the end of the day and it says I will gain weight! I have been sick the last couple of days so have not been logging any exercise, but when I do not exercise and I come in…

Question about NETting my BMR
I'm on day 2 of EMWL and have a question about NETting my BMR. I'm a jump right in kind of girl so I went from a little over 1200 calories to 2019 (TDEE cut). I'm having a hard time getting all my calories in. I'm eating better foods so I'm staying full and so trying to eat all 2019 is making me feel uncomfortably full…

Professional BMR creates more questions for me
Just looking for some thoughts on this. In November 2011 I went to a local hospital and had a professional BMR test administered. The directions I was given was I had to do this directly upon awakening, minimal movement as soon as I woke up. This was a breathing machine in which I was to hold perfectly still and breath…

2 questions- new at this :)
Hi! I'm at 191 lbs currently. I've done the math for TDEE and BMR and cut my "cut" number. Since I've got a bunch to lose, I'm going with TDEE-20%, which I just started eating last week. 1st question: several people here say lift 3-4 days per week and do little to no cardio, and it will work to reduce fat. I'm having a…

Hiya new one :)
Hii, just wondering whether you could help me out on the number game! Im 5'2, 37 and weigh 108lbs. (small frame) Obviously not trying to loose weight, but I would like to gain muscle as I am, probably, skinny fat. Although I have been doing weights on and off over the years, have just started a programme 3 x cardio, 3 x…

The Fresh 20
Does anyone use The Fresh 20 meal plan? I'm really interested in it, but I'm wondering what kind of recipes it gives you and how long they actually take to prepare.

Lifting Weights - Need Some Motivators
So I know I need to lift. In fact it's been a part of my plan from the beginning of my weight loss journey (mid-February). Since then I've made it to the gym to lift once. That being said, I've been using Pilates to build up my core a bit as my abs are completely shot after having a baby a little over 9 months ago. So I…

After only two days of upping my calories.
I'll admit, I was too scared to up them by alot so I only upped them to about 1500 for the past two days. Since upping them for only TWO days I was able to increase my weights (plateaued with my weights for about a week - a week and a half) and lost 0.4 lbs compared to the 0.2 lbs I lost eating 1400 calories. I also look…

Wanting to do this right..
Im wanting to make sure I am doing this right. I am very aware this wont be a quick fix and I may take quite a few weeks or even a month or to get this till I start to truly lose weight. After losing a lot of weight I went on quite a low cal plan thru my gym...varying 1100-1380 cals for several weeks after sticking to it…

Super Excited!
Today I ordered: New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women, Women's Health: Big Book of Exercises, AND a fat loss monitor! I should have them all within a week! My husband thinks I'm weird, wants to know why I get so excited over fitness stuff, but not about shoes and purses. :) Can't wait to get started!

So apparently I'm healthier than I look...
I finally plugged all my numbers into the body fat calculator at fat2fit radio, and to my surprise the 31.4% (military says 32.8%) it came up with is considered well within the "healthy" range for my age (31). When I use a BMI calculator I'm also at the top end of the "healthy" range. Too bad I still look gross in a…

Progress!
So of course my scale went up when I started eating more....nearly 10 pounds. its been exactly 21 days since I started eating more and today I am 5 pounds lower than my weight before I started eating more. I am super excited. I knew there were inches loss but you know how sometimes the pounds are still there. Well now they…

Ravenous the morning after
I've noticed lately that when I have worked out hard enough in the gym that I'm slightly sore the next day... I'm so hungry in the morning that the hunger pangs wake me up. I usually go to the gym about an hour and a half after dinner (that's when we have time to go), and then have a protein shake and a banana, and…

Energy?
I'm going to be honest, I feel like sh*t right now. I'm bloating up (haven't even changed out of my sweatpants all day, jeans were tight yesterday), and I am just tired. I've been getting about 8 hours a sleep, drinking tons of water, and eating more since Monday. I did not want to go to the gym at all last night. I don't…

Questions from a newbie to the site
I joined MFP last week weighing 266 lbs and I input my details saying I wanted to lose 2lbs a week, I was given daily calories of 1540 and my first week I lost 6lbs. Having now read some of the forum posts I went to Fat2Fit radio to find out my BMR which says is 1871 (MFP says it is 1832) and I worked out my TDEE Sedentary…

Alcohol and TDEE
Hey Guys, I have stopped drinking, save one day a week when I go out with my buddies (Friday nights). I usually have between 5-8 beers. Should I factor this into my goals, even though they are empty calories? Should I leave headroom in my daily target goal for this?

Seriously, around 3000 calories????
I did the math: My BMR according to the Harris Benedict is 1703 and from the Katch McArdle is 1597. I am exclusively breastfeeding to the tune of 30 ounces a day which is another 500 calories. I try to work out 6 days a week for an average of 700 calories-HRM. This means I should be eating 2800-2900 calories a day. This…

Need some help from you smart ladies
SO: I have been bouncing around the same weight for a while now. Have lost some inches but craving for some shift in the scale as I have been very patient (1.5 months) but dont seem to be making a dent on the scale. I am 5.4" and weigh between 134-136 (depending on the day  ) I think I get this whole TDEE, BMR and…

my intro
Hi my name is Katie. I have my story in my profile it is so long to type. I began my weight loss journey in 1996 when I was tired of the 300 pound size 30W girl staring at me in the mirror. I am working on correcting my eating habits they are improving. I began by setting my right calories. am aiming not to eat to low and…

Yes, another BMR question
Every single calculator I've used has my BMR over 1550. But Fat2FitRadio has it set at 1322, using the Katch-McArdle formula (I went with the military body fat calculator to get my BF). Now, on that same site if I go with the Covert-Bailey BF calculator, the Katch-McArdle BMR formula is 1558. Since I'm seeing more of the…

Is anyone here doing the ChaLean Extreme program?
Right now I'm doing the Jillian Michael's Body Revolution. On week 6, almost halfway through! I was considering either Jamie Eason's program (but I don't belong to a gym so that may not be a good option) or NROLFW but then I stumbled upon ChaLean Extreme and noticed it's gotten really great reviews. And the people doing…

weight gain with eating more
need everyone's advice... i seem to be continuing to gain weight on insanity. i was up another 1.6 lb this morning (have gained 4 lb total the last 2 weeks). i know it's not possible to gain 1.6 in one day and probably not possible to gain 4 in 2 weeks. i don't understand what is going on. my muscles are not sore anymore…

Stupid Carbs... I'm starving!
I've had a bad carb day/ not enough protein. I'm starving, but only have 56 calories left. To think this time last week I felt completely stuffed on this many calories... and there is SERIOUSLY no food in my house. Kiddo skipped his nap and fell asleep super early, to the detriment of my planned grocery shopping. I think…

TDEE and activity level setting
I need help making sure I'm not exaggerating my TDEE. My RMR is roughly 1480. I work out 6-7 days per week. Mostly strength training circuits and some cardio/Tae Bo. My average workout time daily is between 35 and 60 mins. I have a desk job, but I get up regularly to walk around getting things and I take the stairs instead…
