  • i guess it depends on what qualifies as a treat. For me, one oreo, or sugar-free pudding serving is nothing but sadness. I'll happily forgo those every day of the month in order to eat one whole pastry from a local bakery with a cappuccino in a real mug once a month, or a big steak on the grill, or those coconut banana…
  • I was born very premature. The Docs instructions were to feed me as much as I would eat. By the time I was a toddler I was chubby, and used to eating all I could. I was always overweight from then on despite active lifestyle and healthy nutritious diet. I had to sit at the same dinner table as my underweight sister, and…
  • for me, coffee is has 2 benefits: 1) I find it filling and I use it as a low-cal snack, and 2) the caffeine boost is great, and for me replaces the sugar rush from the sweet snacks that I used to go overboard on. I used to use lots of heavy cream, then switched to half and half, then to whole milk, now I use 2 TBSPs of 2%.…
  • oh why? that thing makes me cry.
  • from what I've found looking into that issue myself, weak ab muscles, lots of sitting that leads to muscle imbalance contribute. Having a belly that you have to carry around also makes your body compensate -if you don't have strong abs to help hold it up, it drags your front down, which tilts your pelvis and makes your…
  • carrots. everyday. and the largest artichoke I've ever seen, steamed, for dinner. that counts, since it's inedible raw.
  • discovered my shirt is hanging straight in the front, brushing past the rolls instead of clinging to them. stomach no longer sticks out farther than boobs!
  • 5'5" SW 198, size 16 pants (getting tight), size XL tops CW 153, size 10 pants (getting loose), size M tops GW 140, hopefully size 8 pants (i've got hips), size S tops. bottom half is usually a size larger than top half.
  • the bakery, when you first walk in. produce is between the bakery and refrigerated on the side of the 1st aisle. Then meats, lunch meats and cheese, milk, yogurt, beer, butter, eggs. All the freezers make up the first few aisles. Granted, most of the aisles I don't go down, but some are mandatory (beans, frozen veg,…
  • when you eat after being hungry for a while, do you eat too fast? for me, going from full on hungry to wolfing down my meal leads to stomach unhappiness. I feel like you have to eat a little, let your stomach catch on that it's getting food, and then eat the rest. Also make sure you drink enough with your meal, and…
  • i cracked down hard a week ago. Last year the Thanksgiving through New Year's season took a toll, so this year I'm preparing for it, working to lose a few pounds more than how I've been trending with weight loss, with the expectation that there's then room for a couple pound gain related to holiday celebrations. 3 months…
  • if someone's obesity is causing life-altering health issues, why not have options? Some people probably will do better with a physical change to their bodies to help with weight loss, rather than the elusive "will power" alone that's all in the head. Using this thing regularly is a tangible reminder of the reason why you…
  • yeah. I regained about 20 lbs, and am losing it again. But it came back on in different places - hips instead of butt, legs instead of arms.
  • a really good cup of coffee is not bitter, but our average everyday stuff tends to be so I use 2 or 3 drops of liquid sucralose. No noticeable artificial taste with the concentrated form I use, unless I put too much. I use 2 TBSP fairlife 2% milk for 15 calories. I find fairlife milk to be a bit thicker and richer in…
  • I love tzaziki sauce on raw veggies. Garlic, dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, yogurt, grated cucumber. Yum! Or I dry sautee mushrooms with thyme and rosemary and salt, then add just a little milk to make a sauce. I do it with portabellas and put them on a little pasta, but love them by themselves. A pinch of shredded…
  • I had a nutrition class in high school. We figured out that pizza is pretty much a perfect food according to the old food pyramid which was the foundation for the class. The problem with teaching nutrition is that it's a conflict of interest with the cafeteria catering companies and Big Ag's control of school lunch…
  • I love those Italian-style Pizzelle waffle cookies. Not too sweet. I get the Aldi french vanilla flavor. 6 cookies for 140 calories! They're flat and crispy. If you like Anise, that's a traditional flavor option. Wonderful with coffee, if you're looking for more of a carby thing than a protein thing.
  • I started keeping track of how many special get-togethers I had involving food...pretty consistent all year, and I'm not overly social. Starting changing my mindset to "this is a special people occasion, not a special food occasion" to keep it in check. I have to ask myself: which foods at this event do I really love, and…
  • i totally just recently figured this out too. If I pee more than normal while drinking my usual amounts, a big scale drop is coming! I hope it's water in the fat cells being released...which means the fat's on its way out too! Don't know for sure, but extra trips to pee often means big loss, whatever the explanation.
  • it's taken a while, but i've finally figured out the difference between feeling "satisfied" and feeling "full". My goal now is never to feel 'full', but also not to be hungry for more than an hour before meals. My experience is that after, truthfully, quite a while, several months, of eating small portions, I now feel…
  • i love pickles. eat them every day. But i can totally follow a pickle with a sweet food. Or alternate bites of pickle with anything else. The taste does not take away my desire to eat something else.

  • watch the calorie content of the dressing...that's not included in calorie count because it's a condiment. mcdonald's salad with double meat? I think i'd rather have a burger for the same # of calories.
  • between the bread for breakfast pasta for lunch, and more fruit than veg, i'd still be hungry too! Those are quick sources of energy for your body, but not long lasting. The fig bar - i'm guessing that's calorie dense - you could have a bigger snack for fewer calories and make more room for dinner.
  • when I started trying to maintain it was more like a 1000 cal day, a 1500 day, a 2000 day, back to 1000 day - all over the place. I never did cheat meals while losing, so I thought at maintenance I could do that...but it all went downhill. I'm the type needs a really rigorous plan - flexibility doesn't work for me. Has to…
  • I was going for 1200, but always felt like I needed to leave a buffer for errors in accuracy, and tasting things while cooking (I cook nearly everything from scratch, and don't use recipes, so tasting is essential. I'm huge herb and spice person). i'm also sedentary. aiming for 1200 also builds in some wiggle room for when…
  • I was way overweight as a kid, and I had no notion of portion size. My mom was a size 2-4 all her life, and ate huge amounts (extremely active person; lots of veggies). She was always worried about my weight, and she always provided healthy food (no chips; no soda; dessert only on special occasions; homecooked meals always…
  • yep...as little as one cookie and suddenly i've eaten a dozen. It's sort of an out of body experience. If I don't eat the cookie or other trigger food, i'm fine. I have control and consciously make food choices, but trigger foods flip that switch...and its totally different game. It's a whole different psychological and…
  • balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard, garlic, dash of milk for creaminess. Some kind of herb: cilantro, thyme, whatever i'm in the mood for.
