    Ha ha GOLD
  • Do any of you watch porn expecting to see an Oscar winner? Then again....Those of you that didn't like the book probably think porn is awful as well! lol :flowerforyou:

    Lighten up people! :drinker:

I love porn. Give me porn and I am happy for hours! 50 shades was not porn. 50 shades was a whiny little girl who got together with a total d1ckhead of a wanna-be man and the books are the story of their sexual escapades.

Then again, I guess maybe my expectations were just way too high :grumble:

    I agree.
I am an avid fan of erotica material. But all 50 shades did for me was make me wanna puke. Their sexual escapades weren't really that spectacular. I've read better sex scenes in soft porn books.

I haven't read it- and will not, but heard it's basically sex? I don't get the fuss? I guess the readers must have a boring (or non-existent) sex life, or have never read an erotica book.

Oh, and this clip is comedy gold as well - if only to hear Pat Robertson say "Mommy Porn":

I got to the middle of the second book. I'm actually a big fan of literary erotica, but this wasn't very well written IMO, and I definitely could tell it was twilight fanfic without being told. I like BDSM, and the main character having issues with his own kink didn't bother me so much as I didn't believe that Ana and Christian felt anything for each other besides lust. If you're going to write a romance/erotica novel, the romance can't fall flat.

It was just kind of... meh.

If you like this kind of stuff, check out an author called Justine Elyot. She has a free novel available online called Lecture Notes which is basically a better written, more believable version of Fifty Shades of Grey- It came out like 4 years ago.

    No. Just...no.

If you want some decent well-written erotica, go with Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty series.

I read all three. They were ok. Entertaining and a quick easy read.

My question for all of you who hated it: what are you reading or have you read that is so much better? What am I missing?

I heard a lot of things about the book too. But I read it and know half of what people say isn't true.
I loved it and read it a couple times.

No, it's not basically sex. It's a love story with more sex then your average romance novel.
Stop reading reviews writeen by people who didn't read the book either.

I could read the entire series over and over and over. I have heard there will be a movie as well--Ryan Gosling to portray Christian, but then again, that's just hearsay--But I hope it's true

actually i heard it might be Ian Sommerhalder who is going to play Christian

Worst books ever written. Disgusted that a reputable publishing company boubd and sold them.

Terrible writing, barely any real plot, inconsistent and glorification of an abusive relationship between two insecure, shallow characters.

I have nothing good to say about this series.

Every book ever published in the history of the world is better.

I've heard it's basically bored housewife "porn", and not at all based on anything that realistically resembles true BDSM or D/s... also, it was written as a fanfic spinoff of Twilight. I won't be reading it.

    This. Thank you.

And if Henry Cavill decides to accept a role in the movie, I am divorcing him.

Reading the book for the second time. I don't know how they're going to make a movie out of it though. It's just too graphic and if they cut out the graphic parts then I'm sure that's just gonna make the book better.

ugh, couldn't get through it...maybe if it had been written by someone who could write above a 3rd grade level...or who had an emotional maturity above a 2nd grader....naw, I don't get into torture...and frankly there is nothing sexy about a guy yanking out a tampon...EVER.

    pass.
