One of these days I'll stick with my intent to check in here daily again. Really. Nicole, I was so excited to see your posts in my news feed again! (I do check it, but don't often post myself much these days.) Glad to hear things are getting back to "normal" for you. Karen, sounds like a wonderful vacation, and SO cool…

Another late-day drive-by. I haven't gotten back into the habit of reading this thread daily, as much as I enjoy it and all of you. Doing it now to help me wind down (super busy night at work -- and I'm here all night) and reconnect. Blew right through the dinner hour with no food, so come 10:15 PM I was starving. Ordered…

Hi all, like some other folks I'm wandering back in after an absence. I don't recall any longer, but I think it was May when I was here last. And I was talking about getting yelled at by my trainer for not committing to healthy eating (he's right), with a trip coming up. Welllll.... the trip went great. The eating didn't,…

@ Marsha, no worries about the fluid gain. Any time we do surgery-type things to our bodies, we retain fluid. And the surgeons add fluid during procedures. It takes 2-3 weeks to lose it all. No, you did not gain 10 (or even 5) lbs of fat! Glad the procedure was a success! @ Toots, there's a lot that's mental. Doesn't help…

So I got the "come to Jesus" talk from my trainer today. Also known as, "You're doing a fairly small percent of what you should be if you really want to see change. You CAN do more. Get on it." I'm doing this intellectualizing thing as he's talking (I'll take defense mechanisms for $800, Alex): noticing the motivational…

Awesome thread. Would love to see more examples of guys made over, too.

Popping in... was on a small vacay last weekend (Thursday-Sunday) and had a ball, AND didn't log and paid no attention whatsoever to calories. So as much as I'd like to join the May challenge, with a 2 week trip to California in the middle of May, I think my goal is to not gain. Hugs to all, now off to read…

Hi all! Got sidetracked this week with logging (missed a day last weekend) and reading. Overall, not a great week, and a particularly bad day or two yesterday and today. Lots of travel and other temptations in the next two months. Just trying not to gain any more!

@karen: great job with the run! And hooray for breaking even on taxes! And yes, I'm working on a really cute kimono-style jacket. It's one of those free patterns they put up at the craft store; I picked it up a couple of years ago and was considering converting it to crochet. But now I can just do the knit pattern, though…

Okay, behind on personals, so here I go: @ebailey: glad to hear your sis is doing okay. You may need to hold her down a bit until her body recovers from surgery (takes longer than one thinks). As others have said, cancer is rare, but it still sucks. @tina: awesome job on the workouts! The Nike one you listed looks similar…

MowMow is adorable! I think my kitty would resist stroller rides, especially since my girls wold do most of the pushing! Great job to the ladies posting losses and success fitting high-cal foods into their allowances. Truth: I actually ran today. Usually when the trainer barks at us to sprint to a building across…

I so want to do a huge post full of personals tonight. Too bad I can hardly keep my eyes open! So just a few, then: Tina, have fun with clinicals, and great work getting back on the wagon! To the new members, welcome!! Logging is such a great learning tool. I used to wonder how I kept gaining weight. Felt…

Marsha and others who haven't been doing so great lately... HUGS to all of you. I keep thinking I must have posted this weekend, though I obviously didn't. Intended to. Ah well. In the Good News department, I actually got more than 8 hours of sleep for 2 straight nights (yay, hubby and kids, for letting me). I went…

Man, I'm tired. Too many late nights and early mornings! And today was Death By Meeting. (As in, no breaks from meetings, all day. Even a lunch meeting. Yikes!) Welcome to the new folks! I wandered away long enough that I just realized I haven't seen helenatrandom. She okay? Truth: tomorrow is my first appointment with a…

Just a drive-by tonight. Watched The Talented Mr. Ripley for the first time in years. Probably since it came out. It's still a pretty discomfiting film. Good workout tonight, but not great dinner choice. I still need to work on eating out without having crazy portions or calories. Which, I guess, will be my Wed Wish: I…

