Hi! Another chiari gal here. Mine isn't severe enough for surgery (yet) but I know that keeping my weight down hurts with back and neck pain, and like bhouston33 I can't do a lot of jumping or anything like that. Foodwise I just stick to whole and healthy foods and try to keep my weight down because my problems are really…

In college I used to love tomatoes and cottage cheese or green peppers and cottage cheese, so maybe I should bring those back into the lunch rotation!
-
Those sound really yummy doubleduofa! thanks for the suggestions!

aroundthemulb, I know. I'm trying to get away from them, but they are my fall back lunch. I never bought the pre packaged ones, just made ones from plain fat free yogurt, frozen mixed fruit, and a banana. But bananas have like 20 grams of sugar in them alone, so they were always high in sugar. Gotta move away from them.

you guys are awesome. As some pointed out, yes, i gotta eat more veggies, I just suck at that. I don't want to go too low carb because I'd like to do another triathlon in the spring and I just become a raging b#$%h when i cut out carbs completely. I'm not a huge fan of salads, but I can eat them if I have to, haha. The…

Thanks everyone, I downloaded samples of both books onto my nook so I'll see which one works better for me. Thanks again!

bump - clean eating myself, and would love some new ideas!

You look awesome! Thanks for the inspiration this morning.

I ran my first in October 2010 in a 3:09 time, and my second in October 2011 and got it down to 2:58. I used the free program at halhigdon.com, ran as much as I could outside and just took it slow. My motto is always "just finish baby!" So I'm not that fast, but I don't walk and I just finish. Good luck to you!

I've been logging food for about a year and a half, and I'd like to get back down to 160, so about 17-18 pounds. I'm set at losing two pounds a week (which might be a bit ambitious.) I tried a new fitness class last night and I'm gonna start swimming again this weekend, and hopefully that'll jumpstart me. Thanks!

That's probably a really good idea. I always measure my coffee creamer in the morning so that I don't get too crazy, but I've gotten bad about eyeballing a cup of pasta or a cup of cereal. I'll make sure to use my food scale more often!

thanks everyone, I took the cross boxing class tonight and it was awesome and kicked my butt. I anticipate soreness tomorrow, but I think I'll be back next thursday!

No one can help me? lol Please help!

I've been an Athena in several races in Mid Missouri, but I don't know of any groups that are organized for that here or in Chicago. Best of luck and keep running!
-
awesome job! Good luck to you in the future with your half marathon!
-
Good luck with everything!

Is there a way you could make the sundaes a bit healthier? Perhaps with lower fat ice cream? And then just have a small portion and don't worry about it. You could also suggest to your friend that you go for a walk around the park or the mall instead of staying in and eating, she might go for it!

You can tell her exactly what you've told us, that she is beautiful and you love her butt! Nobody loves their starting #s! That's why they are starting #s and not finished #s! Somedays she'll be willing to hear it and other days she won't, but be there to say it. By helping her out with her weight loss you are doing both…

That's really awesome! Congrats, I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling!

I agree with the above posts, I used halhigdon.com for my half marathon plan and it worked wonderfully. Good luck and have fun!

Great start! What I did to build up my running was to start with half a mile, and run that three times a week. The next week I would add a quarter mile and run that three times, the next week add another quarter and so on until I was up to 13 miles and running a half marathon! Don't try to run too fast or too far, it's…

I wear one when I run, partially to help with lower back problems. It helps support my back and encourages me to engage my abs while I'm working out. Does it really make a difference? I'm not sure, but it certainly makes you sweat more and maybe gets rid of some water weight around your middle. I've definitely lost some…

I'm 5'4" and I think my ideal healthy weight according to that is 117-145, and I'll be happy to hit 145 cause there's NO WAY I'd ever get to 117, and I'd look pretty weird at that weight. I think as long as you feel comfortable and you're in the healthy range, that should be your goal.

The new Weight Watchers cookbook is pretty good.

My mom had a hysterectomy in September and has actually lost about 35 pounds, but it was a big scare for her and knocked her back into some healthy habits. I wish you the best of luck, if you treat yourself well you should be fine!

I love that DVD. I'm not sure how much calorie burning I'm getting from it, but it's a good stretch and stress relief on my non running days. Keep up your good work!

curvymonkey, here's a thought, and feel free to disregard if you'd like. A while back I stalled on my weight loss, couldn't get a single pound to budge. I'd been a walker up to that point, on the treadmill, on the track, wherever. I decided to try running. Not a whole lot at first, because you'll get discouraged big time.…

I'm so sorry you are feeling overwhelmed. I've been on steriods in the past as well, and I know the hunger that comes with them. One thing I can tell you about that might help: if you have an iphone, there is a myfitnesspal application that is free, and that helps me to track my food since I can't be around a computer all…
