Incorporate both and you'll see great results :)

Good points. Why do some people prefer to have intense weight resistance while losing weight? That's what I assumed was the best approach to preserving muscle while losing weight.

This is what we are studying currently in my nutrition class. Insane.

I seriously died laughing. Thank you.

Also, I created this thread just for this purpose. It seems there are always 50/50 battles on this topic. It's like the epic you're vs your battles. :)

I just now saw this. Thanks so much for that incredible feedback, I'm sure your compassionate words radiate hope for so many people. LOL.

That's why I love MFP community. Even topics about corn get interesting... Not to mention how much info I learn from the intelligence of different minds. I increased my calorie intake per day thanks to advice from everyone! I do feel better already. As for corn, I'm seeing mixed reviews, but more good than bad. I did not,…

As said above, yoga is great. You can also look up youtube videos that you can workout with while watching them. I was actually doing a low-impact workout today on youtube. Walking is also a really great exercise that doesn't hurt the knees. Go at your own pace. Just remember that ANY activity, even walking, is better than…

My biggest tip from one person who was severely overweight (and still slightly am, but losing weight well), cut the soda/pop and drink a lot of water. Also, try to avoid white bread, white rice, etc. Those alone can kill your calories if you eat them. Water is your best friend :) I know it seems tough at first, but there…

Most sites that I see recommend 1200, so that's what I've been following. No need for condescending comments lol. I do appreciate the concern though. I will look into the proper amount. Also, thanks for the input on the corn ^_^

Due to the higher carb count. Sorry for not saying why I was warned from it lol

Thank you so much

Try googling workouts for beginners. Those are very helpful. The best advice I can give is to start slow and make sure you're comfortable. Starting the journey of working out is like rolling a snowball down a hill. It's small at first, but the farther you go the bigger and stronger you become. Workout on machines in the…

ps - almond milk is a wonderful substitute for milk. I get the vanilla with reduced sugar. I think it's 60 calories a cup.
-
Also, truvia/stevia are great 0 calorie sugars that you can add to coffee or tea. All in moderation of course :) They truly helped me stay off of actual sugar and soda.

A lot of people are very hardcore on the topic of diet pop/soda, but honestly... if it prevents you from drinking an actual soda, go for it. It still has 0 calories, regardless. One of the biggest arguments is against aspartame. I recently learned in my college nutrition class (with many studies backing it up) that…

Frozen bags of broccoli are great, or any vegetable for that matter (that is frozen). Great value brand is very affordable. If you're going for the mega cheap route, don't hesitate from eating eggs. You can add a LOT of vegetables to eggs to make them seem more appealing. Onions, peppers (red, green, yellow), tomatoes,…

Also, you can boil a lot of eggs and put them in the refrigerator and eat them whenever.

I read about doing a mass-cooking spree of chicken. You can boil it, bake it, or whatever, but once you finish making a bag or two (or three if you want to cook in advance hardcore) you can free it immediately in a sealed container and it will stay healthy to eat for a long time. I tried this, due to my work schedule, and…

Coffee is a GREAT idea! If i'm not mistaken, a cup of black coffee only has 4 calories per cup. I'm one of the odd ones because I like pure black coffee. I have tried putting 0 calorie sweeteners (stevia and truvia are best in my opinion) to change things up sometimes. You can also add almond milk to coffee and it makes it…

Oh i'm definitely in! Starting this morning.

Thank you! I will definitely try this

I'm not sure if this is directed as condescending or not, but my original post was just seeking help for the worry of hurting my knees while forming muscle in my quads and glutes.. I was unaware that I should've specified in extreme detail. My worry is that when I try traditional squats, my knees hurt quite bad and I worry…

I was originally 360 after graduating high school, but I lost to 280 and was running 6 miles a day. I never thought I would ever gain it back, but I went through a bad 3 years of depression and I gained up to 389 a few months ago, but i'm aleady 22 pounds down and It's getting easier. I think the most motivational thing is…

Honestly, add eggs into your diet. They are SUPER healthy and have amazing vitamins and minerals. There are multiple ways to make them. Boil them, fry them (preferably with coconut oil), and scramble them. Those are my 3 favorite ways. You can add salsa, cheese, onions, or any vegetable that you'd like for extra flavor.…

Thank you, I truly appreciate all of your help

Thank you so much! I will check these out ^_^

I've tried all of those, and although all of them help, I find walking on a treadmill on a high incline is amazing. Anything inclined 7+ helps a lot.

Reading is great too! ^_^

Thank you so much! I will look up all of those. You guys are so kind ^_^
