Lab Frustrations.... (Rant ahead)
Ok, let me start by saying, I am NOT the most faithful suppliment taker. I am trying. Regardless -- here's the thing. I have the best PCP - I seriously adore him. He has been amazing, and I trust him with my and my son's life. But, I feel like sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get labs drawn when I feel like my levels…

2 months out and still on pureed/soft diet
Hi there! I am almost 2 months out and I am still on pretty much soft foods and purees. Anyone else been in this boat or dealing with this right now too? My pouch just doesn't tolerate very much, especially dense proteins. My surgeon seems unconcerned about this and said it will just take time, but I am pretty worried. He…

Calories
I am sorry if this has been asked before. I have the lapband and I wondered if the preset calorie goals that MFP sets could be too high? I seem to be struggling to lose. I have lost 30lbs since November 1st, but it's slowwwww! For my current weight I really should lose faster, in my opinion. Just wondered if I should cut…

Recommendations and warnings
I am on the waiting list for the sleeve (3 years). I'm in Canada and it's free, but you have to wait unless you want to pay out of pocket at a private clinic. Recently I've been considering paying out of pocket and even travelling to the US or Mexico. I'd love some advice on surgeons/locations that people recommend or…

lap band pain. want your take on it.
*Copied from my feed* AlyAnnesBack Just when I had forgotten that I had the lap band it reared its ugly head. I woke with a sharp pain under my breast bone. Had this pain many times before, but it always goes away and it's not going away. Been a long time since I've had this pain however. Haven't had any fluid in my band…

Protein substitutions?
Speaking of the Pre-Op Protein diet, Doctor put me on the "Bariatric Advantage" products instead of Medifast. I got one bag each of Chocolate, Orange Cream, and Banana flavored shakes, one box of 15 peanut butter chocolate bars, and some God-Awful "vegetable soup powder" which will NEVER pass these lips again... The Shakes…

Surgery on Wednesday
Hi everybody! My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 AM. I'm a bit nervous, but doing lots of research and the fact I've stayed on this pre-surgery 700 cal/day diet for two weeks gives me some confidence. I know this is a marathon, not a sprint, so I'm looking and thinking long term health and fitness. I'm a…

Pre-Op Protein Diet -- my own valuable lesson learned...
Hi guys, Surgery is slated for April 2nd. Doctor put me on the obligatory protein diet using the "Bariatric Advantage" products rather than the standard Medifast. Something about it being "more palatable".. I can't compare, but I'm on day five and I've learned some pretty valuable things about myself... This diet has me…

Week Three Boot Camp
So I am in week three of boot camp, while I haven't lost a lick of weight I am feeling stronger and better. Last night was really hard, the whole group was running and I walked most of the way but I made my lap around. Then we did a million squats, ok not a million but Lord it felt like it. I might have cried at one point.…

Saying Hi - new here
Hi! I have had my lap band since 4/18/06. I haven't done so well. At first I lost fast, 86lbs total. Started having trouble swallowing and kept telling myself that "it's just me not being compliant, it'll work itself out." It worked out to be a gain of every pound I had lost. Went back to my doc with the intent on revising…

4 days after gastric bypass surgery
Hi all, I've finally got the procedure done on Wednesday and have been home for two days now. Sipping on water and Boost. I'm not hungry at all and am having a hard time finishing just one 8ounce can of boost a day. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it bad for me not to be taking in more calories? Also when should I…

Fell off the Lap Band Wagon
I am looking for people to help inspire and motivate me. I had the lap band surgery in 2005. I initially lost 140 pounds and over the last 3-4 years have gained about 60 pounds back. It seems that I have fallen back into my old habits prior to my band. I do believe that I have made the first step by realizing I need to…

Annyone with Lap Band had revision to gastric sleeve?
I have had the Lap Band for almost 9 years and I have a lot of gastric problems. I can not even tell you how many times I have had my fluid removed and then added and then removed. I had a great success in the beginning losing 138 pounds and was able to keep it off. Even though my diet did not change it seemed after about…

Awkward Moments in Weight Loss?
This past weekend I had some weird things happen to me - First, I saw one of my neighbors who I hadn't seen since New Year's Day. She was being really sweet and complimentary about my weight loss, but then she was asking questions like, how much do you weight now, what size are you, how much more do you want to lose, etc,…

At home workouts like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred?
Hey all, So I am almost 2 years post op and looking for new ways to stay active. I have a membership with my college gym that I go to when I have time, but sometimes it's just so time consuming just getting there and back. It's a 30-40 minute walk there, I try to workout for an hour or so, and then a 30-40 minute walk…

First consult on Friday
I've been thinking about surgery for over ten years and at the time I first looked into it, the surgeons where I lived (in British Columbia Canada) were only doing open RNYs and the waiting list was more than three years to even get to a doctor, let alone get on the surgery wait list. I see the Weight Wise clinic in…

Sad with stall
Currently in a stall for the past 2 months... months 6&7 post surgery. The "hungry" has returned after disappearing nicely for those first months. I have started at a gym about 6 weeks ago, adding in regular exercise is one of the harder things for me. I guess I can be grateful that I don't experience dumping... but then I…
