Great results! Just my thoughts about Chalean Extreme (I did the first 6 weeks)--first, you will need heavy sets of weights to do the program most effectively (either a variety of dumbbells or adjustable dumbbells), which is an expensive investment. Second, you may find chalean extreme to be too easy, especially if you…

If you didn't absorb those 18g of protein, where would they go? Of course you absorb them...if you didn't then people would have a much harder time gaining weight!

I'm a med student (only my first year) and most of the doctors that I've spoken with have said a multivitamin, fish oil, and vitamin D are very important and strongly recommended. Fish oil does wonderful things for your cardiovascular system and your nervous system. Vitamin D is needed for calcium absorption and most…

It doesn't sound like the doctor was very professional (unless you've been seeing the same doc for years and he/she is comfortable to speak to you that bluntly). However, from what you shared, the doctor definitely wasn't encouraging you to get down to 125 pounds. You said you feel your best around 140-145 which is a few…

These are the ones we have: PowerBlock SportBlock 5.0 Unfortunately, they are around $300 depending on where you get them. We were lucky and have a friend that works at a sporting goods store and was able to get the weights with a good discount. It's an investment, but I like working out at home, so the investment was…

I just finished the first phase and I love it so far! However, I tried TurboFire once and really didn't like it, so the two workout programs are definitely very different even though they were created by the same person. The first phase was 3 days/week of heavy lifting (about 10 exercises, 10-12 reps each), 1 day of…

Although this could be true for the OP, I know that I have the same wrist fatigue/pain and I do not have carpal tunnel (23 yo). But going from lifting nothing to lifting 15 to 30 pound dumbbells for a straight half hour or more multiple times a week is a lot for wrists to adjust to!
-
I'm still in Phase 1 and I found that my wrists are pretty weak. My wrists/hands were hurting during the first 2 weeks. Sometimes I actually had to stop the exercises early because my wrists hurt and not the muscle I was supposed to be training. It has gotten better since then. I have been focusing on trying not to grip…

You look fantastic! How long did this weight loss take you? I'd love some pointers about changes you made to lose the weight. I basically have your same starting values (5'6" 160 lbs) and have a similar body shape (I carry a bit more weight in my lower half though). Congrats!

He believes he's around 15% (this is just an estimate based what he knows he's been at before and our scale which we know isn't really accurate. Thanks for the helpful links! I'll pass them onto him and get him researching!

Bump--hoping to catch the attention of a guy with advice to share by bumping this up on the forum list :)

I am astounded by how a few people on these forums act---this is NOT a troll thread. Anyway, this is my good friend (we've been friends for 5 years and are in medical school together) and she really is having these issues and she is looking for support from people who struggle with the same issues. I appreciate those of…

Hello! We are very similar in regards to weight loss goals and experiences---I sent you a friend request. Good luck!

I'm in medical school and we just had a panel of registered dietitians talk to us---and they said cleanses are bogus. As most people are saying, your body has mechanisms for cleansing itself. So save your money and time!

Set mfp up to lose 2 pounds a week and follow the plan....no pills needed and, if you're diligent, you'll meet your goal.

Didn't notice this post until today! Starting weight 152.8 Current weight 152.8...literally didn't change....I ate DQ ice cream multiple days.... Calories burned 3000 Challenge Completed No

I have no opinion about "starvation mode" persay, but I do know that you need to eat a certain amount to lose weight in a healthy manner. 1200 might be the magic number for some people, but it's not one-size-fits-all. Just because Jillian says something doesn't make it the truth. And this is coming from a Jillian fan--I…

Hi! I'm Ally. Stats: 5'7", 152.8 lbs, 22 years old, GW 139. I have been happily married for one year to the man of my dreams who I met when I was 17. I just graduated with a bachelors degree in biology and I start medical school this fall. As of now, I work in a research lab. I started on MFP in December--exercising is…

If you have a spot available, I would be interested. I'm on here all the time! Thanks :)

I am on multiple times a day I log daily (about 180 days so far), but be forewarned that I still struggle with my food consumption, so I'm not a very "clean" eater persay. I have about 15 pounds to lose. I feel like I need to make the same type of disclaimer as the guy who pointed out his pizza and nutella intake haha.…

This is a great idea---especially with all these ridiculous "I like girls..." threads going on the past couple days. I like the overall shape of my body--I have a good sized chest, smaller waist, and good baby-bearing hips. I appreciate that I am proportional :)

I agree! I'm a little shorter than you (5'7"), so my goal weight is 135-140ish (have about 15-18 lbs to go). I'm definitely similarly shaped--broader shoulders, hippy, etc. I log everyday and keep my friends list short, so I should be a good motivating friend. I'll add you!

For me--definitely lungs! Steady breathing is so hard for me, but my legs feel fine normally.

Hey! Honestly, I started phase one and I was bored. I also had many other fitness opportunities (student wellness center pass, group fitness, personal training, etc.), so I just focused on those instead. I still plan on doing the program, but I think I'll skip phase 1 and go right into phase 2. Maybe this winter. Honestly,…
