What @ninerbuff said. Also it would be helpful if you fill out your MFP profile including height, weight and making your nutrition diary visible. Send out friend requests to people who can share info with you on a routine basis. From there you can see what many of us are doing to improve body composition.

Hello, I already posted my story under Success Stories with the heading "50lbs lost (Before and After)" But here is a before n after with a slightly updated after pic to add to this thread. I started at age 54. For the first two years I tracked my nutrition manually. I did not have and app. At one point I overshot my…

Wow that is coincidental! Keep up the momentum 👍

Thank you! Congrats on that first step, every one is forward progress 👍

That's the key right there!! Once you learn the fundamentals for yourself, it's just a matter of time 👍

Thanks Ales!! Your feedback only encourages me more. Greatly appreciated.

😆 Oh yeah! Plenty of slack left over.

I usually break a bad or negative mindset by physically executing on a positive action. If I am scattered, I forget all but one step of one task and execute on it. If I am not feeling motivated, I go for a walk or exersize. If I am eating poorly, I prepare tomorrow's meals today. And so on. Initially it feels like swimming…

Hello! Been there myself. 55+ construction worker (now retired). I found retirement to be the absolute best opportunity to redirect and focus all that work energy into my fitness goals. You have great opportunity ahead 👍.

Beautiful images ! Congrats on continuing a great comeback 👍.

Congrats on your marriage! My spouse and I are coming up on 24 years, many of which I fought ups and downs in weight etc. The wonderful thing about it is having someone who cheers you on but obviously accepts you as you are. It's a foundation full of potential. 💪

I am on a similar trajectory. Trying to gain lean mass. I tried upping carbs recently but went back to fat a few weeks ago for the calorie density and the convenience of it being built in to many of my protein sources.

Congrats! Amazing.

Same here! Overshot my original weight loss goal, got too skinny, started weight training. Tracking helped immensely to bring the weight back up.

Dude, great progress. Weights have been a major catalyst for me too.

Not sure I have direct tips but maybe sharing a bit of my experience will be insightful? Coincidentally I spent approximately 17 years of my adult life eating a vegetarian diet and engaging in cardio as a primary or central part of my exersize. It wasn't until I stumbled across a 1 hour and 45 minute lecture on YT titled…

Oh yes, that's the medicine 👍 The recovery starts in the mind. I stumbled or rather was guided on to that after my neck surgery. I was ill prepared for that one! But then I didn't have advance notice as it was a sudden and acute injury. So to your point, I am reminded not to "catastrophize" about it, much less before I…

While I cannot remember the author, I once had a physical therapist share some quotes with me to the effect of "Healing starts from the inside out and from the head down" and more importantly "An injury will take the same emotional path out of the body as it inflicted on the way into the body" This was fitting as I was…

Hello, what you describe as a "life long struggle with weight" coupled with trying the various nutritional strategies is reminiscent of my own experience. I am curious to know what your take away from each of those approaches was. Did one work better and/or feel better than the other and do you plan to utilize any one of…

Initially (December 2019) I told no one. Two weeks in I shared my plans with my spouse. 90 days in I shared with friends and peers who began to notice and encourage me. 2 years in ( December 2020 or so) I shared with a physician and began sharing info on social media within a closed network. Six to eight weeks ago I put it…

Hello Essance, I can only share with you the process that has worked for me as I managed to burn off 50lbs. I started by entering my age, weight etc. into a bmr calculator. This gave me a starting point or estimate of my base calorie requirements. I then ate below that number, a 3500 calorie per week deficit while logging…

Hello Mirtri, what a great conversation thread, a lot of insight shared here. In my experience self perception can and does improve through the very same level of self awareness your post and the subsequent conversation this thread discusses. I am down 50lbs over the past 2.5 years and at one point actually over shot my…
