I also have fibromyalgia, diagnosed about 15 years ago and have been struggling to manage it ever since. I have found some success with medication, but I know that losing weight would be much more effective in pain management. If you're looking for more friends please send me a request!

Your friend isn't the only one that believes misinformation! I have had two doctors in the past that told me "walking wasn't exercise" (uh what? My walks burn 400kcal and increase my heart rate), and that I shouldn't worry about calories and just "eat healthy." Nevermind that "eating healthy" can absolutely lead to weight…

My advice is to continue with the PT, add in some yoga stretches - specifically "king pigeon pose," and related ones, since it's what helped me the most. How long have you been doing the PT? If it's been more than a few months I would definitely go back to the doctor and ask for further tests. If you have a way to access…

I agree with other posters that this isn't a healthy mindset. Losing the weight isn't going to change how you feel about yourself. I'm very sorry that you're having such horrible thoughts, I do understand. I struggle with them too! But I have to say, finding myself a professional to speak to has really helped in a lot of…

Old cheese. Pesto or tomato sauce

True love. The addition of toys can make mediocre sex quite satisfying ;)

Star Wars isn't exactly a hard sci fi. You won't find any detailed explanations because none are given and it's unlikely they ever will be. Star Wars is a "space opera," it's more fantasy than science fiction, which is one of the things that separates it from Star Trek. Anyway, to answer the original question, it simply…

I'm happy to hear you'll be increasing your intake! Not eating enough food puts you in danger of malnutrition which is something you probably want to avoid.
-
You totally got this! I got a major health scare this past December that helped me "wake up" and realize I need to get my butt in gear and get healthy. Support is crucial, so if you want please send me a friend request!

I had a doctor say the same thing to me, once. Then I lost 40 lbs a few years ago by walking and tracking my food intake. Your doctor is WRONG! Weight loss is about balancing calories in a way that leaves you at a deficit so that your body is forced to use sources other than food for energy. I found another doctor what…

I will be limiting my alcohol intake considerably. I won't be completely dry, but I want to go from 10 drinks/week (2 bottles of wine) to just 2 or 3 drinks on the weekends (half a bottle of wine. We can do this!

I got started with buying a few books from a local thrift shop. I picked up Becoming Vegetarian (it delves a bit into nutritional needs,) The Veganomicon, and another huge book of vegetarian recipes for about $15. I eat very little meat these days, so expanding my repertoire was and is still essential for maintaining…

Just an iron supplement to help with my low iron anemia.

There are other ways to track your progress. Some full body photos (only you have to see them, you do NOT have to share them) will be valuable towards the end of your journey. Measuring your waist, hips, etc. (as another poster suggested) is also good. Practice thinking of the measurements as just numbers. They do not…

Both of my boys will get it. I think it's important to do our part in maintaining public health. It would be irresponsible not to.

Hey there Brenda, I'm also struggling to get back on the wagon. Lots of restarts, but no tangible loss yet. Sending you a request.

Just a prenatal, since it's cheaper than the iron pills I need for my low iron anemia. I've only been on them for a couple of weeks but I already notice a HUGE difference in my energy levels and clotting ability.

I've been on several medications for anxiety (both SSRIs and SNRIs) and in my experience, most side effects taper off as your body begins to tolerate the medication better. I've never had trouble with appetite side effects, but every body is different. You might have to try several medications before you find the right fit.

Good luck! I have fibro too, and it makes weight loss a bit more challenging but certainly not impossible. I'll add you :)

Edmonton! Adding you :) I have around 60 to lose.

The only reason anybody is fat is because they eat too many calories. It has nothing to do with laziness, activity level or some kind of moral failing. Me? I'm obese. I'm obese because my main method of coping with my depression is to eat comfort foods. I am not lazy. I walk 8000 steps a day. I'm a full time student with…

There isn't enough empirical evidence for me to consider using them as an alternative medicine. I do think there is a place for aromatherapy and have used oils for that purpose, but it's simply a therapeutic effect. Scents often have an effect on the brain and can make us feel good (or bad, depending on the memory it…
