@kaye--It's the same every year--I spend my entire spring break grading. I have friends who jet off to warm beaches, but they are rarely English teachers. It's all good though--I chose my major. I always remind myself that I'm still better off than if I'd had to grade all of these papers AND work all week. Hope you enjoy having your family in town.

AFM--I finished the AP essays and entered all of my grades, so 3rd quarter is in the bag. Now I just need to finish 24 Junior Research Papers--they will be the 1st grade of 4th quarter, so if for some reason I don't get them all done by Monday, it's no tragedy. However, I would like to go back next week with a clean plate so I will try my best to get them done.

In addition to all of the grading, I took my car for emissions testing--it passed (phew!). It's 10 years old and I was suspecting an exhaust leak, but apparently it's fine. This is good b/c I need this car to last at least one more year--I am foregoing a new car to take my trip to Zurich this summer. Although I'm prepared to put a bit of money into maintenance, the less I have to spend on it the better.

One chore I haven't gotten to this break is doing my taxes, but I still have 2 weeks, so grading takes priority.

    Grading Goals:
    1. 33/57 JRPs
    2. 47/47 AP essays DONE!!!

I'm hoping one of you can help me. An MFP friend has asked to see my food diary. I don't know how to open it up for others to see. Thank you. Kaye

Hey all, today was Anti-Friday Fitness. Brought snacks for a 4-hour work team meeting and had WAAAY too much in terms of junky calories and caffeine. Bleah.

Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 75 and sunny. Naturally, I'll be at work for a 24-hour shift.

I still need to decide what my answer to comfort food cravings will be. Need to figure it out for days like today! if I have time tomorrow, I'll post some ideas. I may go with my gratitude journaling idea, but will probably settle on one or two more things.

From "my home" click on "settings" (top right of screen, just underneath apps and community). Click on "Diary Settings." Scroll all the way down to "Diary Sharing" and choose the setting you'd like. I have mine set at "friends only"--that way my friends can look, but the general public cannot.

Well it's late -- or early  -- and I'm headed to bed, but wanted to get on here and put my game plan down. I've had a week that I didn't get anything (exercise wise) done and my diet was a yo-yo. So, here's to a new week and a new plan:

Food: I ordered from Bountiful Baskets this week and pick up my first order tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it has lots of good fruits and vegetables and gives me inspiration for some healthy snacks/meals. My sister in law has been using it for quite a while and her diet has improved with healthy steps. Easter Sunday -- I'm just going to give it to God -- we are doing a Easter Buffet and I'm going to make mostly healthy choices. The good thing about that -- no leftovers to be tempted by!! :blushing:

Exercise: I read somewhere that you should try mixing things up at 6-10 weeks. There might just be merit to that since I've been horrible about my exercise lately. So, I'm starting a C25K program this week and going to try something new. Between my daughter and I, we have 3 doctor appointments (I turn 40 soon so it's a regularly scheduled check up for me :frown: ), a massage (my reward for the loss of 20 pounds), choir practice and a 1st grade music program so I'm trying to sneak in workouts during lunch hours and later in the evening.

    Saturday: Week One Day One
Sunday: Happy Easter (walk after brunch??)
    Monday: Video on line (???)
    Tuesday: Week One Day Two
    Wednesday: Weights / Cardio
    Thursday: Rest
    Friday: Week One Day Three

@ skinnyjeans: I have a hard time with gifts for 2nd+ marriages and big showers for multiple children (especially the ones that sell everything only to have a planned pregnancy a year later!!) I think those of us that have been married for a while should get a shower -- most of my gifts are worn out (17 years!! )
@Karen - I've only gotten to cruise in Alaska and that was a wonderful experience. My husband has said the next cruise will be someplace warm. When I get the body I'm working towards, I won't mind the swimsuit that would be needed
@kah68: Love it when others notice your hard work. Great job!
@Morgan: Welcome back. Glad you are feeling better.

Saturday: I went down a size!! I went shopping for a new top for Easter and was happy to find that I went down a size at Lane Bryant. Still not a big enough difference that I can't wear my old clothes, but it was fun to get the smaller size for my one new thing right now. :flowerforyou:

Sorry I've been AWOL most of the week. Appointments for hubby (I'm the official wheelchair pusher and tattletale) and me, and various commitments kept me away. Been so tired I've fallen asleep in front of TV several times. Can't tell you what I've watched all week!

Sorry to hear about struggles some of you are slogging through. As Frasier said, "I'm listening." Really, and wish I could reach out through this site to give you a cyber (((HUG))).

I was a good "girl" and waited until Monday to hit the gym--actually went 3 times so far. Scary, as far as the blood clot thing is concerned, but so far so good (translation: I'm still here!).

