  • It's a specific diet from a book called the 4 hour body. Similar to Atkins, which i've never tried. I don't exercise much, and according to the book most people who feel the way you did while restricting carbs are not eating enough protien. I haven't had trouble with fatigue or hunger at all, because I consume a lot of…
  • I'm sitting at my computer eating dinner, which is a big bowl of salad and a small plate of pasta. I'm guessing it's about 400 cals, but it will probably be more since i seem to always underestimate when i prepare meals. I've used at least 20 ingredients in this meal ( fancy myself a chef ) and i wasn't going to log it,…
  • I loved that book, it is full of great reasons why we should adopt a meat - free diet. I was bothered by the fact that the author makes hardly any reference to veganism. I assume he is not one, but for reasons he wrote about, veganism seems the natural and right path to choose, though starting out vegetarian makes sense.
  • Good luck! I'm working on doing the same thing, learning as much as i can and slowly phasing out all animal products. I don't eat any meat except fish, and last week i switched from cow milk to soy. My next big challenge will be cheese... it's my favorite food and iv'e heard the fake varieties aren't very good. I'd love to…
  • I read an article about rice yesterday. It said you can save rice in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days. After that it starts to harbor bacteria that can upset your stomach. When you reheat it, mix in a few tablespoons of broth, water, or another liquid so it won't be dry and clumpy. Enjoy!:drinker:
  • I'm exactly the same, so in love with spice! Especially on eggs, with a sprinkle of cheddar.

  • I know a lot of people are going to dissagree with me, but i'm going to give you the truest response i can, from experience. Drink a lot of water, unsweetened tea, and black coffee. Replace 1/4 of the calories you consume in carbs with lean protien and vegetables. Make sure you do a half hour of cardio each day. The…
  • I love eggs too, and mexican food, so i love to make the occasional breakfast burrito. I start with a scrambled egg + 1 egg white, wrap it in a small whole wheat tortilla with Laughing Cow light swiss cheese spread, fresh salsa, a few avacado slices, and lowfat refried beans. It's delicious, low cal, and filling.

  • Thanks everyone for sharing, i found many of your posts quite helpful :flowerforyou:
  • Mmmm miso soup  If you make your own sushi you'll have a lot more control of the calories. And it's fun! I found an inexpensive sushi making kit complete with a recipe book at Barnes and Noble, now i make it at home once a week.
  • Thanks Fiendish for this post. I devoured half a pound of brie cheese (on special k lowcal crackers lol:laugh: ) and it got me to thinking about why i always want to binge before bed. Most of it it psychological, BUT i'm also on a 1200 cal plan and aim to be under that most of the time. I'm a small person anyway, 5'6" and…
  • I commend you for taking the time to look this up. There is so much misinformation out there the best thing we can do is find out for ourselves. Thanks, i was wondering about this myself:wink:
  • Good for you! Soon you could be saying "i've lost 5 pounds a month for the past six months" this site really does make it easy, it's like figuring out the answer to a riddle that's been stumping you for so long. I think the best tips for success here are to be faithful and honest with your calorie journal, don't drink…
  • :flowerforyou: That sounds awesome! I love coffee, usually have it at home with low fat hazelnut creamer. Thanks for the new idea!
  • I'm bad at that i almost always eat something in the hour before bed. It helps me relax and feel sleepy. I try to make it something light, like a little popcorn, a piece of fruit, or a pickle.
  • You seem like such a sweet girl  I'm glad you are finding this site as helpfull as i am. I have some great friends here, and sometimes you need to ask these hard questions to gain some perspective. That said, i think my ultimate goal is to fit into a size 2. I haven't been that since high school. I too have been…
  • I feel your pain. I've learned to keep a stash of fiber one bars in my purse. If i'm out somewhere and need a meal, i'll eat two of them for about 280 cals. The fiber keeps me full enough till i can cook my own food. Trail mix is also a good option, and bananas.

  • I never would have even thought about counting calories from drinks before i started working on my fitness. Now i very rarely waste calories on beverages. Today was my once-a-month fast food meal, but it got way out of hand. At least now i know enough to see how bad for you this food truely is, and avoid it!

  • It's a brand new day, don't let the past weigh you down (pun intended) we all have bad weekends.
  • I'm not at all offended, i mostly agree with you. Like i said, the sugar i give my daughter is mostly natural from fruit. She only gets the other sugar abround once a month, and then it's a small taste. I like to make her happy and let her experience all the worlds taste sensations. But i don't have unhealthy foods in my…
  • I'm sorry to hear about the problems some of you have had. It sounds awful! My mom is a GYN, and she suggested the mirena after i got pregnant while using the Nuva Ring. I had not a bit of pain getting it in, and after more than a year my periods have stopped completely:smile: I was on the Depo shot for years, and i gained…

  • When you're losing weight, i think the best rewards are things that celebrate you're body in some way. Clothes are great (bikinis!), getting your hair done is nice too. How about an hour long full-body professional massage? Or having some pro photos taken of you with your family?
  • And one more thing - keep in mind that we are born with a preferece for sweet and fatty foods. Breast milk is mostly fat and tastes sweet, that's why babies love it. Doesn't make it bad. And if this chocalate flavored milk supplement is full of nutrients and is meant to replenish during times of illness, then it's no worse…
  • Babies older than one year can eat chocolate, and ice cream, and anything else they're not allergic to as long as it's in moderation. I very rarely give my daughter straight up sugar like that, but fruit, yogurt, and juice is very sugary and of course she has that stuff in her diet. She's 15 months old, and enjoys pickles…
  • All great ideas. You've inspired me to dust off my crock pot and get cooking again. Vegetarian chili anyone?
  • One more thing about Wendy's - you could try a baked potato and a small chili. It's a good filling meal, low fat and cals ( i'm pretty sure) and they have unsweetened tea that is perfect on a hot summer night and 0 cals. Jeez, i sound like a spokesperson:laugh:
  • I used to work at Wendy's - they're not that bad. The salads and chili are made fresh everyday, and the beef is never frozen, grilled fresh to order. That said, i try to stick to the once a month rule. If there's a new specialty item at a fast food chain that you really really want (bacon and blue burger mmmmmmmmmmm) then…
  • Thank you so much! I'm ready to start, and i'll let everyone know how it goes:bigsmile:
