Update on my appointment
Hello Friends! I had my appointment yesterday with the Metabolic Doc, I need to do additional labs in a week , due to get this, HIGH Calcium! He needs me to monitor that I am not taking in more than 1200mg a day which I know I am because my daily vitamins (that I have taken religiously) add up to 1200 alone without…

Starting the next Phase of My Life
Greetings! I've been playing with the idea of WLS for a number of years, and finally have 'flipped the switch' to get going on changing my life. I have been fat since childhood, but at least since college an athletic fat guy. I hovered in the 300's for most of my adult life, diving down to my lowest adult weight of 260 in…

How do you stay encouraged?
Like so many, I have fallen off the wagon and gained 20 lbs over the last year (mostly recently). I was wondering what are some of the ways everyone here stays encouraged to stay on track. More towards staying on track to exercise. I'm thinking about also printing out my before surgery and after surgery (at my lowest of…

Changes to menstrual cycle post WLS?
Hello-- I had my sleeve on 03/24 and my period should have started around 04/11. It did not start until this morning, and I have been having cramps like i did as a teen in addition to extremely loose bowels all day. I am 47, so it may be peri-menopause. I am just wondering if this it is normal for your cycle and pain level…

Getting discouraged
I recommitted to my band in November. I've lost 31 lbs since. I am now beginning to struggle and it's really getting me down. I am eating what I should, I log my food, I stay within calorie range and nothing is moving. I was doing so good with exercise but this week have totally slacked off. How do you keep yourself going…

Does anyone find it hard to eat enough
Greetings all, I am not too far away from reaching my own personal goal of 145 after RNY surgery 7 months out. Am wondering, does anyone find it hard to eat enough to maintain their weight? I am still feeling full most of the time and not hungry at all and get overly stuffed if I eat more than 4 oz or so of food. Thanks....

How do you explain
It seems from the moment I came to MFP I have been having to explain my small amounts of food, that I have blood work done every 3 months to follow my nutrition and even have my own nutritionist. How do you all explain to your MFP friends you are doing things by the book and that your just not hungry but you do get in the…

Need some advice, surgery in two day...
My surgery is scheduled for 4/23 and I'm so nervous because I did horribly on my two week liquid diet. I'm afraid I'll get to the hospital on Wed and I won't be able to have my surgery. I have every excuse in the world why I didn't or couldn't follow the diet but I know they're just excuses. I didn't eat bad food but I did…

"Just exercise more and eat salads"
Yes, this was said to me by someone I considered a friend. I've known her for a year and she's the motherly type so I felt I could confide in her about my decision to have WLS. I was stunned to the point of speachless when that was her comment to me. The only thing I could say was "It's not just that easy." Since then I've…

Newly Banded!
I just had the Lap band procedure on Tuesday, other than having rough night last night with extreme pain in my rib cage due to gas, I am doing well. I would like to hear more from other bankers as to what to expect next. Good and bad. I really want to make this work and so far I have done much work on my own, I would just…

lunch ideas for bandsters?
I need some new lunch options, chicken breast, greek yogurt chicken salad and yogurt egg salad are getting old. I don't eat bread if I can help it (it doesn't pass the band) and wraps/tortilla's seem like wasted calories. Lettuce is hard for me as well, seems to be hard to chew enough to avoid sticking so I don't do a lot…

Day 4: still higher than surgery day...
So... My surgery was last Wednesday at about 2pm. Got home from the hospital around Friday at 5 or so. I expected the pain, and I expected the post-surgery "gassy" weight gain, but I'm just curious.... 4 days in and I'm still above the pre-surgery (after 2 week protein diet) weight. Only a pound or two, but still. I had to…

Hi all! I've been to a couple of seminars and have picked my doctor based on those. I have my first consultation appointment on Friday and I am wondering what to expect? I am hoping to get the sleeve. I know I will have a 3 month supervised diet because of my insurance and I'll do that with their in-house dietician. Other…

Maximum Amount Of CCs In Your Band
Hi! So I was banded back in November and as of right now I have 7.75 ccs (my band holds 14, I think). I still feel like I can keep increasing ccs in the future. Sleeve or Bypass?
Hi everyone, I am currently in the process to have weight loss surgery. My insurance (kaiser) makes it mandatory to take a 12 week course. In the course they made it seem that the difference in weight loss was drastically different from the sleeve and bypass. However, I had a consultation with the bariatric doctor…

I have questions about what others have experienced after surgery. I am still over 4 months out from my surgery and have lost 40 lbs. With further loss before surgery and even more after what should I expect about "Skin Flab"? I do not know what else to call it. My stomach is starting to droop already. With more weight…