Hey all, sorry to disappear like that. I was on call on Saturday, Sunday was busy, and Monday was TV time with the hubby (who is not working at all hours for the first time in 2 months). @ lin: congratulations!! That's amazing news! You've worked hard, you deserve to crow about the results! @ Karen: late to the party, but…

When I'm on the wagon, I allow myself to do what you did: small amount of cake or ice cream, but try to make healthy choices otherwise. And for myself, I find that if I keep my carb intake low enough (below 200g/day), I don't crave that stuff as much. TOM is always a challenge, so you can try to satisfy that craving with…

Hey all, today was Anti-Friday Fitness. Brought snacks for a 4-hour work team meeting and had WAAAY too much in terms of junky calories and caffeine. Bleah. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 75 and sunny. Naturally, I'll be at work for a 24-hour shift. I still need to decide what my answer to comfort food cravings will be.…

Hugh Jackman, Matt Bomer, and (bizarrely, as I don't usually go for blondes) Daniel Craig. @ contrarian: I can be superficially attracted to someone but rapidly lose interest if they lack actual talent or turn out to be a jacka$$. Does that make me a mild SAD case?

Hey all, late nite for me. Getting my hair done and then had to do a bit of shopping for snack foods and breakfast stuff. @Karen, ITA about brides making such a big deal out of themselves. For any wedding, really. It is completely unreasonable to solicit 4 gifts and have your guests and attendants pay through the nose to…

@jsiricos: these days, they get your butt out of bed within hours. (They did me, at any rate.) I've had 2 sections, both through the same scar. How yours will look depends on several factors: 1. How good a surgeon your doc is. My first was better than my second when it comes to stitching, but the scar looks pretty decent,…

You mentioned eating a proper dinner first, which is a good thing, but make sure it's not all protein or too low in calories. Get some whole grains in there, and maybe some fruit for short-term energy. And then do your workout no more than an hour or so later. It may also just be the wrong time of day for you. Example: I'm…

Wow, looks like I'm not the only one who missed checking in yesterday, but today made up for it. @Robin, I do hope that, with the help of your shrink and your loved ones, you climb back up. Agreed with whoever suggested knitting; I crochet, and find that I don't snack when I'm working on something. @Karen, chasing…

Hi folks, Robin, I get my best cleaning done when I'm having company too. Stay strong with the donuts! Karenleona, there really should be cleaning fairies. Whitecapwendy: welcome! Don't fret about the weigh-in. It will likely be high but if you indulged, chances are you're carrying around some extra water. Get right…

Hey all! Welcome to the new folks! I'll throw out a Sunday Share: I'm Sara, and I also live in Oregon with my husband and two daughters. I work as a psychiatrist in a hospital, so you may see me talk about being "on call", which means I'm working in-hospital for 24 hours (more if the following day is M-F). I get sleep on…

Strong work! What a great post, thank you so much for sharing!

I'm on call today, so this will be quick. Saturday success: I made it up AND down a flight of stairs without using my hands on the rails! Legs still hurt, so I count that a victory. I've done some extra walking around the hospital to get my muscles to warm up, which seems to have helped as well. My other success is that…

Hey all, welcome to the new folks! Gorilla, that's a seriously packed schedule. I'm impressed. Jconst, I'm like you. I need to see the far horizon to keep me going at it hard. Well, I ate out twice today and did well with one and not so well with the other. And no exercise today because (as anticipated) my legs are so sore…

Hey all, too late for personals tonight. I've been booking my hotel for the conference I'll be attending in May (in San Francisco, one of my favorite cities to visit). Bringing the family along, and OMG, the hotel prices are mind-boggling. I felt like I was doing well to pay ONLY $300 a night. (sigh) But I can't wait for…

Hi all! Robin, my "everyday" chocolate is Ghirardelli chocolate squares. I like the dark chocolate with caramel & sea salt a lot, but even the dark chocolate squares are great. I just can't limit myself to one (70 cals each). When I feel like splurging, it's Godiva truffles. The kind that come in the box, not the…