Like a couple of you, I'm struggling with what's going in my MOUTH! And, I've been terrible about logging it. (Mostly embarassed.) So today I'm going to be more consistent and forthright about my diary. Please, Easter Bunny, STAY AWAY from my house. It doesn't help when I've got to plan a gourmet feast for tomorrow (son and girlfriend I've never met coming to dinner).

Some of you list daily/weekly goals in your posts and I think I may start doing this to make me more accountable. So here goes:

Saturday: 30 min. of modified cardio, prep. for tomorrow's feast
Sunday: Easter--last minute prep. and cooking, church, rest (ha!)
Monday: 30 min. cardio, 30 min. weight training, begin/ponder April Fool's challenge, plan this week's healthy din. menu
Tuesday: 30 min. of cardio, shop for healthy menu and do prep.
Wednesday: 30 min. cardio, 30 min. weight training, mid-week cleaning
    Thursday: 30 min. cardio
Friday: Church volunteer a.m., 30 min. cardio, 30 min. weight training

Let's see if I can stick to it. Have a "springy" day, everyone!

Well I didn't exactly run yesterday, but after lunch, I went for a walk around the neighborhood with my friend. Rob wanted to go look for a few things at the mall, so we had dinner there and walked around for a while. Some people just wander the mall, but our favorite stores just happen to be in all opposite wings, so we go wandering anyway regardless.

Trying to find a good recipe to make for Easter tomorrow. I imagine someone is already making deviled eggs, and I didn't want to do those anyway. I want to find a good healthy recipe. We will be spending it with hubby's family, who makes the best ham.

I have decided I will no longer be doing the Komen 5k, but I will still train for The Color Run which will be in July.

I felt so accomplished yesterday hitting my 10 pounds this week, and going for a walk instead of sitting around even if I missed my run.

Glad it's Friday. It's been an up and down week. I keep thinking if part of me wants to lose the weight so badly what part of me is holding me back. Carbs make my weight loss much harder. I have tried to limit my carbs but that wasn't so successful yestereday. Does anyone have any good information or know of medicine for fibromylagia. I am going to a specialist but not for a couple of weeks. My family physician is pretty sure that's what I have. Pretty sore or in my pain, but trying to keep going. Everyone have a great weekend.

I was told I had fibro a looooong time ago and was given a muscle relaxer and told to take analgesics as needed. Otherwise, lots of exercise and lose weight. Not particularly helpful advice when you're so sore and tired you can barely get through the day!

I'd recommend joining the fibromyalgia groups here on MFP. I don't post much but I like to read what others with fibro are posting. It's also a good place to ask questions. The group I'm in right now is "Fitness With Fibromyalgia" but I know there's one discussion thread in that group on Medications for Fibro.

    Best wishes to you.

    Lin

    Saturday success stories--

This week I have upped my physical activitys and now have a plan for those yucky days that I cannot get outside for exercise. I realize that it is supposed to be non-scale success, but finally getting off that 32 pound loss plateau and losing that 1.2 lbs really made my week.

someone else listed their weekly plans, so I will do the same

Saturday: 45 minute walk, grocery shop, laundry, Bible study
Sunday: church, walk, Bible study, fitness video (weather is supposed to be wet--may replace walk)
Monday: work, either treadmill or fitness video
Tuesday: work, 45 minute walk (weather permitting), and/or fitness video
    Wednesday: work, 45 minute walk
Thursday: fitness video, work 4 hour day, fitness video
Friday: work 12 hour day, fitness video.

    hmm, pretty boring life, huh?

We have another beautiful spring day, and are getting the bicycles out. Running will have to wait. :) I'd much rather ride.

Saturday Success: I have found a way to fit exercise into my daily activities. I feel more active, and am starting to feel healthier and happier. Since I gave myself until July to be ready for this 5K instead of April, I feel less stressed of not being ready to go. I will be repeating week 4 next week anyway, because it about killed me the 2 times I did it this week.

Happy Saturday everyone. The house is opened wide and filled with fresh air and wonderful sunshine. I have been in the best mood the last couple days and am enjoying every second of it. My husband and I went out to dinner and then we went and played some cards at the casino. He one almost eight hundred dollars which was phenomonal:bigsmile: We went out today and let the casino buy him an electric guitar and a small amp and then they got me a paid three month membership to the Y. Yep time to start exercising with the big kids:laugh: I have been wanting to do this for about a month but wanted to make sure exercising was really becoming a habit and not just a short phase before I started paying gym fees. My daughter is planning on going down with me this afternoon and getting added so she can play too. I am having to be stern with myself on staying off the scale until Monday. I have been very good this week and am really hoping this plateau has gone bye bye. Well I have to get back outside. Have a great day everyone and stay hydrated :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

    Saturday Success:
I ran outside for the 1st time since fall, and I shaved about 4 minutes off my average time on my usual route. I run a loop through my neighborhood that is just shy of 1.5 miles. I run it once with gunner and then I drop him at home and run the 2nd loop solo. In the fall it would take me 18 minutes with gunner and about 16 on my own. Today it took 16 with gunner and 14 on my own. I guess the treadmill work all winter paid off!

