  • I echo the shopping on the outside of the grocery. Fresh veggies/fruits are the main things I buy. Spinach, tomatoes, onions, asparagus, carrots, berries and others are the main ones that are in my house. I also keep Kind Bars and Larabar's on hand. They are tasty, help with my sweet tooth and are quick so I don't splurge…
  • Find something you love, like hiking, kickboxing, biking, dancing, etc. I enjoy hiking, martial arts and dancing. So that's what I tend to do for exercise. I also try different things so that I can see if I like it. I find making a commitment helps me to stay motivated and if it's something I don't hate doing then I'm more…
  • For those Interested I'll send you a message. Sorry I was down for the count yesterday, but back in gear after working at the restaurant this morning. Clean eating today wasn't perfect. But I got my shake in the morning and then snacked on cucumbers instead of fries. Score!
  • Ha, 2nd cousin sunsoakeddreamer-I make the groups closed because I don't care for others not doing the group to chime in either. BUT-I understand so no worries!
  • Soggynode-Hang in there. I've had people do that to my husband too when he orders "chick food."
  • I've done a variety of Shaun T's programs and am currently doing Les Mills Combat. Happy to have support and help motivate others too.

  • Happy to help. I've totally been there and now control it much better! Support is key!
  • I have food allergies, so I'm always asking to see ingredients or know how things are made. So----I plan in advance it at all possible. Including calling ahead and seeing if they'll email me ingredient lists. Sometimes if there's a chef they'll make a dish that they know I'll be able to have which is awesome too. For…

  • Anything you do beyond "normal" I'm a server on Friday nights and Sunday morning at a local restaurant (I work a desk job too during the week) and I don't log that running around. However, if I go for an extra run or do an exercise video I log that. Feel free to send me a friend request or check out my dairy if you like.
  • Yep. I've totally been there. BUT-keep going. It evens out after awhile. If you'd like some accountability/motivation shoot me a friend request.
  • Like others. LOTS of water. I actually drink water when I might be hungry and see if that works. Sometimes I'm thirsty, but my brain tells me I'm hungry. Also-I try to eat low calorie foods that are filling so that I stay full longer. I'd be happy to look at your food log if you like
  • So there are pros and cons. I have the flex and I find that it's pretty accurate as far as steps go. Where it fails is when I do exercise videos or something besides walking. I actually take it off then and track differently then so that I get a more accurate view. I think it's a great reminder and I also really like the…
  • I drink a shake (chocolate yum!) daily that is very nutrient dense. Oh and it's actually a powder so I make healthy sweet snacks with it like pudding and oatmeal cookies. It's very versatile and gives me the sweet I want without anything bad that goes along with it :-)
  • So my sister just told me this one. Sauteed Brussel Sprouts with Honey. Delish!
  • Ok-How's everyone doing? I'm thinking that I may start another quick start group on Facebook this next time to be more focused and have more interaction. Anyone interested? We just have to be Facebook friends for me to invite you :-)

  • Just wanted to let you all know that I read through this post today and it made me smile. I love sweets but I'm allergic to corn, so anything with corn syrup, corn starch, even corn on the cob isn't for me. It's interesting to me how many people don't realize it's in so much. Like ketchup...why oh why is there corn syrup…
  • Pasta-since I was asked. This one is very similiar to what I do. I tend not to measure as much these days, but I've been making pasta since I was 10. http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-fresh-pasta-from-scratch-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-73435 How to Make Fresh Pasta from Scratch Print this recipe Fresh Egg Pasta…
  • Thanks everyone. I'm thinking that I really like where this group is headed-so a 10 day Quickstart (hence day 2) but then we can continue on as well :-) Sandra-I'm sorry to hear about your fall, but that's awesome that you've maintained your weight! usherinpresence-Sorry about that. Hopefully the above clarifies that.…

  • Totally this for me as well. I have a lot of health issues and it's not always possible for me to eat things in their natural state. My doc (part of the reason I decided to create the group, told me one of the conditions can worsen with processed foods. SO, I thought that this would help :-)
  • Shojomecha-That's pretty clean! I've never black cherry tomatoes--what do they taste like?

  • That sounds amazing. I'm going to have to try that. I really like this recipe: otal Time: 1 hour 3 min. Prep Time: 10 min. Cooking Time: 8 min. • Excellent ladies. I have a few portion control tips if anyone is interested. It's been one of the things that's been hard for me, but I've figured a few things out.
  • KJW58: Very interesting. Thanks for sharing! ShalaraQ-Yes, I've done the same thing. I haven't tried unbagged Spinach in awhile...thinking I may want to try that again and see how it goes. Yes-Moderation and awareness are key. I doubt that people are able to eat 100% clean all of the time. BUT, it's good to know what we're…
  • I stay mainly to the outside aisles, it helps since it's less processed. Here's a recipe I really like, white fish and salsa. Total Time: 19 min. Prep Time: 10 min. Cooking Time: 9 min. Yield: 4 servings Ingredients: 1 medium red tomato, finely chopped 1 medium yellow tomato, finely chopped 5 fresh basil leaves, chopped 1…
  • That's great. I think moderation is ok. If you're out tell them you have an allergy which is why you want to know the ingredients. You'll see a change happen where you're no longer being "picky" but you have an issue. I found this out the hard way. I like Trader Joe's a lot. the prices aren't bad on a lot of things I find…
  • I roast the tomato's as well. Sometimes there's dextrose or food starch in the cans, which I can't have. I roast them whole and then dice them.
