  • Well I'm just a total b!tch for 24-48 hours. I think I'd rather binge. My kids and husband would rather I binge!
  • Red wine and stinky cheese.
  • I second the grains idea. I add 1/4c quinoa or lentils to a head of butter or red leaf lettuce. I also second the bits of salty meats idea. Add a little but of fresh sauteed proscuitto or bacon. For dressing, I frequently mix hummus and vinegar. Finally - the Asian salad. Blend soy sauce, fresh ginger and water for the…
  • Dave's Killer Bread If you can get it, it's the best bread ever. Sprouted grain is my fav. I got in the Pac NW. Now I live in England, cannot find a bread I like so I just don't eat bread. :(
  • I had a nanny for 3 years who was a raw foodist. She actually went raw after 6 months with us. It was great! She had my kids on green smoothies, avocado and nuts. She lost a bunch of weight initially but then stabled out still feeling overweight. It was a high-fat diet -- TONS of raw nuts. She used to make raw chocolate,…
  • I do go to the gym 2-3 times per week but I love to walk outside! I made walking my social activity of choice. I do 15-20 miles per week at about 4 miles per hour -- always with at least one partner. I have a Wii Fit and an Xbox Kinect but have not made those a regular part of my routine. I want the new Dance game to do…
  • If my heart rate was elevated for 30 minutes or more I would log it.
  • I don't log it unless I've put on my workout gear and sweated for at least 30 mins. Now, if I randomly decided to go climb a mountain or do 3 hours of hiking, or something else I rarely do, I would log it. If cleaning your house is your version of mountain climbing, go big!
  • Oh and outer sports bras (you know the uniboob ones?) do not work for me. I don't think they work well for anyone D and above personally. Mine is a bra meant to go under clothes during physical exercise.
  • Bravissimo.com I'm a 36H (or 36DDDDD) and I can RUN in mine. It's wireless and I bought it in the UK. Bravissimo should be available in the US as well.
  • Think about it -- if it wasn't for all those January joiners who go 8 times never to return, do you think your gym cost would be nearly so low? Or do you think your gym would even be in business? You should thank them!
  • Try this -- Next time you work out, use your hatred of it to kick your own *kitten*. I mean, get mad at the exercise and yourself and make yourself really sweat. Every time you slow down, pull up that hatred again and use it. Do that for 30 minutes and THEN see if you get the whole "high" thing. I hated exercise from age 6…
  • I think there's a perception that running is very purist or something. Just you and the road. Plus, for men, it's highly accepted. Men don't do Zumba or Stepclass or Spinning Class as readily as women. I love it when men do these things and welcome them regardless but I think there is a societal stigma. I'm trying to speak…
  • I love Morningstar patties. I wouldn't eat them every day since they are pretty processed but a few times a week? Better in most ways than real sausage!
  • Check the fiber. If there is little or none, then it's just the juice with salt added and you won't be getting the fiber from vegs. Try making a green smoothie. It's SO much better tasting than you think and you can adjust the taste as you like. Start simple: 1c fresh spinach, 1/2c berries, 1/2c water. Blend for 30 seconds…
  • I am similar. 5'4" and my body is happiest at 138 or so. I was at 128 years ago and looking back at photos, I look a bit too skinny for my taste. My goal is 140. I have 38 pounds to go!
  • Naw, we whip out our pocket knives (in our back pocket tucked in next to our personal handguns) and carve the end to a clean, sharp point first.
  • Me too. The problem I have right now is if I drink a half bottle of wine and stay at my 1290 calorie goal, I am way low on useful calories. I feel like crap the next day not because of the wine but from lack of nutrition! Sometimes it's just worth it though.
  • You can get Graham Crackers in the American section at lots of grocery stores... the "Americatessen" at Budgens for example. They only cost about $9 a box! LOL Not worth it.
  • I have one from Bravissimo I love but wil lcheck out the others mentioned. I'm a 36H or something like that. I lose it in the boobs first so it fluctuates a bit. :) I can order Bravissimo online and they FIT. Good for swimsuits too -- swimsuits that can handle waterslides even! LMAO.
  • This is actually an excellent idea! I don't eat my exercise calories... but drinking them -- or 66% of them -- is a damn good idea. :)
  • I'd say some people look good with an extra 20 pounds and some don't. Hardly anyone is physically attracted to an "apple" even if they have big boobs and skinny legs. Gotta have a waist of some sort! This is also healthier, I might add -- smaller waist and big butt. It's human nature/genetics. FWIW -- I prefer my husband…
  • I can but I often don't. it's certainly a good option! Thank you for responding! Seems I often get few or no responses to my posts. I suppose there's a certain dignity in that. :P
  • When I lose weight, my boobs get smaller and my nose gets bigger. Well, it looks bigger! It's weird where we lose weight first/last.
  • calories I'd say it depends what you're doing -- losing, maintaining, building -- and if you're working out like a fiend. At 1290/day I can't afford any refined carbs. If I indulged I wouldn't get the nutrition I need. I work in a half-cup of good carbs like lentils and quinoa at least every couple days and I eat a ton of…
  • IMHO diet is the biggest factor in losing weight in the short-term. Exercise is important for long-term weight loss and overall health. My point -- in my experience, you can lose weight almost as easily by just changing your diet. Exercise sure feels good though and it's a great motivator to keep eating healthy! So - if…
  • I'm in! I turn 40 in March and keep hearing stories about how it gets harder after 40. Originally from Seattle living in the UK (near Ascot). I am new and need friends!
  • Ask for little/no oil. They usually do it. My favorite is sizzling rice soup. Even a big bowl probably has too few calories for a meal.
  • I have the same problem. I cannot drink alcohol and lose weight. In fact, if I didn't drink at all I'd be thin right now! Last summer, I started exercising aggressively (6 days a week, 60 moins cardio and 20 mins lifting). I lost 2 pounds in 5 weeks. I stopped drinking (which I had been doing about 3 days a week) and I…
  • Sounds delicious. I do smoothies every day. I usually keep it simple with 2c spinach, 1/2 cup berries and water. That's my base. Sometimes I throw in ginger, cucumber, pineapple, or mint. Honestly, I add whatever fruit/veg I have that's about to go bad! Sadly in England it's tougher to get the variety of greens I used to…
