  • He wasn't close at the time. :-) We lived on opposite coasts, he moved out here last year. It was actually a huge stretch for me, it was never how I imagined I'd meet someone. But the connection was so great I had to take the chance.... turned out to be the best chance I've ever taken!
  • :-) in 128 days I will MARRY someone I met here on MFP!
  • Are you cutting sodium by chance? That can sometime do it. Hydration is another key issue. Also... flexibility and overall muscle tone. I get leg cramps and it's because I have chronically tight muscles. A really good stretching routine could help!
  • I tried the "no poo" method with Baking Soda. Gave it a good shot so my scalp could acclimate. After three months my hair was FRIED!! I don't shampoo everyday, and I use gentle/natural stuff... but just not washing... not for me thanks!
  • Congratulations!!! That is a major milestone! :-) Keep at it, there's more to come!!
  • This is just simply not true. I would say mix it up, for varieties sake. But iceberg is not "devoid" of nutrtion. 1 cup serving has: 1 g of protein 1 g of fiber 7% of recommended vitamin A 3% of vitamin C 2% of Iron Romaine is higher in the vitamins and minerals, but exactly the same in protein and fiber. Depends what…
  • Was going to say this exact same thing! I'm saddened by how many people are willing to just say "give up" or "he's a jerk" or something. He lost his job, and it probably dealing with a lot of his own insecurity. It would be GREAT if you could find your voice and advocate for yourself and your needs, but it sounds like he…
  • I want one!!
  • I'm sorry you're struggling. It is hard to feel like you're doing something, and not see results. My only thoughts, other than to just say "keep going!" is to touch on one point you made. You said you refuse to become someone who is obsessed with fitness and nutrition. That makes sense, and I've always approached this…
  • If it's not broad daylight, or I'm going where there's fewer people, I carry pepper spray.
  • Have you tried a dry shampoo that you spray in? I workout hard, and have the same problem, my hair is shorter (almost to my shoulders) but I still try to only wash my hair every other day. I also make sure that I put my hair up, but not in a ponytail (which leaves those creases) I twist it up and use a clip or hairpins.…
  • Did it. Loved/hated it! I hated parts of it while I was doing it, because it required me to really push myself, which I now LOVE about it. It helped me discover my love for running. Started not even being able to run for a full minute. I recently completed my first half marathon! It's a GREAT way to get started. My word of…
  • Congratulations!! You say you "may become a runner yet?" You just ran half a mile... you ARE a runner!! When I started a little over a year ago, I couldn't run for one minute without getting too winded. In January I ran my first half marathon. If I can do it, you can! Keep going!! You're doing great!!!
  • The brightly colored ones (Red, Orange and Yellow) will be sweeter than the green. I agree that grilling them might make them tastier. Also roasting them so that the outer flesh comes off and you can puree the sweeter "meat" of the pepper into all kinds of delicious sauces. I don't have any specific recipes, I usually wing…
  • It is always ok to make boundaries for yourself. Period. If you don't feel safe or comfortable with her, then you are wise to steer clear.
  • 52 calories still puts you at a deficit for the day! Give yourself grace, breath deep, and keep going!!!
  • I had a similar letdown, but I had only made it to like 200 days... but then I changed my settings so I don't it doesn't post the "has logged on for "xyz" days" anymore. I realize I didn't need that affirmation, and I didn't want to have it hanging over my head anymore. Good luck on getting the motivation back!!
  • Started at a 26, now at 12... almost a 10 (but just not quite yet!) You'll get there!!
  • Congratulations!!! It's great when you get to see dedication pay off big like that! Keep it up, you're doing great!!!
  • WAIT! Don't be discouraged!! You might still be the same cup size! The amount of fabric used to make a cup is proportional to the band size. So the amount of fabric on 44C is a lot more than a 38C. Which is exactly what I found out. I was wearing 42/44C and the cups were half empty! So I went in and had myself measured,…
  • If you don't weigh everyday, and maybe go just once a week instead, it won't feel like such minuscule progress. That's my 2 cents
  • Absolutely this. You're hungry because you're burning most of what your body needs to just function, by doing exercise. Listen to your body!!! Purging a "little bit"... is still purging. That's a slippery slope. I noticed your profile picture too (as someone else commented). Healthy dedication means giving your body the…
  • Totally stealing ALL of these!!
  • I started at 258, and now I'm 186. I'd say we're "weight loss twins"... but I'm only 5'4", lol. Still got 45 ish lbs to go for me. But you look AMAZING great work!!!!
  • I've never done WW. I count them, but since they tend to be really filling it doesn't take much "calorie-wise" to pack a punch.
  • Wow! Major jerk move!! I wouldn't put up with that if I were you. If he's not supportive, then eventually he will be a hindrance to your goals. Right now his passivity might not seem like a detriment to your success... but left to grow over time, it will. If he can't support you in something you're excited about now, he…
  • All of what's been said so far is good stuff! In terms of using MFP, my standard warning is that there are people on all sides of every issue/question. Find what works for YOU and go with it! The other thing I'd mention is that connecting to encouraging and supportive people has been helpful for me. The accountability…
  • You're golden! Seriously!! Keep at it!!! I've completed the C25K, and I'm now training for my first half marathon (in Disneyland, eeee!) I'm not much faster than that. In fact. I still run right about 5mph, my walking has sped up a bit, but that's all. The only time to be concerned with speed is if you WANT to go faster.…
  • To get a real accurate count, you'd want to wear a heart rate monitor. There are entries in the database for walking carrying a 15lb load (or an infant), or moving household items, etc. Maybe that? Personally I would figure conservatively in terms of time, but that's just me. Good luck!