I'm not quite done with my JRPs--15 remaining. I may do a few more tonight--it's really hard for me to concentrate at home, so we'll see. I will also go grade for a couple of hours tomorrow morning before going to my mom's for Easter dinner.

    Grading goals:
    1. 42/57 Junior Research Papers

Just checking in. Except for the gym this morning I've been studying all day for a certification exam coming up - getting ready to gear-down and relax rest of the evening I think. My brain feels a little fried!

@Tammy~Hooray for your DH winning that dough and for joining the Y!
@Karen~Yay, for shaving off your time a bit more!

I know I haven't done personals in ages, I'm sorry but rest assured that I see everything and I'm cheering for those who are doing great and praying for those who are struggling.

Busy busy busy day. The weather broke here and it's sunny and mid 70s so this morning when I got my mail I noticed it had a little Easter gift in it from my mom.... so I walked over to the bank to deposit it... down to the drug store to get my meds....over to the grocery store to pick up some fresh fruit/veg(since i had a bit of extra cash).... back home. A nice little 3 mile square with my little wheelie cart.

I haven't seen any fleas or flea dirt BUT both cats have been scratching a lot and acting like they have fleas so the rest of today was spent washing EVERYTHING that fit in the washer from my pillows to my shower curtain. Then I wiped down every hard surface with disinfectant and stuck everything in the dishwasher that would fit (utensil holders, stove top drip pans, fridge shelves, etc) and THEN I vacuumed and steam cleaned the upholstery on the couch/airmchair. Final step was vacuuming the carpet really really really really really really well and using the wand in every crack and crevice I saw. Oh, then I emptied the vacuum and ran all the trash down (so any fleas in the canister couldn't make the great escape back into the apartment). On my way to the trash my elderly downstairs neighbors were moving some boxes into their apartment and since they don't seem to ever have anyone to help them and they've had to move slowly over the past two months I stopped to help them drag their stuff in and then took out their trash then took their little dog for a short walk (he's pretty fat and got tired fast, I had to carry him home).

I set up my furniture a bit differently in the summer so I moved it all around today(which was probably really premature, but it was too beautiful not take advantage of the day). I feel like I've gotten a pretty solid workout today...which is good because I had homemade sausage and cheese biscuits for breakfast, lunch, and then roast beef with mashed taters for dinner .... in between each meal were bits of easter chocolates my lovely neighbors left for me.

Through all this my boys (cats) spent the day going from open window to open window and wallowing in sunbeams.

@kris--your post was a good reminder that I need to start gunner's Frontline again--thanks!

@tammy--that's awesome about your hubby's winnings and that you now have a Y membership! :drinker:

I didn't get to any more essays, but I don't have to be at my mom's until around 3 tomorrow, so I will have some time to grade beforehand. Not how I really wanted to spend my last day of break, but I'll feel better if I just get it done.

Not sure how busy tomorrow will be, so I'll go early with my...

My name is Karen and I've been a member if Robin's group since July 2011 and have been on MFP since March 2011. I'm from Chicago, but currently work and live in the northern suburbs. My husband and I just celebrated our 15th anniversary on Thursday, though we've been together for 23 years (I was just a baby when we started dating  ). We have no children (I get enough of them at work!), but we have one sweet 100 lb "lap" dog, Gunner. He's a 7 y/o boxer/shepherd mix who we rescued when he was about a year and a half.

My big "share" this week is that I've taken a step to quit smoking. I followed garetie and morgori's lead and switched to an electronic cigarette. I haven't had a real cig since Monday, and I honestly don't miss it a bit. I'm nervous that that means I will just be trading one addiction for another, but I guess time will tell. I honestly don't enjoy using the e-cig as much as I did smoking, so I hope that means it will be easier to give up down the road. My current plan is to use the e-cig less and less over the next 2 months. Then, when I get out of school in June, I will quit that "cold turkey." Right now, I'm using it with about the same frequency as I would smoke, but as I go back to work this week, I am going to make a conscious effort to use it less. My ultimate goal is to be nicotine-free well before I go on my trip to Zurich in July.

    Sunday Share:

My name is Wendy, and I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am 54 years old and have struggled with my weight my whole life. I grew up on the east side of Michigan (Burton near Flint), went to college in Minnesota, taught in Missouri, moved back to Michigan and lived "up north" in Frankfort for a while before moving to Grand Rapids. I currently work in a nursing home doing 250 pounds of laundry a day and occasionally filling in at the receptionist desk.. My life outside of work is busy with teaching Sunday School and children in a Bible Study during the week. I also enjoy watching baseball and photography. I live with two other housemates in a house one of my housemates owns. They share the upstairs and I have a small apartment in the basement. I think of it as having the best of both worlds: Having housemates and the quiet of living on my own.
