I've been having a 24 hour carb window each week on the advice on my trainer as I'm exercising pretty intensely. It isn't stopping me losing so far but it is still early days.

I'm only a few weeks in but I've found the more water I drink the more I lose, its that simple so far. So I've set my alarm to beep on the hour and each hour I just glug down the water.

Hello!

Why - it seems to work for a lot of people...

She can lose weight just by changing her diet. She doesn't need to exercise yet, in fact it might not be the best idea to exercise until she has lost some weight, depending on the health issues. I'd advise that she enter her details into MFP and follow their recommendations for at least a month and see where that gets her.…

I wasn't losing weight until I switched to minimum 65% fat. Now 5lbs gone in 2 weeks. I'm sticking with it. I get carbs once a week - I can live with that.
-
I've lost 1kg (2.2 lbs) this week. I'm feeling bloomin' incredible.
-
Me! Doing CKD. Two weeks in. Most days around 20-30g carbs - one day a week higher. I've finally broken a 6 month period of gaining. :-) I feel more energetic than ever.
-
Do people really use the word "spastic" like that still? Sigh.

Different strokes for different folks. For example some people lose weight on Mirena - I gained 14 lbs in 3 weeks. ho hum.

In your second week your muscles will still be swollen from being used in ways they aren't used to. This accounts for any increase in size - just water. You do need to make sure your diet is on point though, it doesn't matter how much exercise you do or how much muscle you build - you have to burn the fat on top of that…

Incredible and wow - you have amazing bone structure. Jealous.

I do this too, so glad I found this post as it seems most people get it the other way round. :-)
-
Oh yes indeed.

Last year I spent 6-8 weeks each eating at 1200, 1500, 1800 and 2000 and stayed the same weight at all calories levels except 2000 where I gained. I tried most of this month back at 1200 as I wanted to try MFP recommendations again, see if I was going mad... and again stayed the same. Thus, I don't think the 1200 was "too…

The Mirena made me gain about 14lbs in a matter of weeks. Evil thing. I'm going back to basics and using condoms. i hate them but i hate feeling fat more.

I disagree that lowering carbs has no effect, after a year of trying various other options I've found ketogenic dieting and it seems to work for me. Its only been a week though so I will probably be proved wrong. Still, it is the first time the scale has moved down more than 1/2lb in a year, so right now I'm happy. I know…

Well done for giving that up! I'm really impressed.
-
I gave up last month - apart from two nights (i'm extending my dryathlon to make up for it) I do think it helped but it took a month to kick in, be patient.
-
I take my tea very dark and without sugar. there is hope for me yet. ;-)
-
I'm working on this myself and the general consensus seems to be lift heavy weights and cut carbs. Ab exercises aren't a great deal of use until you have got rid of the fat on top.
-
No tea? Why no tea? *has a very English panic*
-
your calorie goal is under your TDEE. Do you know your TDEE? you can eat anything under that and still lose weight.
-
This. Completely.
-
move faster, push harder, try real push ups, use heavier weights. All exercise is about how much you put in. you don't have to go the same speed as they do on the video.
-
Same here!

Yo, thank you for that last message - I love how you are taking the criticism on the chin and coming out of this as the better person. I'd really love to get some more details on your diet and how I can apply in to my needs. If you or Matt would be willing to give me some advice sometime I'd be eternally grateful. Either…

Yes please. Any on what weights she does what days - the split please. apologies if I'm just not getting it. :-S

Thank you for this.
