  • As someone who is your height and was around 153 pounds when I started I'd say no. It took 3 months or so to get 15 pounds off and that was eating 1200, exercising and eating back at least half my exercise calories. I stalled a bit this summer as I was a normal weight at that point, though on the higher end, and my logging…
  • I guess I chose to believe that the poster verified her scale was inaccurate and asking for advice on ways to keep her scale working properly, not that the poster assumed packages were correct. I am well aware of why people choose to weight their food, but if you arn't occassionally testing your scale with a known weight…
  • I am assuming that the poster tested the scale and verfied it was incorrectly measuring, not that they assumed the prepackaged food could be correct. I figured mine out when it would jump around a lot. It would suddenly go from 6 to 10 to 5 and nothing had been added or taken away.
  • I assume weighing food incorrectly means the scale is making things either weight less or more than it's supposed to be. I had that happen and it's frustrating. I ended up getting a new scale and so far it's been fine. You may just have bad luck.
  • My brother and an ex boyfriend were on adderall for a time. Both were prescribed it for ADHD. My brother stopped using it because he didn't like how it made him feel, focused but also like he couldn't get super excited and was just mellow. He also didn't like how much it suppressed his appetite, he never wanted to eat. My…
  • My cousin has MS. She found that exercise has helped her a lot. I don't think she has necessarily gained muscle but has definitely gained in strength and kept her mobility. She decided once she was diagnosed, after being paralyzed for a short time, that she wanted to use her body as much as she could for as long as she…
  • Yeah you are wobbling because your speed is too high to walk. I wobble at high speeds because I can't keep up and I'm finding ways to compensate. You could set it to that speed (4-4.5) and start a slow jog intead of lowering your speed. I also walk with me feet going out a bit but I find when I run my gate straightens and…
  • "Besides, I'm almost 19 now and I grew 2 inch due to lots of stretching exercises every evening, proper nutrition, and quality sleep in the last 9 months. So my advice to you is to set a goal and work hard for it and most important don't cheat cz you're only cheating yourself. Good luck :)" No, you did not grow from…
  • 1200 a day for a male at 5'9? 1200 is the lowest amount of calories a female. I think you should definitely start lifting but also eat more. You need to properly fuel your body and workouts.
  • Has happened to me my whole life. Doctor was never concerned. Blood pressure can drop from dehydration, so just make sure you are keeping yourself hyrdated. Other than that stand up more slowly.
  • This would happen to me and would always make me give up. This last time I just decided to ignore it and push through. I'm glad I did because eventually the water weight left. I had a nice whoosh.
  • What? Bones and teeth can survive a very long time. You can actually tell a great deal from bones and teeth, like diet, age, sex, disease, work likely performed, etc.
  • How are you tracking? Weighing your food? Picking the correct enteries? Also, you should eat back some exercise calories if you are only eating 1200 calories. You should net 1200 total a day. If you are indeed maintaining then you are not accurately logging your food.
  • Why are you taking what Lustig says as the end all be all? There are studies out there that come to different conclusions. He doesn't even list any references in his article that are meaningful and support his claims. You say you want references, yet don't need them from the guy you are defending.
  • Lustig advertises his book at the beginning of the article. It's a link to amazon so you can buy it. Also, he's an endocrinologist. He probably has less training in nutrition than someone with an advanced degree in nutrition. My friend is a doctor and has less knowledge than me about bones because, unless you specialize in…
  • Int J Food Sci Nutr. 2007 Sep;58(6):445-60. Sugar intake, soft drink consumption and body weight among British children: further analysis of National Diet and Nutrition Survey data with adjustment for under-reporting and physical activity. Gibson S1, Neate D. This study concluded that it wasn't sugar intake and soft drink…
  • He has one reference and it's a paper he co-wrote. That's a red flag right there. If you're going to make a claim damning sugar you better back it up with more than one reference.
  • It's a weight-bearing exercise so you build up bone but not muscle.
  • People in Spain and Portugal don't eat dinner until 9pm or 10 pm and, well, they are a lot thinner and healthier than people in the US.

When you get yours change the unit to grams and put a nickel on it. It should read 5 grams. If it doesn't then it is not working…

It's also Ozeri but has 4,000 reviews and 4.5 stars. I went through two scales in like 6 months because they weren't accurate or quit working. I test my scale's…
  • You put the container on the scale, tare it, and then put the food in to get the weight of the food.
  • I get annoyed when I safely pass a cyclist that is moving at a slow pace only to have to stop at a stop sign and have the cyclist ignore the stop sign and go by me. I then have to wait to pass them safely again. You want to be a vehicle on the road then you have to follow the rules of the road. That means stopping at stop…
  • Are you weighing your food when you count calories? Even tracking oils and condiments you use while cooking? Are you eating back your exercise calories?
