Welcome! Seems like we're in the same boat, as your story sounds similar to my own: slim down + get faster!

You've got a massive team behind you. Welcome to the party, Kerri from Oregon!

Whether you consider beans good for your heart or a the magical fruit, you can't go wrong with them.

Go, mom! So unless they've changed the rules that I made up on the way over here, "on the wagon" is where the cool kids live ... i think. There they brave the treacherous Oregon Trail where they hunt for squirrel, avoid dysentery, and ford rivers without drowning.

Hammer time.

Whichever way you all decide to go, just remember that Brosnan once approved ... just for the taste of it. :)

Just eat the cake.

Give me a mug of almond milk and a box of graham crackers and it's goin' down! The obsession is even worse for me with animal crackers. Stay strong sister @Raegold.

I second the use of a steamer/rice cooker. I like to use my steamer as well; however, I prefer the stove because I can adjust the moisture level on the fly depending on what I'm using the quinoa for (i.e. more dry = veggie burgers vs more moist = served as a side dish). Using the stove, I get the best results cooking…

Funny, I don't know many who use the word, but it has and will probably remain in my vocab. It could be a matter of where one lives in the world. Until well into my 20's (over a decade ago), I lived about 20 minutes from Joe Biden's residence in Delaware. I also know of another friend from the region (north of…

Interesting.

@nancypstoll, there are posts around here where people have added their usernames so that others can connect with them on Garmin Connect. I can't quite get into the competition side of things, but for you, it may provide you with the connections you are looking for. Good luck.…

Like a snowball rolling downhill, you'll be at avalanche status soon enough -- taking out trees and deer in no time. Welcome! Have you had much success since you first joined?

Interestingly, I hadn't heard of hip dips until today. Now that I know what they are, I realized that both me and my wife have them. We both have pretty full/round bottoms and I squat and dead lift like it's going out of style. So despite our shapes, I'd also have to agree with what @sardelsa said ... genetics. I'd be…

I can definitely attest to what @cmriverside said. I struggle with the same thing. Despite having smaller pants and some ab definition, I still feel -- dare I say -- fat. In thinking about those feelings, I think I understand how disorders can develop as a result of weight obsession. I'm sure you won't head down that path,…

I've grown pretty fond of the stove.

Yes, it truly is a great feeling. Great work! A good friend warned about getting too ripped. If you ever get stabbed with a knife, it'll be useless. Stay safe out there, bro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2S7ks4xEc4

I suggest that you put some respek on it.

I like both for different reasons, but I find the treadmill to be tougher. I used to think that the elliptical was a cakewalk until I started jacking up the intensity. I like being able to get my heart rate up w/ the lower impact. Overall, I think it's possible to get a good workout with either. To combat indoor machine…

It's fun to stay at the YMCA.

I've since changed to viviactiv hr. It allows some settings changes. I didn't really get to play with the hr+ I had before. @4legsRbetterthan2, the only activity I do where steps are counted is jumping rope. My guess is that unless you can find a way to disable the step sensor, you'll keep running into the issue you're…

Yup. I'd say that unless you're looking to dial things in to get super lean, go with the suggestions for now. Weight loss will occur as you stick to the plan. Don't for get to treat yourself. I have no clue how this applies to your post. I just wanted to use the gif for something.

Interesting story ... my last doctor was once the medical director for the WWE when it was still WWF (early 2000's). I went to see him for some tendinitis in my chest. I gathered that my form needed tweaking. He mentioned that he was benching well into the 300's and had some experience with such things. He merely told me…

Stretch marks can also be a sign of some serious (muscle) gainz! For those who lift, many will get them where their pecs and deltoids meet.

Great share, @fatvegan88. I used to do the exact same. In addition to my usual meals, my issue was with the oats, bananas, and nuts that I ate tons of daily. Once I was able to see how the calories added up I was able to find my way. Good luck!

This helps me as well. I found that I like to skate and bike. Both let me move around and can be done anywhere. Being able to do what I like while mixing in recreational activity helps keep me motivated.

... was the 1st thing that came to mind. :p
