Just bring your "CREEPER REPELLANT"...

The blood type diet works very well in selling books to gullible people.

If that's your only choices, just eat both, because your goals don't seem to matter...

I use body measurements to determine body fat. The key here is to just find an alternate tracking device to measure progress. The scale is great, but it does not tell the whole story. We should all be tracking body fat along with weight. Again, the most accurate and easiest system is taking various body measurements and…

Same here, and on this journey, I have also learned to enjoy more nutritional foods. For those still struggling, give it time. I have actually lost my taste for what once constituted staples of my daily diet...soda, mac and cheese, McD burgers and all sorts of chips, dips and breads galore. Veggies? FORGET-ABOUT-IT! My…

GREAT! The key is to just stay on that bar and let your body begin its adaptation.

I have just one issue, and it's true for EVERY GYM! :o It's that naked old guy in every locker room in every gym. He's always there...

I used to eat out twice daily, and that was just part of my fat guy life. No more of this! We go out once or twice in a month, and when I go out, it's to have fun and enjoy the evening - not diet and worry about calories. I'm not pay good money to eat lousy and deny myself something fabulous. To reach my health and fitness…

This was a very tough question as certain goals were reached. I started out a huge 280 pounds, fat and sick The original goal was just get under 200...and I did. DONE - or was I? :/ I dropped another 10 pounds...and another...and finally another. Today I am actually at the higher end of normal, healthy weight according to…

WELL DONE! :)

Just eat about 600 calories every day, and exercise 2 or 3 hours daily. The problem is you'll just gain it all back, but fast weight loss is like that. The MFP recommendation is no more than 2 pounds per week. 1 pound lost per week is even better. For safe, steady and lasting results, eat right, exercise smart, and forget…

As some have mentioned, the best routines are those that reflect your goals and make up exercise you can perform regularly. Here is my own routine which is all about maintaining weight and slowly losing body fat. You must decide what types of exercises will get you results. GOOD LUCK :)

I won't usually eat anything processed with added sugar. I stick to a whole food diet 75% of the time. It's made a huge difference while still allowing for a minor foray into twinkie territory...

...and I'd like to see the writer's personal results related to health and fitness. Sometimes those with the loudest opinions have the worse results - especially when they toss around a heavy name.... >>H A R V A R D---H A R V A R D---H A R V A R D---H A R V A R D<<

I got into Intermittent Fasting some years back and found it a useful tool for calorie control and it might even have reduced my body fat in weight maintenance though I can't say for sure. The fat loss could be from other actions I engage. Best of luck to you, and remember, breakfast is for sissies... DEBATE OVER ---> :p…

I lost the weight logging foods on MFP over about 2 years, and in 4 years of weight maintenance, I no longer log, but have learned to eat intuitively. Every day is still a challenge. It never gets easy. There are certain people I can't hang with and certain places I can't go without blowing it. In weight maintenance it's…

I stopped logging years ago with no issues. My big challenge is willfully pigging out. There are certain people I can't hang with and certain places I can't go without blowing it. In weight maintenance it's just too easy for the weight to creep up, and then I'm like most who regained that awful lard. There is an event…

haha - nothing beats that feeling...

Genetics play a role in body types and physical traits but does not rob us of the potential for peak fitness or optimal health. If you want to look good, feel great and live well, the answer is the same regardless of genetics. Eat right...exercise...and the devil is in the details. The harder you work, the better your…

As I get older, my ability to recover has diminished. I need that one day away from the weights before I hit it again. You must objectively assess your own situation.

Diet simply means food intake. Just because people have perverted the meaning over time does not mean we need to pass a peach seed over it. Just accept the primary definition of diet and don't get caught up in semantics. di·et ˈdīət/ noun 1. the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats. "a…

A huge WOW! :o Well Done!

Some are put off my the term "starvation mode". It makes a stifled metabolism sound more dramatic than it actually is. Long before you experience the actual symptoms of real starvation, your body ignites its defenses which is just what you mentioned: muscle loss, fat gain and lower calorie burn.

I do plyometric training, because the physiological response seems to be lowered body fat in its adaptation. I am looking for other such training programs as well as whatever your experience has been with like routines. Thanks :)

These lighter competitors you mentioned are guys I can respect, and though bigger may generate TV ratings, for me, no thanks...lol That's glorified sumo wrestling...

A calorie deficit is simple math, and the key is finding your own "zone" of accurate calorie intake vs energy burn. And YES...this works when your calorie estimates are close. :) I had to tweak my numbers to find what eventually translated into effective, steady and lasting results.

I'd see that, as other have pointed out, as "activity"...and surely NOT exercise. :)
