Can I cut at my TDEE - 1000 calories?
Hey Guys, Question, I am just wondering if I can cut at my TDEE minus 1000 calories to try and target 2lbs a week lost. My TDEE is 3944, so if I ate 2944, and paying attention not to go below my BMR (2544) on days I work out. I am just trying to get this going, as my weight is all over the place for the past 8 days eating…

Just realized that I am succeeding!
We started a contest at work in January and as of mid March, I was down 17 pounds. I was doing weight watchers. Around that time I started doing Jillian Michaels body revolution. I was working out twice a day and eating 1200 calories. I lost 4 pounds the first week. I was starving. I went down to one workout per day and…

The scale is starting to move back down!
YAY! After upping my calories to around 2200-2400 on Friday, when I weighed 152.2 pounds, I gained four pounds very quickly (a pound per day--it was interesting to watch the scale go up and up and up and not really mind, hoping that it would turn around). This morning my patience paid off! Stepped on the scale and was down…

NROLFW vs P90X?
I've been doing P90X for a bit now and am just starting my 3rd phase. I don't mind it, but I won't say it's my favorite program in the world!! As I've been checking out the forum, I've been hearing so much about NROLFW that I'm wondering if I should get the book and switch things up a bit after I'm done my last phase of…

Question about the early weeks
So, I just recently upped my calories. I went from netting 1200 to 1400 a day (from January through 2 weeks ago). One week ago, I took a week off of exercise to heal an injury and upped my calories to about 1700 hundred. This week, I upped to 2277 (using Fat2Fit, thus not messing with exercise calories) which has me…

Question about dumbells
Ok I love my work outs and I love strength training. This is my question. I need to up my weights to at least 25lbs each for a total of 50lbs for squats but my hands do not feel strong enough to hold on to this much weight. I will admit that I have inflammatory arthritis and carpel tunnel in my wrists (though this does not…

Tired of going to bed feeling stuffed
I've been trying to plan ahead and get most of my calories in during the earlier part of the day. It is hard for me though, being a teacher. I usually end up having to stuff myself at night, especially if I have a high burn on my exercise. Last night I couldn't even manage to net my BMR because I was so stuffed and could…

lol..set me straight please!
i keep overthinking this. Okay my profile is public so you can view what I found my TDEE to be. I am going to gradually increase it by 100 each week until I get where I need to be and my body adjusts. The one thing that keeps getting me is when I change my cal goal on mfp is the excercise cals. TDEE factors this in so…

It's working!
On 4/16 I started to eat more (1800-2320). I went up 7 pounds, and freaking cried and cried. I realized I forgot to log it on hack diet, darn it! Anyhow, today I jumped on the scale and it registered at 203.2, my starting weight from last monday. My jeans fit again too, and I don't feel so bloated. Of course, I'm worried…

Daily Calorie Deficit
So does anyone know how much we should be shooting for in terms of a daily calorie deficit? I've been using the online software for The Hacker's Diet that someone posted a link to as a way to track my weight loss trend. When I pull up my chart it tells me I have a daily deficit of 919 calories. I've been eating roughly…

Forgot to post me goal (Toughmudder)
Hey Guys, I forgot to mention a target date for getting in decent shape. A bunch of my buddies are doing this and they challenged me to get in shape for it (one person is my CEO). This is Sept 29th. Its called Toughmudder, a ridiculous obstacle course. If you ever want to set a goal that is challenging and from what i…

40-30-30 ??
I have set my carbs/protien/fat to 40/30/30 That is correct right? If so it gives me: Carbs 220g Protien 165g Fat 73g I don't think I have hit my protien goal once at that number. Does it seem high to you?

And I'm off!
So I've been poking around this group for a while now, and I've been slowly edging towards eating more to fuel my body with the work I'm putting it through, but I think this week is the week that's finally going to push me over the edge towards trying to eat ~2600 cal/day. I just started a new phase in my strength…

Do you weigh your meat before or after you cook it?
For example, the package on the chicken breasts I have says a serving size is four ounces, 110 calories. Is that before or after cooking?

I NEED your help!
I am loving this group. So much good, well-researched and detailed information. I am a total advocate of fueling the body. I started out in December eating around 1800 and have since then lost 29 pounds. I increased my goal to 0.5 pounds per week since I am approaching my goal. Please read this post that I posted on the…

It's weird to eat this much.
I can't believe how much food I was able to eat today, all within my goals. I even got in all the protein I wanted to (143g - set at 25%, working my way up to 30%), while netting 50 above my BMR and not going over on carbs or fat. Went way over on sodium (as usual - working on that), but everything else was within range. I…

My turn to ask for advice
I've been doing the eat more thing for about 2 weeks now. I'm not really expecting to see results just yet but I still feel confused and just wanted to get some advice. I was one of the "Eat 1200 calories and binge on the weekends" girls so after finding my BMR and TDEE I went to around 1700 calories (20% cut). I just…

A new member to the Group!
Hi everyone, After eating an average of 900-1100 daily calories for four years, my weight loss was slow to the point of stalling about a year ago. Ever since, I have lost/gained the same 2-3 pounds for the last 12 months. On the plus side I've dropped from over 233 pounds to my current 177 pounds and have also dropped 5…

Determining Activity Level
I posted this on the main board but I wanted some feedback from the group. I am not a big calorie burner. I exercise 3-5 days a week but my burns are roughly from 350-500 calories per session. I selected moderately for my level but I am not sure. I came across this article on the web and wanted to know should I follow the…

Think its starting to work!
Well after being nervous since starting this last week ( I gained 4lbs in very short order), my weight dropped those 4lbs and I am back to the weight I started at last week when I upped my caloric intake by almost 2k calories a day :) Now lets see if I can keep it going!

So confused..
Unlike many of the amazingly ripped heavy weight lifting women in this group, I am at the opposite end of the scale! (But I want to be you  ) My challenge is this: Started Nov 11 on low carb /very clean diet that WORKED for about 4.5 months and I lost 55-60 pounds. Starting weight was high - 330. I walked, but really…

Jillian Micheals advice - rant
Jillian Micheals just posted this on her Facebook page: "Weight loss tip - So many people come up to me and tell me they can’t lose weight and yet, I haven’t ever met a person I can’t take weight off. You're not counting calories. Forget all the fad diets for a moment and just focus on the basics. Weight loss will always…

Signs are good at 2100 cals day ...
I joined MFP two weeks ago weighing in at 266 lbs and for the first week followed the calories given by the site of 1540. I was so pleased in my first week to lose 6lbs. LUCKILY at the end of the first week I found the Eat More to Weigh less group and read up posts (in place of a road map etc) indicating it was better to…

Any women on this forum over 50?
Wondering if age is related to this concept of eating more to weight less? I think it worked for me in my younger days, but even though I am very active, not so sure about it now. Any woman over 50 eating TDEE - 15%?

Teach me how to eat MORE!
My TDEE is 2414, and my BMR is 1563. I set my calorie goal to 2052 (TDEE-15%). Adjusted protein, fiber, carbs, and fat to 30, 30, 40, 30. Now, how on earth do I eat this much? Feel free to look through my diary. Any snacks you recommend? I played around with with todays food and got it close, but I do have a workout…

Goal Body weight and body fat calculators on Fat2Fit
Has anyone used the goal body weight calculator to try to figure out their goal weight? I am 5' 7" and currently ~150# and was thinking, that I'd like to be 125#-130#. I was able to get to that weight on weight watchers (I was about to turn 40 and that was a strong motivator..lol). I am now about to turn 43 and would like…
